I see... with that big skill tree there are many ways to gimp your character. We can safely assume that there are many useless skills and/or terrible ways to customize your character.

The talent tree reminds me a bit of Final Fantasy X. It gave off more of the illusion of control, rather than actual control. Hopefully this'll be a lot more indepth and streamlined than the mess of FFX.

At 23:28, you can already see the damage reduction, in your stats. When you were looking and swapping helmets, the dmg reduction % changed.

About motivation, in one of T.Pratchetts books was sth like it:

and it's easy to notice how quickly we drop the game if we use cheats (yeah personal experience, dammit -_-)

@Angamoth Yes, but if the person got jam irregularly, say, 50% of the time, he'd be more happy the few times he actually got it. This helps because of what i previously stated, and doesn't make him spoiled as quick which would lead him to getting less pleased by jam.

The skill tree. My god the skill tree. They may all be passives but holy crap. With a skill tree that large, it opens up so many different routes in character devolopment.

Path of Exile: setting a new standard for skill trees.

@griwan753 What's fascinating is that it's a universal skill tree. All the classes have the same one, and the active skills are determined by gems. So if you really want your huge monstrous Marauder to be a spellcaster, that's 100% doable. The witch will have higher base intelligence, of course, but it's still a hugely flexible system. Allows for interesting hybrids too.

@letsgetsomeshoes1239 It's free-to-play. League of Legends and Runescape easily exceed these numbers, so it's definitely possible. It's important to have a plan that allows you to scale up. They are demonstrating excellent foresight.
