I first met the Florida Boys in person in 1962 when the company I was working for sent me to a grand opening of a hardware store in Bay Minette, Alabama where they were performing. That group consisted of Les Beasley, lead; Glen Alred, baritone,; Coy cook, tenor; Billy Todd, bass and Derrell Stewart, piano. The last account I had of Coy he was driving the bus for Wayland Jennings and singing backup for him. He and Billy have since passed away and Les and Glen are retired in Florida.
This group consisted of Jerry Trammel, tenor; Les Beasley, lead; Glen Allred, baritone; Buddy Lyles, bass and of course Derrell Stewart on the piano. He was with them from day one until retirement last year.
I grew up listening to the Jubilee and my mother's quartet records. She died in April 1987. A couple months later, I was driving and realized their bus was in front of me! When they turned off the highway, I "tailed" them to find out where the show was. They had figured they were being followed, but they told me what time the show was anyway. :-D When they sang this song, I cried through the whole thing because I could just hear my mother singing along. Thank you.
I got to hear this group at the Canadian Gospel Music Concert held every year in Red Deer Alberta Canada a few years back. Only one word to say about this group-FANTASTIC!

Oh I remember fondly my precious Mother taking me to the Dale Shelnut Day singing in Guin, Alabama and I fell in love with all the greats including The Florida Boys. What "Precious Memories"...
@addington86 It's Jerry Trammel, Mark's brother. You're thinking of Roy Tremble of Cathedral fame. I really believe Roy Tremble is one of the finest (if not the finest) tenor singers I've ever known. And what a range. Cathedrals hired him for the baritone part then later on when they were needing a tenor singer discovered just how great Roy was at tenor. He could fill every part but bass.
I was so fortunate to meet Les and Glen and the other members of the "Florida Boys" back in 1999. I try to wear out the CD's I bought however; I have discovered a whole new treasure of songs from many other legendary acts that have ministered in song!! What a glorious treasure of songs from these timeless goldmines brought to life via the Youtube internet !!! Happy listening !!!
Thanks for posting these great songs by The Florida Boys. I have a lot of their records and have seen them in person. May God Bless U. I give U 5 *****
I would listen to my dad's cannan compilation records as a kid and imagine myself playing piano to the studio cut of this song by the Florida Boys. I love it!
