Actually infinite depth of field will be useful and I bet that you will be able to change the point of focus as you desire afterwards. imagine all the moments you could capture if you didn't need to focus first!
The problem with this concept is two fold. Having everything in a photograph in perfect focus is NOT desirable. A good photo has the subjects of interest in focus with everything else out of focus. The second problem everybody has a different idea as to what colors, exposures, contrast etc are desirable. No camera can decide that for you.
It's funny how they are saying that this camera will eliminate fine art still photography. It sounds rather limiting (in a bad way) to an artist if you ask me. Infinite depth of field? Forcing me to have to go through a movie reel to pick out a still, when all I want or need to do is use my intuition to capture a single moment precisely as it happens? This is great for point and shoot, family home movie, or vacation camera usage. Not for art.
Y'ALL JUST GOT SHIT SPEAKERS AT HOME AND ZERO ATTENTION SPAN... STOP YOUR WHINING, IF YOU GUYS WERE ACTUALLY AT THE EXPO YOU'D PROBABLY BE BORED OUT OF YOUR MINDS AND COMPLAINING ABOUT HAVING TO READ SUBTITLES
Yes, I enjoy my DSLR too, but it looks like Canon is promoting this camera to the general public. The public want SMALL cameras (or better camera phones). I'm not sure a professional would be into a camera like this (no options to change lenses, etc.).
They don't call it a CANON (read: artillery cannon) for nothing! The public wants smaller cameras, not one that requires a gun holster to carry around. 0_o
The technology sounds like it could be some sort of advanced plenoptic camera, maybe using the part of the latest patent application canon applied for, for working out per pixel HDR values.
I agree with others. The commentator's voice is too soft and needs to have a lot more treble for example. So even with a higher volume its hard to understand.
Aside from that the technology sounds interesting.

You cannot replace the glass. Something like a wide angle lens cannot be unified. At least I hope not. It looks like it breaks the laws of physics.
