  • there's no jeeps, that's the problem..

  • @umarusmanaziz

Yeah but get 10 mpg. LOL

  • @fazilous1 when it comes to power...i think fuel doesn't matter

  • Com on.. Look a that dust, Pedal to the metal with the Subaru but not with the 2 others...!

    (p.s: im a Subaru fan)

  • @Coolzombi It's a better awd system, that's why there is more dust.

  • @Coolzombi

I did not notice. I was busy watching it go up the hill.

  • My car can do that whit ice. gotta love the mutshibutshi Pajero

  • @keato02 ice cream ??

  • @DobryChloooopak85 nope ice road

  • Would the 2.5 Four Cylinder make it up that hill?

  • Why did the Subaru get more startup speed?.... the first car was going like at half the suba's speed to start off... i'm guessing the ford also... YEAH GREAT TEST >_>

  • @medjaiii Becouse is one more cooked video by sbr dealers.Thats why.

  • @energystar8711 That's true, i don't know why people don't see this obvious difference in momentum.....

  • ...........owned

  • Lincoln are horrible pensioner cars! My grandma has one rusting away in her garage... Awful cars, built terribly.

  • what engine was the outback pushing whit or pulling, I mean, the 2.5 or the 3.6

  • @pikepeak1 definitly the 3.6 sounds like ours

  • Why isnt the Explorer shown? Becuase it made it np

  • @yellowcow13 it was shown sliding back down like all fords there straight garbage

  • @cerwinvegafan Fords are innovative and American. The Explorer probily made it and it was edited out of the vid.

  • @yellowcow13 our 2007 lincoln mkz has 100,000 KM on it heated and cooled seats dont work power steering pump went the other day passenger side seat doesnt move anymore windows all squeak when you roll them up or down the stereo volume goes up or down no matter which way the knob is being turned theres a horrible rattle at idle and it rattles under light accelaration....our 2010 honda accord has 110 000km on it is driven way harder and has had absolutly no problems what so ever.

  • @cerwinvegafan JD power gave lincoln a top spot in its quality test

  • @yellowcow13 i own the car i think i know how awful the quality control is, i don't need someone telling me its amazingly reliable when ours is falling apart in our driveway, the car goes back to the dealership in 1 week, i cant wait.

  • @cerwinvegafan Ok and get a bland and boaring cheap and crappy toyota and tell me all about the quality that isnt as good as everyone says it is.

  • @yellowcow13 i wasn't talking about toyota, we had a highlander back in 2003 it was alright bland but then again never gave us a bit of trouble.

  • @cerwinvegafan I own multiple Subaru’s including a 2011 outback they are great cars. That’s exactly what they are cars that can have a little fun off-road and are safe as fuck. However, my 97 F150 would climb over the Subaru on that hill. I will never say anything negative about our Subaru's but, quite the fan boy BS my Ford has 233000 miles on it very, very hard miles. Hell I submerged it in a lake completely and when it was pulled out I started it up and left.

  • @MeatPlowMcGill1 im just going off my experience with our fords my dad has a ranger and the thing is ok but the only problem with it is that the fuel pump shuts off whenever it wants and its an 07 with only 55000km

  • @MeatPlowMcGill1 Ill throw the BS flag in that one. You didn't submerge the engine then pull it out and start it right up and drive off. You would have had to clear the cylinders of water and changed the oil because it would have been full of water.

  • @flight2k5 Well, I don't really care what you think or the throwing of your "BS flag" it happened and thats that.

  • that was totally gay the went slow with the white car then the subaru they sit there and gunned it all the way up soo stupid

  • that driver in the white car is a pussy

  • @randompersonsband1 yea, you´re right. but the car wasn´t an offroader and they must told them that don´t break it, so

  • The Venza would have made it up no problem... they slowed down!

  • @sammyvick123 venzas pussy shit

  • just love the rumbling sound coming out of the boxer engine....

  • Subaru Outback the best

  • wow against a venza thats sad

  • I'm surprised that Exploder even made it to the bottom of the hill.

  • @Mattman7781 fake

  • @sk8tafrnk totally fake. you could tell they had puppet strings attached and was pulling it up by hand.

  • @abenaway i think we're the only ones how noticed this

  • @sk8tafrnk No I was maching you. I dont see anythign fake about it at all

  • @abenaway Damn, you got my hopes up there was someone smart enough to chime in with my sarcasm

  • subaru powa !!

  • The explorer can't make it ... yeah RIGHT XD ...

  • Most of what was shown in this video was true, but it is clearly Subaru bias because all was not shown with the rest of the vehicles. Subaru does possess one of the best AWD systems in the world that also will not hurt you pockets. All of the vehicles complete hill climb tries should have been displayed to truly reveal the difference between a Subaru and a vehicle that displays an AWD or a 4WD badge on its rear when in reality does not work well or at all for that matter. Subaru all the way.

  • All they had to do was turn off the traction control in any of these cars and they all woulda made it. Also notice that the driver of the subaru porks it right off the bat.

  • was the explorer not shown because it made it

  • how come they are going so slow? is it too steep??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?!11111111111111????????!111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111oneoneoneone

  • There is a better Subaru Hill Climb video if you search "Power Wagon vs Subaru Outback Hill Climb".

  • @JustForEmpire Dude, that's the old outback. Can't compare them

  • why they did not bring the RAV4?

  • @MetaView7 Because the RAV4 will do worse than the Ouback 2010 and a lot worse than the old Outback

  • @nikos9742 or, you can say they did not bring the RAV4 because it can outperform the Forester.

    Seeing is believing.

  • hesam - a cars ability to drive slowly with control is a much better indication of ability than hitting the hill at speed and hopeing momentum will carry you.

this is a great real world test, not some rally inspired hoon fest.

  • Subaru went too slow, you must speed up before hills and don't let it slow down until 15 feet to the top.

  • What a surprise the Venza can't get up... it's not meant as an off roader -_-

  • Don't mess with Subaru when it comes to AWD, Traction Control and all out ass-whooping!

and Curious.. why didn't the VDC light come out? Is it because the AWD system wasn't struggling?

  • @ejicon That's correct.

  • Hahahah damn ugly toyota venza can't even get up the hill Subaru is awesome! just needs a little more refinement and some better incentives.

  • Yeah Subbie! Was that the 3.6 or the 2.5?

  • i know that is a promotion for subaru but for climbing buy a jimny :-)

  • @dionisismink A what?

  • @dionisismink

The Jimny is a great little off-roader, but horrible to drive on tarmac.

  • @sparkygl0s For sure subarus are much better on tarmac, but let me know better how the jimny behaves on tarmac..two different choices, two excellent cars ; )

  • The Explorer must have been in AWD mode, because otherwise it would have walked right up that hill.

  • My friend just bought a 2010 Outback. It's fine going up a hill in forward, but it won't back up a driveway. This isn't often a problem, but when it is a problem it's a HUGE one.

  • @aTellerOfTruths I have an 99 Outback and it backs out of the driveway just fine, deep snow and all.

  • if you notice they only show the vehicle that are not capable of making it, not the ones that can, i own a 02 Honda CRV and it will and have made steep inclines like this, my son have a dirt bike and i take him off road to ride it but sometimes , and the trails are ruff and some of them i even have doubts that my CRV can make it threw but it make it with no problems wile pulling the trailered dirt bike, go figure, i will post some video's on it next time, just to show the public

  • thats not a fucking suburu! my outback sedan is pretty much stock with 250k miles on it and i have absolutely no problem dune racing it with street tires none the less!

  • We recently performed a multi AWD / 4WD testing @ Lancelin West Australia. Petrol (p) & Diesel (d) vehicals. Toyota Landcruiser 09, (p & d) Toyota Prado 09 (p) Nissan Patrol 09 (p), Mitsubishi Outlander 09 (p), Honda CRV 09 (p), Jeep Cher 09 (p) Subaru Forester 09 (p). Of all the tests performed, the Subaru Forester travelled further in sand, higher up sand incline tests without tyre deflation. Every single other vehicle mentioned could not match the Subaru even with deflated tires at 15 psi.

  • I find it slightly hard to believe the Explorer couldn't have handled that. I'm not knocking subaru. But it's just a little shady.

  • @cooperobriant1 sport car suspension is not smooth buddy.

  • the only thing Subaru needs to add (which they used to have) is low range

  • One time I thought I had my subaru stuck. Then I realized I was in neutral. Subs rule the offroad!

  • Everybody knows that Subaru is the world leader in AWD technology. I've driven all types of vehicles, and Subaru has always outshined the competetion when it comes to traction and AWD performance. Truly the best! Thanks Fuji Heavy Industries for building great automobiles. Now bring back the BRAT to north America!

  • @charger19691 The Baja was like a brat.

  • @charger19691 I dunno if I'd consider them the "leader" but they are pretty good. Supercar manufacturers would probably be the Leader of that. IIRC Audi and Lamborghini's AWD systems are much more sophisticated. But they are also more on-road oriented. Land Rover's system is pretty amazing though.

  • @tobythesandwich do you ever saw the jeep QUADRA-DRIVE || system... it is mmore responsive and powerfull then any other 4x4 or awd on the earth.

  • @sledforpeace Ehhhh. Power has nothing to do with it. I wouldn't say its' as sophisticated as Subaru's either. It's decent. But I felt Subaru's is much more confident. I haven't felt too strongly about a Jeep 4x4 System for the past couple years. It's all soft-roaders aimed towards women. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But I don't feel the new wrangler could do half of what the old one could.

  • Gotta love the Symetrical AWD. ;)

  • i have a jeep that would run over all of these

  • Comment removed

  • @cooperobriant1

Yes, but your jeep doesn't get 30 MPG :-) and it rides like its suspension is made out of wood.

  • @BYLRPhil no it gets 6 miles to a gallon and the suspenion isn't rough it has a sky jacker lift kit on it that is smoother than a sports car

  • @cooperobriant1 Stupid, sports cars have hard suspension for better cornering. If BYLRPhil says it's made out of wood he means it's bouncy and tips over round corners. Whereas the Subaru can take corners b/c it has a harder suspension that comes from a rally pedigree that Jeep couldn't possibly be a part of

  • @BYLRPhil Lovely comment!!!!!!! LOL

  • @cooperobriant1 woopty do. jeep owners are so full of themselves

  • And that's what makes a Subaru A Subaru!

  • What is the very first car going up the hill (the white one)?

  • @crimdell Toyota Venza

  • all of these cars EXCEPT the subaru will never go off road!! its definitely biased. at 3:32 you can see that they have all outbacks and ONE venza and ONE explorer. and they probably had the 2WD versions of them.

  • @itsTiLER

the explorer IS meant to go offroading!

  • This is such a biased video if you take a look at the competition, they are not really pushing it and whenever its a subaru they try their best. you can see from the amount of dust it produces.

  • What engine did the subaru used the 3.6r or the 2.5i?

  • @NoxNoctisUmbra i;m pretty sure it's the 2.5i

  • 6 speed is better

  • so, is the CVT or 6speed preferred for durability?

Is the AWD viscous coupling, clutch packs or what? Can't find any detailed online description of the AWD system. What is the mechanism that distributes the power to the wheels and allows slippage? Is it the same system in the gearbox and CVT version?

  • Nice wagon "Clark", I like those greenwalls!

  • GOOD JOB SUBARU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • reminds me of a toyota venza

  • it IS A TOYOTA VENZA

  • how far did the explorer make it?

  • i have a 98 with 220,000mi and im tackeling everything New York winter can dish out. If interested i have posted a awd donut video. Subaru For life.

  • Love it!

  • its a freaking huge ugly beast.... its sad that subaru is starting to make cars for americans.... they will go downhill...

  • theyve been making them for americans for about 15 years....but they are getting bigger and im annoyed

  • Subaru has been making cars for the US for over 35 years.

Yes, they are getting bigger, IMHO Sube should have blown the Forrester into US proportions not the franchise Outback. my 2005xt is still going strong.

  • I agree. The old ones look MUCH better because the new forester pretty much just looks like a clone of other small suvs such as the rav4 and crv.

The new outback is still pretty unique-looking, but it is getting too big. They should have just added an inch or two to ride height, maybe smoothed out the lines, and left it about the same size.

  • Yeah, its no looker....any idea of the drivetrain on the tested units? Did they roast the clutch getting that thing up the hill, or is the CVT trans the cats meow? V6 or 2.5i?

I love the premise that this car can get me 80-90% of the places I want to go, with all my stuff, while enjoying reasonable economy. Is it marketing hype, or the real deal? Is it time to sell the Jeep at 15mpg?

  • @AmiableAdder I have an 06 i like the look of it better than this one not as bulky

  • omg....

Jatco only offer CVT for FF&FR.....

The CVT for Outback is the first one for AWD built in house.

  • My 2002 Outback is at 190.000 km...and counting.

Only changed oil&filters; sparkplugs&shock absorbers at 120.000 km.

Nothing went broke. A lot of fun outdoors, mountains, snow, extreme cold to hot weather.

I am betting on reching 300.000 same way: I'll keep you informed

  • Love Outback :-)

  • subarus have trouble transmissions from JACTO continious problems have a look in google : subaru transmission problem and this FACT!!!!

  • Which transmission? The CTV?

  • all trannies including CVT

  • I mean all autotransmissions

  • Is this just the 2010's? I've never heard of this. The only problem I have seen with them is the owners not realizing the front diff needs the grease changed ever so often and they lock it up.

  • no not just all models, mitshubishies(lancer) also use Jatco CVT tranny again it has problems

i guess this is because companies as subaru and mitshubishi purchases cheap trannies from JATCO TO LOWER THE COST OF PRODUCTION. AS IS SAID HAVE A LOOK IN THE GOOGLE, ALSO 4-CYLINDER ENGINES HAVE PISTON SLAP PROBLEMS, MOSTLY THESE ARE 3 AND 4TH CYLINDERS

  • Piston slap was only the DOHC 2.5s as far as I've read. The SOHC 2.5 was a good engine but even some of those had external headgasket leaks. The DOHC was available from '96 to '98. It's only such a big deal because until that point Subarus were more reliable than Hondas OR Toyotas. Despite lower sales volumes, there's more old Subarus on the road than Hondas or Toyotas.

  • all 4 cylinder engines starting from 1997, also these engines have under engineered oil pump that does not gets enough oil to lubricate 3 and 4th cylinder that why they r now selling high pressure oil pump , can find on e bay

  • ive got a 98 legcay 2.5 with 200,000mi. and it runs perfect...a little rough but it'll make it past 300,000 no problem....subys are probably the most reliable cars around....and they can climb just about anything

  • I like the sound of good mileage and durability....My 99 GM silverado just turned 255,000 with minimal repairs over the years (starter, w.p., alternator), maybe I just got lucky?

I no longer need a truck, and I love the outdoor stuff (camping, mtn biking, kayak).....Outback might be the ticket. How is the room for Kiddos?

  • i'd say it nearly has the room of a suv....plenty of trunk space (still not as big as an suv but still pretty damn roomy...and it fits 5 people and theyre really comfortable...all i know is that the handiling is amazing in the snow or mud...ive passed tricks in snowstorms..and theyre pretty roomy and kind of luxurious ...not to mention theyre probably the most reliable car around.

  • I agree, buy the manual, pure butter. A great transmission.

  • Yeah, the new 6-speed manual is a huge improvement over the 5-speed. It's a lot better in feel in comparison to my 1999 Subaru Legacy Outback.

    Oh, and manual transmission FTW

  • CVT* oops.

  • From what I read JATCO only makes CVT transmissions.

  • not only

  • what does that mean?

  • Continual Velocity Transmission. Instead of gears from smaller diameter to a larger diameter, it uses a cone-shaped drum with a belt or chain wrapped around it that slides up and down lengthwise. Or you could just google it.

  • That is not what the V stands for in CVT dumbass trying to sound smart. It is Continuously variable transmission.

  • Not to mention that the Subaru does NOT have a cone. Not all CVT's are cone shaped dumbass. Try to google it or better yet, Wiki it.

  • MY SUBARUS...1975, 1980, 1985, 1999, 2005, and now 2009 FORESTER. Takes on the snows of the northeast with NO PROBLEM. I love my SUBARU!!!

  • my subarus 1993 legacy (A awd), 1992 loyale(5 4wd) 1981 gl wagon (5sp) 1977 dl wagon (4sp) 1983 glf coupe (5sp) 1981-3 gl wagon (5sp) 1982 gl5 sedan i so want a XT and a brat and of course a wrx prefably 2005
  • Those who think Honda and Toyota can compete against Subaru in a similar event obviously never owned one. I myself have tested my 2 Outbacks against CR-Vs and Highlanders, Suzukis and XC70 and I ALWAYS won the challenge. The only downpart is the sometimes too small ground clearance of the Outback compared to the Forester.

  • LIFT IT.

  • UNMsmith - sorry for the cheap shot, just hasslin' ya. Sorry to offend. I've seen similar events & the press exploits any misstep. In an event for the 2010 VW Golf Canada, the engine on a GTI blew up. Unexpected and embarrasing for VW but still that F'n journalist mentioned it 3 times in a 13 paragrah article. My point? The demo has to fair, impartial and repeatable. In this video I am also wondering why the Ford portion was cut out. Again, sorry for teasing.

  • Are the tires exactly the same on the cars? That can make a BIG difference.

  • This is dumb, the Suburu had a running start compared to the Toyota. Talk about manipulation. At least be fare!

  • Wa, wa wa - stop your whining.

The camera location is different - both vehicles start from the same location. (Do you think Subaru would try to cheat in front of all those witness journalists and not get caught?) Not a chances.

Oh, and one more thing - At least learn how to spell!

  • Geez, who called the spelling police? Everyone has there bias, wouldn't you say?

  • At 2:03. We can clearly see the subaru completly stop...

  • Looks like this took 10,000 miles off the tires.

  • hi, would you tell me please where tis hill is located coz i want to try with my old subaru an outback too/ thanks

  • Tire choices are very important in this test. Traction, traction & traction!

  • Wow...all this debate over v6 or v4...Shows how much people know about subaru. It's H6 and H4, and such thing as a V4 barely exists.

Also, idk about the venza's AWD but it looks better than the new outback.

  • somehow i dont think the v4 version would make it up that hill :( too bad

we live in a city and drive around here everyday so it would be stupid to get a v6

  • Well I will tell you guys this... I live in upstate PA in the snow belt. The only cars you see on the road up here in the winter storms are subarus. I have 2 of them and a Jeep. I often have to call my wife to come down to the hard road and pick me up to come home cause the Jeep just wont traverse the snow drifts. The Suby never lets us down. But you hav eto know how to drive them too. Dont be an idiot, everything will get stuck at some point. its the Suby that goes.

  • Yes, Subaru did change the Outback for 2010 and I'm glad to own a nice 2009 Outback, but let's not overlook the new Forester which came along with the 2009 model and now the 2010 is so close it's very hard to tell a 2009 and 2010 Forester apart. To me they are closer to the classic Outback than the new Outback is. To me the 2010 Outback is a modified Tribeca. With that said the 2010 Outback is comfy and has loads of front and rear seat room for good size adults. It drives on the road well.

  • Subarus may not take any prizes for styling, but their engineering is flawless. Brilliant, totally reliable, and very worthwhile cars. Love 'em. (And I own a Porsche 911 Turbo, but I'm getting a new Outback 3.6R).

  • and i own a set of 7 Enzo Ferraris.

  • A "set" of them? Little Matchbox toys, are they?

  • yep, just like your 997 Turbo.

  • You must be poor.

  • i'm not poor, but i'm not rich. i also don't make believe i own fancy things so i can impress people on the internet.

  • I am a Subaru fan. I had a 2003 outback and now I have 2007 v6 model, but I hate this kind of comparison, it seems to be so fake!!! Subaru is an excelent brand, doesn't need this kind of trick to prove their value! Let it to the Korean's

  • You have a Subaru with a v6? I hope that was a typo.. Either that or you're a terrible fan.

  • Sorry, my mistake, subaru does not have motors with cylinders in V. They have 6 cylinder in an horizontal position. Interesting is that here in youtube people always escape to discuss the aim of the point. What I was trying to understand is why subaru, having such nice cars, makes this fake test or sometimes compare cars that are not comparable. Peace.

  • how is the test fake? subaru's symmetrical awd system has been proven time and time again to be very capable against other awd systems. the vehicles tested are comparable. the outback has the ride height and stature of an suv in wagon form. its only natural to test it against other wagons and suv's

  • You have a Subaru with a v6? I hope this is a type.. Either that or you're a terrible fan.

  • it's funny that you comment on his spelling but can't even spell the word "typo" correctly.

  • Who's going to drive a up a dirt hill? How about test them in deep snow instead. That the only time you will need AWD.

  • is this a car to buy ?????

    when it is released

  • Am I the only one who noticed the Explorer and the Venza had 20in road tires and the Outback had smaller more offroad ones??? The Explorer and the Venza could have easily walked up that hill if they weren't wearing sports tires. Wow Subaru, way to cheat.

  • Yup, you're the only one rocket scientist!

It's probably a "run what you brung" deal, so if it comes with 17's or 20's, that's what you run, got it!?

  • Oh sorry I forgot, the Venza doesn't come with anything but 20in for the V6. Besides, why buys a modified Camry wagon to climb up hills offroad? But come on the Explorer? The stock tires on all but the Iron Man package and those optional 20s just makes the car look bad. That would be like a Legacy GT trying to climb up that with it's oversized road tires.

  • Yawn. My allroad can handle this with ease. This is supposed to be an awd challenge?

  • Considering the all road was 30% or more expensive and they have some of the worst reliability ratings I would not be bragging.

  • Wasn't bragging. stating a fact.

  • Hmmm...yeah, I want my awd dive car to roll backwards down a hill like a Japanese turd.

  • Toyota makes a good car but a crappy AWD system. Good thing Subaru makes one of the best and least expensive AWD systems. Also the outback is American built in Lafayette IN.

  • Wish my AllRoad would go a month without breaking down, Always had Subies and switched to the "better more sophisticated Audi quattro system". What a mistake. 2 neighbors that switched to Audi from Subies are looking for Subies again. AllRoad-- due to its weigh--t also does not hold the road as well in the rain like my Outback did. Very disappointed with Audi.

  • im just gonna throw this out there, i don't think the venza is much of a competitor to the outback
