@screamingservers, filtering water through a paper filter or a charcoal filter will not remove dissolved solids. At best it will remove some chlorine. Maybe someone here already commented, if so please excuse me.
Yeah, really easy! Also if you use filtered water from something like a britta pitcher, the water has less dissolved minerals and will boil a little less on the heating element so it will get hotter before passing up the spigot tube.
This can only lead to over-extraction. Never good.
