@sazanami67 Yes, I was in Japan from November 11 to December 5. (A few days in Tokyo and then about three weeks visiting my family in Kansai.)

Instead when you ssarted to scratch his jaw it almost seemd like he was in my room and I was scratching him - I started talking to him in a baby voice (blush). @sazanami67 Maybe they are marking the objects as "approved by me and my human friend or extended family as a useful, perhaps pleasurable and harmless object". It's as if they really need to do that to make the things part of their world. Cats are very territorial, and the territory, their "known world", can be a while neighbourhood, a garden or just a small apartment. They need to get to know and approve each object there so as to be in control, on top of things.

Thank you for a reply.^^ Yes, they seem to perform Marking in particular to the thing which they liked. And the territory is very small. Even if a range of the territory is small when it is a house cat, they seem to be satisfied enough. A cat is an interesting creature. Always thank you for splendid comment.(*^^*)
