nice tuch with the green. i also dont like to keep the standard arf covering on. on my e-flight ascent, i kept the left wing tip red for about 8" and the movable parts of the rudder and elevator red, the rest is white and it looks soo mucn better then the stock straight red.
Believe it or not - I have flown the Fling here in as little as 3-4mph winds. You have to "milk" the slope lift a lot more, which is a fun challenge. Also, with less wind I will fly it closer to the slope (close enough to capture a bit of ground effect as well). Oh - Ford, I like the mini-high start too - that's a lot of fun to fly it off of that.
I love this slope - very nice scenery, and you always have spectators. Kinda fun to draw a crowd sometimes. As a side note - we sometimes share the slope with paragliders! This day was a little too windy for the Fling (see the video on the same day with the EasyGlider - a little better suited).
First regarding the covering, I decided to recover her last spring, one, because the purple was starting to fade, and two, I wanted to hone my covering skills a bit. I used Ultracote transparent green. It was a touch heavier than the stock covering, but I wasn't too concerned since I mainly fly it on the slope instead of thermal hunting. Ultracote is great IMHO.
Hi everybody - thanks for the comments. I am the pilot. Just a couple of followup comments here, and sorry I am late - been a while since I watched this one.
great video, I only wish i had a slope like that to fly mine on. I was amazed a the mini hi-start, its a joy to fly. tell your brother good job on the covering. that stuff isnt the easiest stuff to use. Well done. I'm glad i bought one
The "Fling" is actually my brother's. I think his was originally purple, but he redid it because he wanted a different look. If you're interested, I can shoot him an email... he might even respond via youtube. Thanks for the comment. -Hawk

Wonderful! Reminds me of the most enjoyable location on the Flight Simulator that's similar to this one which I got exposed to Gliders at.
Good luck to your brother and to you for taking the video, that was done well of course! :-)

Great flying and superb video. I also have a Fling, but it's a stock purple 49" glider. How come yours is green?
