  • Loved this song!! Thanks for posting.

  • Is the man to his left (Left end) Charlie Hodge (Elvis' buddy) ?

  • Wasn't he just great? Loved this song since I was ten...

  • The 37 dislikes are probably all devil women

  • what a such beatiful song and the voice greatest man! these man are real musician singers no crap shit like gaybier or lady ""caca" (spanish for shit)

  • Classic Marty Robbins, just gotta love the harmonies.

  • Freakin' amazing! Great camaraderie between the three of them. Love those harmonies..!

  • wow, what ya find on youtube these days. Great stuff dudes.

  • The janitor singing back-up is going to pass out if he keeps holding his breath and trying to stick his chest out...lol

  • Fantastic song! but it looks like he recruited the cleaner and air conditioning engineer in to be support singers but its the great for that. Brilliant!

  • yep lovely

  • who are the other two singers?

  • Surely the best singing male voice in Country music - ever. If you disagree, please name your choice...

  • Hi, I really expect that someone can help me, I'm searching some badass american country songs like Ghost Riders in the Sky, you know, some "bad cowboys" songs. Most of the country music I've heard it's "happy music", I'm searching a creepy western song. At least a song in a minor tone. Sorry for my english. Thanks.

  • @KbzUy Try searching out "Ringo" by Lorne Greene if you can imagine...good though.."Big Iron" by Robbins is good as well.

  • @BigRobArnold Thank you very much, it was exactly what I meant.

  • the 35 people who dis this song are devil woman

  • I love this song! Can't stand contemporary country.

  • Every time I hear this song I keep seeing Merle Haggard ribbing Marty. haha.

  • the dislikes are devil women

  • My Dad likes this kind of thing.

  • @RichXbox360 . The listen to your dad. He's right....

  • @RichXbox360 ur fathers a smart man....

  • This song is better than anything that anyone today can come up with. If there is anyone out there who knows any Marty Robbins songs that aren't as popular, tell me, I would gladly give them a chance, after listening to over twenty marty Robbins songs, there is only one that I have not liked.

  • I just did this hard to do song at jtyler5 - check it out and comment.

  • oh god save country music

  • its so good to hear anything by the great marty robbins...

a fantastic singer songwriter.... greatly missed.

  • Marty Robbins is still my very favorite singer!! I absolutely love his music.

  • the classic!

  • beautiful music..

  • I wish I was born when this was the kind of music you'd see on tv.

  • Great song - but one verse is missing-... you're evil like the dark coral reef ...

  • sounds like the roots of roy orbison

  • Look it's great all you younger people are listening to this, but seriously stop bragging about it! i'm tried of seeing this as the top comment on every song made before 1986,Jesus Christ!

  • It brings shivers down my spine every time

  • i was told as you arrive in heaven all you heard was Marty Robbins and Johnny Horton playing

  • Who are the 2 guys with him ?

  • 57 and I can still hear my father playing this song so loud our ears rang. Some things you just cannot ever forget. Music keeps memories alive and people's hearts connected. Thanks Marty for bringing something special to my home as a young girl and today as I play the music in the same room I heard it as a child.

  • I am 39 years old. I rock out to the old school rock of my youth (Def Leppard, etc), the hard core hip hop of today (love me some Eminem, Big KRIT, etc), and even today's country. With that said, I have to admit that performers like Marty Robbins and some of the old school guys (Johnny Cash et al) are in a special class. Thank you to those who post these videos and keep their music alive.

  • BENSKI010 Why call it shit if you like it.......Marty Robbins and Company were great easy too understand and easy too listen too....Jimbo from OZ

  • Is the blue shirted back-up singer Grady Robbins; Marty's brother?

  • @cliffyyffilc

I think you're mistaken neither of the back up singers is called Grady Robbins - the one in the blue shirt is Bobby Sykes the one in striped top is Don Winters. Both were excellent solo performers in their own right as can be confirmed by YouTube searching their names.

    Best Wishes David

  • @DelTangBrav There is no need to be so cruel, ken?

  • @dowling1981

Who and what are you referring to? - I fail to see how my giving the names of the back up singers, in reply to another poster, can be considered cruel. I will presume you are the one who also flagged my posting as spam. Others can unspam my comments and see I (unlike yourself) didn't post anything remotely wrong.

  • @DelTangBrav No that was not me, i do not mark things as spam. I was saying that there were undertones of violence in your initial comment. Can you improve?

  • @dowling1981

I seriously suggest you seek psychiatric help if you believe you saw ANY undertones of violence in my initial comment, (I merely gave names of back up singers) you're either paranoid or delusional - or perhaps can't read too well. I would suggest that first you remove your Youtube video of yourself manically stabbing a cardboard box, any psychiatrist would probably form own opinion of who is showing undertones of violence.

  • @DelTangBrav That would be more an overtone than an undertone, as it is an outright stabbing of a box. The stabbing video is meant metaphorically and symbolically Can't you see that?

  • @dowling1981 Instead of using words you obviously don't know the meaning of - why not try to explain why you called my intial helpful comment CRUEL (with undertones of violence). Before others also block you from their channels - you have obviously "totally lost the plot"

  • @DelTangBrav You are reacting rather aggressively, there is nae need for it. How do you define that which is 'losing the plot' ?

  • @dowling1981 are you insane or just an edgy and hi-larious comedian

  • @ithildhelma Is there a difference between the two?

  • I hate how that man in the blue shirt looks like he hates this more than anything else in the world. I'd love to be singing with Marty!

  • all these comments about what age you are...

im 16, and love marty robbins, johnny cash, merle haggard hank williams etc..

    but who cares about age?

    just listing to this song.

songs dont have an age limit -_-

  • @MrGerardnl you teal them . your soooooo rigth . I grow up with all of this songs and miss them. some of the new ones are good buy so miss the old way of them singing.

  • @MrGerardnl Same here man, I'm 16 and that kinda stuff is all I listen to

  • I listed to 80's punk rock, Post-Hardcore, and most metal. But Marty Robbins is the man!!!

  • no matter how you slice it this is QUALITY through the years over and over again !!

  • remember this song when I was a little nipper,,,,,,,, great ,,,

  • Marty Robbins and Jim Reeves defined country music! Very talented men.

  • @Believer1181 ...LOVE IT!!! Thanks for the comment!

  • Comment removed

  • LOVE THIS SHIT....Marty is the MAN!!

  • Why didn't somebody get him a full size guitar?

  • I wish I knew what the inside joke was at 1:36 even Marty is trying to keep from laughing as well as the drummer and the Glazer Bros.

  • the song made me remind of my uncle who is a seaman..now he was in USA

  • the back up guys are the Glazer brothers Still miss you Marty

  • they don't make music like this no more...

  • Marty was a real good Nascar driver too; I saw him finish in the top 5 in the early 70's at Michigan; no small feat, even back then.

  • OMG How great was this man......I could listen to him sing forever....I love country...I am 74 years old and have been a country listener since I was 10..Eddie Arnold was and still is my favorite, but, I love all these real country singers...They just don't make em like this anymore....

  • The two singer are Bobby Sykes & Don Winters. I think!!

  • Does anybody know who Marty's two supporting singers are in this song?

  • 14 year old ,,, you will never hear better than this.

  • Marty Robbins- jeden z moich ulubionych piosenkarzy country- świetny, stary film!

  • 29 out of 1716 voted for thumbs down. Nothing to worry about folks, put it down to childishness. This is great music.

  • Thats not very nice is it?

  • was brought up on Marty Robbin..love him im 31 now..best country singer ever!!!..:)

  • Fantastic

  • This is a clip from 'The Road to Nashville', made about 1967,with a scene showing a

recording session by Marty Robbins, his regular backups and old friends, Don Winters and Bobby Lee Sykes. One of the actors shown in a facing shot is 'Doodles'

Weaver, a long-time character actor and radio performer. A sweet song by an authentic Arizona singing cowboy, Marty Robbins.

  • pbrick, those backup singers arent acting like they are important. They are a bit nervous at the start of the number and loosen up a bit as they find the song flowing in perfect harmony. In fact these backup singers are highly talented professionals and are a vital part of Martys sound and contribute mightily to the ambiance of many of his tunes. They nail their parts and complement Martys vocals perfectly neither upstaging nor detracting from the number. Marty was a perfectionist.

  • 20 years old. I grew up on this ( in Hungary)

  • Replay, replay, replay... Brilliant tune, listened to it with new ears on youtube.

  • The 2 backup singers act like they are important. If they were to leave the stage it would be equivalent to 2 short order cooks walking out at Burger King.

On second thought it would be lesser equivalent.

  • :O

  • I love how the other two guys look bored during the verses. Especially the guy in the middle...haha. And who are the two random audience members? lol

  • @PSPfixer agreed 110%

  • My nan has an amazing taste in music.

  • I'm 14 and I'm listening to this kind of music. Tired of all today's music.. I used to listen to hip-hop, but tired of it too. Ballad of the Alamo & Big Iron are the best songs ! MARTY ROBBINS FTW!

  • @PSPFixe im 54 , brought up on country music , was lead singer 4 many years in country bands , still singing 2 this day , nice one m8

  • @wynstonscania Now that's awesome ;) Got any of your music here online? ;)

  • @PSPFixer sorry for delay buddy , not very clever on this thing ha ha , got a couple of songs on a cd , but dont know how to put them on this , sad ya ha ha

  • @PSPFixer

  • @PSPFixer dnt 4get feelena n el paso, this is country gold love his voice

  • @PSPFixer Also thanks to you for your comment, and I'm also glad that you at your age are a fan of Marty. My own kids love to hear him to,they are 23 and 21.I hope that the youngones of today will keep the memory alive of all the great singers that past away.

  • @jhtenvelde Thanks :) I really do hope that this kind of music stays alive and yeah totally agree with you about keeping the memory alive of all the great singers that passed away. ;)

  • @PSPFixer me too

  • @PSPFixer and i thought everyone born after 1995 were unable to think

  • one of the best songs ever

  • Singing the vocals with Marty in this clip were Don Winters (L) and Bobby Sykes.

  • This song was one of many from my childhood that always brings me back to sitting with my mother and listening to all the great singers of the day. Eddie Arnold was another of her favorites too. Miss you Mom!!

    SIMPLY:`:COPY`,`&;:'PASTE`,:

  • My mother raised me on this music when I was a child and I could not stand it. I am now 28 and I love this mans voice. Now whenever I hear Marty all I can think about is my mother and how much she liked him. Never thought I would like this kind of music.

  • Marty Robbins has not been equaled in country music.

  • @danbuter i think johnny cash is his equal.

  • I grew up around Marty since i played music with his son Ronnie. We had a small band playing the current stuff as teens do. He loved us and sometimes he would be home rehearsing and get to hear him and sometimes he would put on a new record for us to hear. Great Great man

  • How wonderful!

  • How wonderful! Did he ever play along?

  • Fab. I have played this track so many times! I love the funny looks the 3 guys give each other while they are singing they look as though they are dying to laugh..MM N Wales UK...

  • Marty Robbins was the greatest singer this world has ever known. That is the truth and his voice has stood the test of time. When God made Marty he was showing off, for sure. God bless Marty. I sure miss him.

  • Pure Talent !! You won't here this type of quality performance by anyone nowadays !!!

He was a true original - what a pure voice. I'm 47 and a hard rock fan, but for some reason I've always be drawn to Marty Robbins even though he was before my time. Thanks for the timeless music MR.

  • That's my Great Uncle Don! The sexy man with the dark hair!

  • 0:45 hahahah check it out, there lauging about something

  • @BENSKI010 pretty sure it's because they started there verses a bit off

  • Marty thrills me now as he did then.. What a beautiful voice he possessed, truly a gift. Miss him and his music.

  • Some people just do not know good music when they hear it especially these days.

  • For all those who voted thumbs down, you'all are a bunch of dummies!!! Marty Robbins was a terrific singer and a splended entertainer. I saw him several times at the Grand Ole Opry and he was the best. Suzanne

  • who is playing the tremolo guitar

  • He had a great voice range and could sing the entire scale. A great song writer also.

  • he is one if not the best singer ever remember folks this is the reason music became so much of life

  • he is one if not the best singer ever remember folks this is the reason music became so much of life

  • This certainly is a lovely example of proper music. Beats the idiotic five year olds screaming into a microphone with a bunch of long haired freaks with guitars about his/her terrible life and how he/she wants his/her girlfriend/boyfriend back. No talent, no reason, just pure sound, something you can just go outside to see. Songs by Marty Robbins, on the other hand, is downright amazing to hear, plus his songs usually told a tale of their own. Its like listening to an amazing book.

  • One of the most beautiful male vocalists ever!

  • Classy. the best C & W voice I know

  • Just think, if VEVO had this type of music, it would be popular.

  • Marty was the best, I grew up listening to him, my dad and uncle actually knew him.

  • some good rare footage froma by gone movie he did a guest spot in,

  • I love Marty Robbins...love the song. the harmony is amazing!

  • Thank you for posting this vid. This so truly amazing. Its pure, and it has a clear point. Thumbs up!!!

  • löl_ÃÑy_gÚys_wANt_tó_chãt_wíth_me

  • I Agree Marty Robbins is The Greatest Country And Western Singer EVER And to the 26 Who Didn't like it must be Stupid Or Justin Bieber Fans Which Also Goes Back to My Point About them Being Stupid!!!!!!.

  • Marty Robbins is the best country and western singer yesterday and today my oh is a poet today america dont make any more singers like him. Marty Robbins is the best .thanks youtube.

  • Marty Robbins was the best country and western singer ever!!!!!!!

  • THE best....bar none...

  • Thx

    Wolf

  • Truly an incredible singer/guitarist/songwriter... The shorter guy looks a lot like Farrin Young(but it ain't)the taller guy looks like a sitcom actor from the 50's/60's(a character actor who always played the neighbor or reoccurring cynical scotch drinking guy part.

  • @waneboon That's Don Winters and Bobby Sykes. They were his backup singers for years. It's from "the road to nashville" movie. (IMDb is the place to check that.)

  • "YOUR Woman. MY Woman! YOUR Wife?" et al.

  • what a great voice he had!

  • the days when the men loved their women,,,and women loved their men,,

  • Over One Million views says it all. My Grandpa listened to Marty.....He will always be a cherished part of my childhood. RIP GRUMPY

  • This guy is awesome! I wonder how many of the 1,000,000 hits are people from Fallout?? :)

  • There is no modern day singer that comes close to Marty..what a guy

  • @ eyes1555 - I agree. I remember a co-worker some 15 or so years ago went to see George Strait and I think it was Alan Jackson - not certain, but anyway.. he complained how they basically just stood there and sang. I guess he went to see a circus instead of hear music. He had probably expected some Garth Brooks type of performance - which I couldn't stand. Maybe he would've liked Slip Limp, Knot Biscuit or a bunch of porch monkeys better.

  • i know he passed away, but if alive he will?

  • i bet this guy dosent belong to the minuteman club!

  • This is a clip from The Road to Nashville (1967). I'll be looking for that on Netflix. Marty was my favorite singer -- really miss him.

  • Marty says's to his two compadres "Don't look at me while I'm singing, otherwise I'm gonna corpse" and what's Russ Abbott doing there in the studio?...Randy

  • If you find the time please have a listen to the great live voice of Dave Lennard, thanks

  • Marty will crush Bieber under his cowboy boot.

  • i did not realise marty was dead rip marty great singer love his music

  • Love this song by Marty + co. Sadly all 3 guys are dead...

  • 1:41-1:43 is SO RANDOM!!!

  • @amadeus2010era This clip is from a movie

  • have you noticed that most of the people that everyone loves is dead.Marty Robbins,Johnny Cash, and Elvis are all gone.If death has anything to do with people loving you then all the comments I've seen Justin Beiber will live forever.
