This car has 550HP to the crank, not 550hp to the wheels. Hennessey Badges there cars based on crank hp. If it had 550whp it would be probably be almost in the 10's if it had the right tires and suspension setup.

You are correct this was a great job by HPE. Now lets take a stock '10 GT500 add a Kenne-Bell / Whipple/ Magnuson S/C aftermarket exhaust , performance tuning and drag radials on this same HPE track and then compare the numbers. Taking nothing away from what was done at HPE, i'll give then credit for a great job. At the same time The Shelby is a great vehicle as well bone stock.

This is a great car for the money guys. I dont take the ford / chevy fence. Ive driven them all....corvettes, firebirds, fieros, mustangs (AMERICAN CARS).
GM can definately benefit in sales by offering the supercharger, but you can always add it as an aftermarket item.
All in all, a great looking car with a nice motor with potential!
The fast imports are flooding the market. Lexus ISF and Nissan GTR. The Nissan is one fast ass car but your going to pay $70,000+.
These cars stock are definetly enough, having them add a supercharger would up the price dramatically. However I hear rumors that in 2011 they are working to release a Z28 version of this car which would be a supercharged version putting down 556HP... so who knows. But also like someone else said, think about the economy.

Taking nothing away from what was done at HPE, i'll give then credit for a great job. At the same time The Shelby is a great vehicle as well bone stock.

would be better if they came supercharged from the factory. if u put one on aftermarket then u have to screw around with reinforcing the frame(assuming they dont have full frames) not to mention beefing up the tranny and rear end. they aren't made like they used to be

This is a great car for the money guys. I dont take the ford / chevy fence. Ive driven them all....corvettes, firebirds, fieros, mustangs (AMERICAN CARS).
GM can definately benefit in sales by offering the supercharger, but you can always add it as an aftermarket item.
All in all, a great looking car with a nice motor with potential!
The fast imports are flooding the market. Lexus ISF and Nissan GTR. The Nissan is one fast ass car but your going to pay $70,000+.

These cars stock are definetly enough, having them add a supercharger would up the price dramatically. However I hear rumors that in 2011 they are working to release a Z28 version of this car which would be a supercharged version putting down 556HP... so who knows. But also like someone else said, think about the economy.

To an extent, I agree. We as Americans can do better, and we are in some areas.
But you seriously have to consider the economy right now, which is what Chevrolet is doing. Not a whole lot of people are looking into buying a brand new car these days, especially not something ultra-high end.
The 1SS and 2SS Camaros are powerful enough stock to still remain practical, and if anyone desires more, they can add it themselves. Which is how it should be anyway :)

Yes, I do think they need to add another line to the Camaro with a supercharger or turbo. Ford has their GT500 (laugh), i think Chevy needs to have higher teir cars also.
But for the money this car is spot on. Truely.. think about it.. what car can you get that has over 400 hp from the factory that costs less than 35k.

I got my ~600hp (4,000lbs =p ) gt500 for $33K from a dealership in MO. I'd love to see a Z28 come out with a supercharger. The more American Muscle the better.

gt500s arnt 100 thousand dollar cars they are along 40 to 50k your thinking of the KRs the ford gt would be something better to compare to the ZR1 but im sure the corvette is better from what ive heard about it and they dont even make gts anymore i think
