  • Great performance. Chris is baked:).

  • Damn straight.

  • The Crowes are the Crowes....... Inspired by many as we all are...but 100% authentic to their music and own style.

  • I think the Crowes are stylistcally closest to the Stones in the 70ies. Mainly because of their Open G tuning style they use very often. Keef Richards cultivated that after he has learned it from Ry Cooder. Crowes really are worthy successors of the 70ies Stones

  • @SJ9336JE yeah, i think you pretty much hit the nail on the head. However, you CAN''T help but sound like Keef when you tune to openG

  • This is one of my favorite Black Crowes song. "Trying ta squeeze a lil' blood from a rusty nail when you're thirsty-wow!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Be better with backup singers (2 or 3)

  • ElHeffay1974, I have nothing against Johnny Colt as he played great on those early albums, but he can't hold a candle to Sven on bass. Sven makes him sound elementary. As good as Colt/Gorman was, Pipien/Gorman blows them away. If you haven't seen them live in the past 5 years, you've got to try before the end of this tour and they go on hiatus.

  • I'm a big fan of the Crowes but this Album, "Warpaint" stands out for me....it's just full of catchy grooves and funky guitar and some of Chris' best writing and melody making. Vocally. he's as soulful and expressive as anything he had done prior....just my opinion.

  • wow chris is dying, he looks like crap....someone get him in rehab.

  • Comment removed

  • Not bad but sounds like something the Stones could have done 25 yrs ago...imo.

  • @recman1207 it's the OPEN G tuning

  • Rock n Roll's Rock Band... They're just the best, and I see them whenever they're around...

  • Luther Dickinson is definitely an excellent addition to an already awesome band. Better than ever now!

  • This is genuine good old American band..people should give them more respect..

  • what the fuck luther is awesome....warpaint and before the frost are like southern harmony musical companion and amorica...perfect albums

    and wounded bird fuckin rocks!!!

  • Great fucking band...True band...

  • i agree...they sound much better now

  • who knows the difference between the crowes now and the crowes in the 90"s??? they sound fucking tighter now!!!!!

  • @34canadianman

    Yes sir.

  • Oh, I'm not sure if they sound tighter. The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion is still probably the best album they put out from start to finish and they were incredibly tight. Marc Ford is one of the most under rated guitarists and Johnny Colt was a dynamic bass player. That rhythm section with Steve Gorman was the best in the business at one time (I remember a Stone Gossard/Jeff Ament interview stating that Colt/Gorman was off the chart and sick).

  • This sounds so fat. :)

  • The Crowes have perfected RocknRoll.

  • you can tell letterman really likes the crowes, he's always pumped when there on his show

  • chris looks blazed out of his mind!

  • great live version...Warpaint is a REALLY good album, highly recommended!

  • chris robinson. wow. what a dude.

  • better than the studio release....

  • This is awsome!!!

  • I love Luther! dude is a genius!

  • ive been watching alot of these recent black crowes vids and....man im thinkin chris has been totally inspired by led zeppelin...unless im missing something.

  • yeah you're missing something eripmavdasvampir:

Humble Pie ( particularly Steve Marriott)

    The Faces

Actually both bands are connected in a way.

In the 60's there was a cool Mod band Small Faces with Marriott on vocal but in 69 he left and formed Humble Pie, remaining band members teamed up with Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart and became The Faces.

These two bands are IMHO stylistically closer to The Crowes than Led Zeppelin.

More soulful, more groovy, more funky

  • thanks for filling me in! i was feeling a bit of the funk as well, but didnt know all that

  • I would include also influences like Allman Bros. Band, The Band, of course Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd... even they have made a cover of The Velvet Undergrond 'Oh Sweet Nuthing' sometimes. I love this band, they have collected during years the music of the best 60's and 70's goups to make their own style

  • oh yeah, you're right bluesmol73

  • yeah the replies say it all , i expect you're quite young then?

you may also want to try The Jeff Beck Group from around 68 when rod stewart was with them.

  • true that, im 21. btw love that group. thanks for the heads up

  • Luther "FUCKIN" Dickinson!!!

  • Absolutely!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Steve Gorman is simply one of the best R&R drummers ever. I love to hear him play.

  • Man, Gorman's kit sounds and looks so beautiful!

  • Yeah, no kidding! Know what he plays? I think it's a Ludwig. I always thought he was the key to their sound.

  • Yeah, mse1576. Although I can't exactly name that finish (anyone...?), I'd bet it's a Ludwig.

  • I think the finish is black pearl. Just like Ringo's drums. I'm guessing b/c Steve is a big Ringo fan.

  • Gorman is an animal! Killer performance of a great tune.

  • I saw in an interview, Steve had only been playing drums for two months before he joined with Chris and Rich

  • Wow that is just not fair! So much talent... Gorman sounds great.

  • Luther is awesome.....

  • I'll bet if you shook out those Persian rugs they're standing on, you'd have a pretty good seed stock....

  • Crowes still got it, baby!

  • is Sven slowly turning into Johnny Colt?

  • It looks like it, they all have beards now, even Gorman, they went from hippies to lumberjacks, but I love those guys, my first concert ever was these guys, seeing them again on September 18th

  • lmao.."went from hippies to lumberjacks".. great analogy!

  • does anybody know what kind of guitar luther dickenson is playing??

  • James Trussart Steeltop. James Trussart is an incredible guitar maker. I own one of his guitars and it beats my Gibson '59 Reissue and Fender CS...

  • thanks man! yes i heard about it. (i forgot the name)..what an amazing guitars

  • Steve is such a sick drummer

  • Stormin' Gorman, baby! Bowling Green, KY's finest...what does his bass head say???

  • Comment removed

  • "Gorman for Strength"

  • Wow, Chris is stoned!

  • Peace brothers ! I didn't know they are still playing !!! They are very good musicians, since first album with song Hard to Handle. ( As I remeber it was in 1990 ) It's shame that currently is hard to find realy good rock bands. Respect brothers !!! I like Orson too.

  • Now thats how you do it......Get em Chris !!!!

  • quelqu ' un sait il, si il nous sera possible de les voir en europe prochainement?

  • What other band has been making Letterman for 18 years? Truly great.

  • Pearl Jam...

  • ...and Phish. Three of my favorite bands ever. Letterman knows good music.

  • AWESOME love this!

  • one of the greatest bluesbands ever

  • this band is truly a great american band. no joke. I have seen them three times.. and everytime was fcking xlent.

  • one day this band is going to rock n roll hall of fame..

  • @koboimuda IMO, they are too good to be there.

  • I want to see these guys live someday. I was told that they are a must see..........

  • U willnot regret seeing them live.. I've seen them live over 25times and it just gets better and better each time.

  • That is very true. My wife and I (28 years old respectively) have seen them 5 times since 05 in 4 different states. She was a Christian rock fan prior, but now she loves the Crowes like me. I used to think the Stones were the greatest live band ever having seen them 4 times. They were great, but I think the Crowes take the cake live..........

  • this sounds great! These cats rule!!

  • Luther's playing kills on this video and warpaint!

  • Rock n' Roll at its finest!

  • See em live at Hampton Ballroom casino on june 18,19.Cant wait.Crowes rock x10

  • I'll be there in Hampton on the 18th. Love seeing them there.

  • Peace on you!

  • DAMN!!! This band is like a fine wine, just keeps getting better!!

  • love the way Rich plays

  • Great post. I tried to post 2 songs of The Cowes from SNL when they first became BIG, but utube deleted them. too bad.

    Great song thanks!!

  • this is what rock is meant to be, not what all that emo and indie pretenders/posers try

  • Chris looks like Jesus started a rock n roll band! Brothers still have it! Hey Hey My My, Rock N Roll can never die

  • Luther Dickinson FTW!

  • Rich is still looking good and rocking out.

  • GE Smith would be good to sit in with these guys!

  • well they will always be my inspiration w/ there songs and who they r,chris always is free atleast on stage

  • Chris never fails to give u a inspiring performance!!!! They will always be mine and will always take me thru everyday that comes!!

  • i F#cking love this song!

  • I love the way they feel the music one of the BEST performance I have ever seen!!!! Geez his voice in peak form here Cloud 9 all the way!!!!

  • All this talk of who's best and who's not is tiring me out, folks. Derek Trucks is as good as it gets, and he and Luther enjoy playing together, as does Derek and Eric Clapton, who loved playing with Duane Allman, who I saw play with Jerry Garcia kin 1970, who would play with ANYONE. Get it? The guitar gods could give a shit about the comparisons, they just want to play music, and if they can get along on stage, maybe we can get along in the mosh pit. Dig it?

  • Git em Chris!!!!

  • chris is chris! and this song rocks!

  • That's rock'n'roll! Rather simple, but soooo good, the play unbelieveable well, they write unbelievablely good songs, they are so cool.

  • man, chris is stoned :)

  • who would want to be steven tyler?

  • luther completes the band, hees the greatest guitarist alive hands down

  • you forget that guys like eric clapton and jimmy page are still alive...even guys like the edge are definitely superior, although luther owned warpaint for sure

  • luther is the best guitar alive

  • idk man, i kinda feel that luther rly makes the crowes a better band, no one can play slide like he can

  • Im a huge Marc Ford fan, but Luther is quite simply one of the best electric slide players of our generation, and brings some fresh blood to an already beautiful group of substantial musicians. Id love to see Marc and Eddie back, but Ill stand behind Luther.

  • Agreed! Saw them twice on the Aussie tour. Luther is quality, if we can't have Marc then I'm happy with Luther..

  • What Marc brought to the table was a LEAD guitarist. Luther is killer but Rich can handle slide duties. Kinda like the Stones with Mick Taylor and Keith. Marc played the standard tuning solos and Rich held the groove down and did slide. Two of the same guitarist wont work in the long run because they do a similar thing. The Black Crowes are Rich's, Chris's and Steve's band...Rich won't play second fiddle for long unless he is paired with a great lead guitarist.

  • Best Stones=Keith Richards+Mick Taylor...Best Crowes=Rich Robinson+Marc Ford...Both combinations equal my favotite albums ever. Exile on Main St...Stones and Southern Harmony and Musical Companion...Crowes. Sticky Fingers...Stones and Amorica...Crowes, are close to 2nd place. My opinion might suck but I am allowed to have one...CHEERS!

  • Comparing Marc and Luther isn't fair, because so much has to do with the quality of material Chris and Rich bring to the table, and how well one guitarist fits into what the Robinson's are trying to do. Marc and Luther are impossible to judge by themselves in this scenario; they are one piece to a greater puzzle. Both are great players. The work the Crowes did with Marc is superb, as is the Warpaint stuff with Luther. I love that the Crowes have stayed so good over the years.

  • ahh, memories of Brixton Academy, London, April 9th 2008. Only played the one show but FUCK ME they were great.

  • Aww man, I wish I'll see them live someday also, I MUST SEE THEM! This is real rock'n'roll, amazing.

  • the new guitarist luther is an extra mega boost to this great band

  • he's like a non fag axl rose who doesn't sing in a shitty band!

  • Crappy song? This is GREAT!!

  • I don't think Marc would want to participate in this tune--some have suggested he IS the wounded bird. Makes sense--and you may want to have your wind tested further--no better live act available, sir.

  • What a band!! Awesome, what rock n roll is all about!

  • that drummer is sick !!!

  • man, chris is so high in this video!

  • Got tix for Saturday night at the Fillmore in Denver. Cannot freaking wait! The Black Crowes are where it's at for good old rock and roll these days.

  • I just saw these guys last night in Detroit. Let me tell you, what a SHOW! These guys are the real deal!

If you watch close at 3:37, the bass player plays the wrong note but quickly recovers. These guys are real, warts and all, even if the warts are almost non existent. I highly recommend going to see these guys play live!

  • Yea I just saw these guys in Chicago on Friday. Great show, great vibe!

  • The Crowes just seem to get better and better as the years go by. Nothing like a bit of pure good ol' fashion ROCK! And God knows these guys deliver!

  • surely I miss to see old Ed there behind those keyboards, but this is a brilliant performance, simply love the crowes

  • cant wait to see them for the 4th time this month on halloween

  • holy shit that with be a fantastic show....4x this month SWEET!!! Seen them 4x over the summer and catching them on the 21st at the Palladium in Dallas which will be 15 shows total! Love me some Crowes! Damn it man, I sure miss ED....dude.... there IS NO OTHER! and MARC.. man... but know this... Chris -Rich - Steve - Marc - Sven & Ed gave everything to their music and never once let us(their fans) down by giving in to Corporate BS!! let me know how the show went myspace/OKcrowegirl

  • this band is that much better with luther dickinson on lead guitar now, he is an amazing guitarist

  • I simply love this performance, it seems the voice of Chris improved a lot, good to see Gorman on the drums, I'm just missing Eddie Harsch on keybords.

  • holy moly. some of the best musicians on the planet.

  • Puta q pariu!!!

    Muito foooooda essa música!!!

    TBC!!!!Muito bom!!!

  • so good

  • one of the best "young" bands to play today

  • "young"???...I was at one of thier first live performances almost twenty years ago...

  • i mean compaired to the greats like the who, led zeppelin,.......

  • Warpaint is there best release since Southern Harmony. This album is nothing but badass rock n roll. All the songs are great, not to mention rootsy. Another amazing record from the worlds earthiest band!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Does anyone else think that

Chris is high as fuck. best song on warpaint

  • Hell YEAH !

  • sounds like my crowes =)

  • i've been listening to warpaint since it dropped and i like lions better

  • Where's Ed????

  • we want Ed back...

  • Ed's been playing with Gov't Mule & hasn't been a member of the Crowes for a few years now...

  • There's no Ed in Mule

  • unless Ed is Andy Hess

  • haha. Could've been what I was thinking, though I swear I've seen Ed play with Mule. Though maybe it was some other thing... too many gigs. Memory is fuzzy...

  • I personally agree with esiegel76 this I feel is their best since Amorica. Three Snakes was great though and people don't give it enough credit.

  • bahahaa. sven pipien is my uncleee !

    :D

  • budz73 i hear ya man!...but listening to the N.M.Allstar's in the last few years had me hooked...I'm a big Marc fan,,,but the dude (Luther) can play!!! he does fit in....that's hard for me to say...lol... I love the Sweet Pickle Salad stuff...I waited years for that stuff!!!!

  • I was a bit critical of Luther in the beginning only because I like Marc and even Audley's style more, but he has really found his space in the band and he sounds great. I'm catching two back to back shows in November, hopefully he will continue to impress.

  • 2:22 very allmanesque with the dual solo. friggin sweet.

  • awesome band...seen them a bunch of times too....with Helix and the Jayhawks were the first tours.. Man,,,it sounds like they're taking a shot at Marc Ford here eh??...Don't look back my wounded bird,,there's nuthin for ya here...I love Marc Fords stuff too..

  • THE NAME OF THIS SONG????? PLEASE

  • Wounded Bird.......

  • Amorica is excellent. Three Snakes and One Charm is not talked about much, but it too is a great piece of work. The Robinsons were at their worst for fighting and their drug use was way out of control. Great album.

  • I agree. I've seen the Crowes 23 times live now and they're sounding better than ever. Warpaint is their best work since Amorica.

  • a good down and dirty little rock band. chris is clearly stoned and/or drunk as usual. what's with the beards - ala Jimmy Page / Robert plante 1980s.

  • This is the best they have sounded since Amorica.

Chris and the band sound amazing live....

  • More people should grow beards like those.

  • Hands down the best pure rock and roll band in America. No contest.

  • I second that emotion. The Crowes rule, I'm really digging how well Luther is fitting in, this is a great new song. Long live the Crowes.

  • This is a pretty good track! I haven't listened to much Black Crowes other than Moneymaker way back in the day. I think I had the album that came after that as well...

  • Better than ever!

  • the black crowes are in my opinion the best. this song ROCKS

  • yeah, they're better

  • Not necessarily a bad thing--I love MFF as well, but Luther's got it--in spades.

  • haha at 1:55 chris looks absolutely stoned off his ass

  • Great video! Thanks for posting. It's funny to see all the guys with beards. I wonder what's up with that? As a woman, it seems to me like the beards would be extremely hot under stagelights, etc. Especially for poor Steve kicking ass on those drums! This is one kick ass band. I'm loving the new album.

  • This album has "Character"...... It feels comfortable.

This was the album they were supposed to make!!

Welcome "back" to the Goodtimes everyone"

  • haha, looks like he's sporting the Carl Wilson look with the beard and the Gibson, lol

  • I like the Black Crowes, they're a cool band with a cool sound. They've got that '72 Stones/Exile on Main Street/Tumbling Dice groove NAILED! Awesome.

  • They just aired this ep last night here in Australia. I was just about to post it.

    Long live the Crowes.

  • Peut être le meilleur Black crowes qu'il n'y ai jamais eu.... magnifique !

  • Fucking Brilliant - WARPAINT is the shit..

  • Wounded Bird is possibly my favourite track on Warpaint, and this performance does the song justice. I can easily imagine the Robinson bros releasing 3 or 4 more excellent albums in the next years. Since Chris released Paper it seems he's much more into this beatlesque sound. Lots of credit to him.

  • I meant Rich :)

  • Rich is the most important player in that band and a super talented guy
