  • I'm sure that wolf is very depressed...

  • poor wolf :L

  • This is incredibly cruel

  • This is incredibly cruel

  • Wolf is like fuck u people.

  • Soo beautiful

  • wow she was really fat, now just think the wolf has bad hips, how much pain he was in.

  • He is not howling back at the people, he is howling with the people.

  • @fel8901

Well probably with a few people because most others weren't doing the howling right. You see according to what I've read, male wolves give voice through an octave, passing to a deep bass with a stress on "O". That's probably why he was howling along with some people.

  • fck i hate wolfs xD

  • It's nice to see how the humans can be so stupids. Stupid guy: Oh my gosh, hey people, let's howling like this wolf. :D

Disrespect with this wolf, the perfect example of people fuck this world, sad. :/

  • :) I Just Hate Humans

  • wolves are such beautiful animals ^.^

  • @littleblackwolf3

    Deadly, but Beautiful.

  • @Raptormon132 true, but only deadly if you make them feel threatened or don't give them the respect all wild animals deserve (i.e. give them their space) ~.^

  • Jeash Whyd She Put The Food In The Water, Couldnt She Atleast Give It To Him By His Mouth,.

  • Only in america. living prison for animals, for all there life. I laugh the stupidity mankind is doing.

  • only in america? ok, so there are abosutely no zoos in the entire world outside of the US? please get smart....

  • yeh thats what most of these zoo bashers have in common.... they actually dont know sh!t about anything

  • Without zoos many species would be wiped out entirely. Zoos are the only thing keeping many of God's creatures from being hunted to death by morons whom don't believe in zoos or God.

  • he's like every f++kin day!!!

  • lol he looked at the woman like dont touch me fool!

  • wolf are beautiful animals, i love them.

  • lol that wolf didnt want to howl...

if i ever got a white wolf i would name it...

    avalanch

love this video * favs *

  • When was this taken? I think I was there. The wolf didn't seem to want to howl. xD

  • I that wolf was so big and beautiful!!! I just wish he wasn't leashed up like that. All well, least hes happy

  • Stupid humans. They shouldn't be doing that... how rude. I feel bad for the wolf...

  • ppl do have to admit if that wolf WANTD to get away not matter HOW fat that woman holding the leash is it would be able to get away SO easy...

  • thats sooo cute!, if i ever have a white wolf i would name iit kiba

  • The wolf seems pretty happy up there. Don't think you guys know what it's thinking.

  • For everyone who has posted something saying this is sad, or cruel your very wrong. I saw a picture of this same wolf in an artical someone had wrote after visiting the zoo, and apparently this wolf has some sort of hip problems. In the picture, it is easy to tell you could see how his legs were pigin toed, and he couldn't quite walk properly so most likely if he was living in the wild, he wouldn't be living at all, he would be dead.

  • @whitewolf097 Would you rather be in a cage alone with people outside staring, screaming and howling at you all day long? Its just not natural. You can't escape and there are only more and more people coming everyday. The same routine, the same actions to go through every day without being able to rest when you wanted to. Is that the life you would wish for yourself? If not, then the same goes for any other creature too. Think about it.

  • lol the wolf looks like Kiba from wolf's rain! only... Kiba wouldnt howl for ppl.... lol

  • If it had it's tail between it's legs, body hunched down and barely howled at all then yeah I guess it would be sad. But it's howling back, it's fed, it's only up there for a short while. This kind of thing will help educate people more on the fact that wolves are in a fact not evil monsters at all. believe it or not nearly all Zoo's like to take care of their animals.

  • To all the people who think the wolf is sad, in all fairness how do you even know it's sad? I really like wolves but from the wolf on this vid it looks like it isn't to sad to me. I think you just listen to the howl and the fact that most wolf howls like this one sound mournful you all just think it's howling a sad song because it's in captivity.

  • Like Keiko (FREE WILLY)? This wolf is protected, feeded, cared and "work" a little educating people. How we can say "where it belongs" if the human are in their territories chase they away and hunting for a sport?

  • They do that and the wolfy could be hunted =(

  • okey im not in peta but im an animal lover so wtf! why dont that fat zoo keeper get up there and howl instead?! its fucking wrong too lock em up cuz they are so awesome and powerfull.

  • The sad truth is the wolf in the zoo is probably a lot healthier and more likely to survive, in the zoo. Another couple decades and that'll probably be the only place wild animals still exist.

  • There is no shortage of retarded PETA freaks on this page.

  • I agree that it is sad and to see such a majestic creature put on display for peoples entertainment is cruel.

  • it's kind of sad to me....

Lovely sound to hear, but not under these conditions.

  • Wouldnt that stress them evean more cause how about all the strange people touching it, and the way the people smell 2????? I think that zoos should just show people shor videos, and then NO wolves would be stressed!!!!! :D

  • pitty such a beautiful creature forced to be bound in a cage... poor wolf doesn't deserve this =( .. elsamuraiguapo i agree to every word you said =]

  • Let her be in her wildnature. Why people are so happry to see that

  • that wolf is nice and big, i hate dogs but this wolf i'll pet him if one day he wont eat me cause they r not always loyal like dogs r

  • wolfs wont eat u cuz they r wolfs its cuz there hungry and find u as a threat if u see one dont run or try to scare it away cuz it will get scared and attack u so ya see one and do everything it wants they talk by there movents

  • she said in the end; good boy.

    dear, hes not a dog.

  • The term "good boy" is a conditioned positive response for this trained animal. The words are said immediately following the howl, then followed with a primary reinforcer, food, so he responds to this verbal "bridge". And that my "dear" is why we use that phrase. It also comforts him, just as it would a dog. it's the tone and history of the way it's said.

  • Very true. While yes, it IS a "wild animal", it's still an ancestor of the domesticated dog, so training for a dog could be used to train a captive wolf.

It doesn't mean it's exactly the same, and yes, there are more precautions to take, but you're right with your comment. :]

  • that is a gorgeous wolf

  • Beautiful wolf!

  • Kenai is such a beautiful wolf. I hope I get to see him up close one day.

  • Well-meaning but misinformed people think animals in the wild are "happy" because they are "free". Not really. Animals in the wild lead lives of compulsion and necessity within an unforgiving social hierarchy in an environment where the supply of fear is high and that of food is low, and where disease and parasites like fleas and worms are to be forever endured. The life of a wild animal is filthy, horror-filled and deadly; not glamorous and elegant like we imagine.

  • Thank you Reconditedusk for your educated response! Bravo, well put! Lorena

  • Thanks.

  • well-said!

  • To say the life in the wild is filthy, horror-filled, and deadly is clearly a biased human point of view. We may see it as foolish to want to live in a place that is unsanitary and savage, but it doesn't mean living a domesticated life makes them happier either. Do you really think human beings today are as a whole happier than they were a thousand years ago? Just because we are used to having certain luxuries doesn't mean we are happier.

  • To say the world is filthy and horror filled is biased? What about pollution, animal abuse ect?

  • I'm confused, what is your poing? To further demonstrate how value-less homo-sapiens are?

  • true true and u know wut i think people a thousand years ago were happyer then now

  • Lol, all you Furries who keep ranting "free the wolf" are funny. It's an animal, with knowledge and sense no where near that of a human's. Captive animals are comfortable in well kept zoo environments. You guys anthropomorphise animals until they speak fluent english.

  • Beautiful creature

  • Free that wolf

  • The government will shoot it!! They have already shot more than 600 and they haven't yet been taken off the endangered species list which is going to happen!! Nice thought though HAVOLOK!! But, if you really love them sign the petition at [they will not let me post w/ email address]~ save the wolves org We need so many signatures still!! Or, as stated they plan to kill 600 packs of Wolves!!

  • THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TRUTH.. will do so

  • Sorry... too late! The site is up for sale. That is what people do on lost causes!!

  • He does look like Kiba! OmyGod!!XD I'm naming that wolf Kiba! That's his name now, peoples!! Kiba, Kiba, Kiba!!

  • that wolf looks like kiba from wolfs rain

  • hey am i the only to says that this wolf looks a lot like Kiba from Wolf's Rain

  • well I do agree it looks a bit like they just use the wolf. I don't believe it 'cause it is probably against the law so they won't do such a thing. but I know that if there are wild wolves somewhere, and u try to howl, they howl back if it works out, so maybe the howling was just a reaction on the "howling" ppl

  • They are showing that Wolf respect by not introducing him to humanes. I think that would stress it out even more then what they are doing. When a wild dog or Wolf is introduced to new people or even animals there is a certain stress level they go through verses doing a routine behavor such as the one in the video

  • Thank you! It's good to hear from someone else who probably works with wolves firsthand and can give an educated response...

  • Yes i agree that is a great thing to do, a friend of mine works there as a volunteer. The problem is not ALL wolves are willing or can be trusted with strangers. And then there's the lawsuits unfortunately. And how many people are they able to reach that way, these shows can reach up to 5,000 people a day spreading the word. What behavior makes you think this wolf is stressed out? I think you need to see the whole show spot to see he isn't being mocked.

  • wolves do not need to be keep in captivity they need to be free

  • Howling DOESN"T stress them out, it's natural way of communicating with others. He does it cause he chooses to, no one MAKES him howl. He OFTEN solicits it on his own. Great way to "connect" with people so they WANT to help with wolves, otherwise they may not be touched by the experience and will forget after they leave. Yes, they should be wild, but reality is they are almost extinct in Europe and it is being considered taking them OFF the endangered list right now in the US!

  • Maybe if YOU had an education, kamiwolf, you would realize that America has the strongest animal protection rights than anywhere else in the world!

  • I have four wolf hybrids and two pure wolves at my exotic animal sanctuary.

  • fucken americans! anything to make a $ huh!

  • It's education...San Diego Zoo is a non-profit, do you know what that is?

  • Howl in the wild, lets get back to our roots. Lifes a bitch in the concrete, it aint right, Creator did not mean all this to happen.

  • hey I hunt and eat humans FUCK YOU STOP HUNTING AND KILLING INNOCENT WOLVES AND LET WOLVES GO BACK INTO THE WILD WHERE THEY BELONG WITH THEIR PACKS AND FAMILIES !!!!!!!! YOU MOTHER FAKERS AND I REALLY MEAN IT

  • Why don't you take all that anger and do something Productive with it, make a difference by changing legislature allowing hunting of wolves from airplanes and snowmobiles in Canada and Alaska! Use that passion to make a difference in this world, not just blow off steam!

  • Thats bull! They should just let the wolves go in a territory and forbid humans to interact with them!

  • And they all lived happily ever after...GET REAL!

  • Being pack animals, wolves at this zoo r very bonded 2 their human charges an consider them pack mates. They receive the best captive care n the world with dedicated trainers. It's intensive building/maintaining that relationship. This wolf enjoys interaction howling with the public an often solicits it. Great way 2 educate, as 2 the current status n plight facing wolves worldwide. Maybe we cn change negative stereotypes an manage these complex animals intelligently an humanely.

  • oh, poor wolf!!

  • wolf hunting opens in Idaho this year..

  • That's bullshit. Why would anybody hunt a wolf?

  • Are you kidding? It happens every day! In Alaska hunters are allowed to hunt wolves by plane! It's horrible.

  • I love wolfs, it's just a shame that they have to be reduced to entertaining braindead people who think they're puppies.

  • agreed

    *wolves....

  • haha but wouldn't you want to howl back to wolf wouldn't that be awsome!

  • If we ever do this to all the wolves, I'll make sure to kill as many humans that are doing this as possible!! I'll dedicate my life to it!!!!

  • thats a shame poor wolf stuck howling at the people

  • I wish that wolf didn't have to be on a perch. I love wolves.

  • beautiful wolf

  • i actually saw that wolf!! i have pictures of it in my room!! awsome

  • beautiful wolf. I want one.

  • Awesome, I'd like to hear more about the meaning of the howling.

  • i had a wolf/ samoyed mix that looked just like him...

  • nice wolf

  • White wolves, I find are the most beautiful I think, So are silver tips.

  • What a beautiful wolf.

    - Jessi

  • leopards and tigers were in a kind of small enclosure but it wasn't really small. San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park has the best enclosures in the United States. We have a World Famous Zoo with the most pandas.

  • Tigers have a huge state of the art exhibit called Tiger River...leopards are in the "older" exhibits, although they are working on improving that area as well, those could be larger, but aren't tiny. Each year the pens improve, only so much money, it's a non-profit and all money is put back into the zoo.

  • beautiful wolf

  • Thats good^____^Hope they r atlest kept in a nice enviorment,

  • Aww! ^_^ I love wolves!!!!! Favorite animal! I just hope that that wolf gets proper treatment. Keeping him locked up would be cruel.

  • It looked to me that they were kept in a real nice environment. We saw them walk the wolf and dogs together while we were taking the tour bus. I believe they really take good care of their animals there. The leopards and tigers though were kept in small cages, that kinda bothered me and my other half.
