I felt compelled to put the kettle on - no coffee just good old dahjeeling - Don't think you should be using brand - names or are they your sponsers !
sorry to nit - pick - I know it is not scripted but I think you should programme yourself to try to forget certain Trade Names exist ... I don't feel they need the- (to quote M.thatcher ) " oxygen of publicity " . only a point, keep up the good work .
@timbrownson I liked your video, but there's something of an inconsistency in your approach, when you purposefully ask "What *makes you* use those words?", as opposed to "Why do you use those words?", which you consider too confrontational. The former construction implies that the person is compelled to use those words, which is an attitude you discourage.
Also, what do you make of Wikipedia's "Depressive realism" article?
@NihilistMonarchist This is really difficult to explain without writing a blog post. I get what you mean totally, and to some extents you're right. However, at this point the most important thing I can do is get the client to ask themselves that question. Sort of "Yeh what does make me do that?" Often the answer comes back - nothing makes me do that. Then we can change it. Not read the Wiki thing, will do now.
@NihilistMonarchist Yeh, I agree with that on the realism front in certain circumstances although *most* of the time realism isn't called for. Every major breakthrough in the history of mankind was considered unrealistic at some point.
Tim - you're fun, intelligent and you make me laugh and rethink my attitude simultaneously. Thanks for this and for the positive stuff you bring to the world daily.
@worsleyxXx Mate thanks a lot for such a thoughtful, erudite, intelligent and provocative comment. I think the Internet would be a much better place if people took the time like you obviously did to offer their deepest thoughts and communicate on such a spiritual level.
Hey that was pretty interesting, thanks for the info on all that, i laughed quite a bit at your meanderings but I like how they added to the real life in your face experience :D
I loved this video Tim. It is valuable stuff that I have only recently become somewhat aware of - this whole self-talk thing. Your humor cracks me up :-)
Thank you so much! it made a bigger impact then i though! :)
