  • I love Carina....

  • Will Hoy RIP

  • Looks like Hoy forgot Rule No. 1!

Those were good days for the BTCC.

  • 2 words dingle dell......bring it back

  • wow insane driving

  • Vauxhall is the best

    C20XE-nice machine

  • 0:50 Gotta love that N/A sound when they roar down pilgrims drop :)

  • Is BTCC even still running?

  • Yeap, except its on ITV4 for some reason.

  • If Murray Walker can't commentate for F1, why isn't he doing this instead? Think about it - he won't need to really travel as far, and his voice would provide the icing on the cake!

  • because BTCC is shitty now

  • wtcc you mean

  • all of it is now, cept maybe v8 supercars

  • wheel hopping - fantastic

  • YYEAAASSSSSSSSS

  • Amazing fight to the position...

    Nice video!!!

  • great video

  • This was one of the best years ever for BTCC. The championship went right down to the last race with 3 drivers still in with a chance of victory.

  • now thats proper racing

  • "And Andy Rouse's body language says RAGE and FURY!!!"

  • Try putting Chilton, Turkington or any of the ccurrent BTCC drivers in these proper old-fashioned ones, without aero aids, sequential boxes etc, and see how good they are then! I grew up with these early 90s touring cars (and my dad drove a Cavalier!), and its a revelation compared with today's overpaid, over-technological shit.

  • I agree with what your saying about the old races being more raw, but you can't say that the current btcc isn't any good??

  • What engines did they use in those Carina's?

    3s-ge? Sounds awesome!

  • Yep, 3S-GE, and you could buy the semi-race equivalent bits off the shelf from TRD or Toda. Think they were a shade under 230bhp normally aspirated (standard 3S-GE was 150ish?)

  • "standard 3S-GE was 150ish?"

    Yep, depends on generation (gen1 150, gen2 156, gen3 175). If the year was '92, i think they did use gen2.

  • You know, try to race very hard through the Dingle Dell and then feel your balls after it.

    btw It's a sick track...I love it!

  • You'd be very hard pushed as they removed the chicane at Dingle Dell years ago

  • Love it the mighty cavalier puts up a good fight love the toyotas they crash well .

  • =D this is RACE ...

    today is sooooo boring!

  • Nice drivin fuckers. Current BTCC season is pretty good too for the drivin and crashin. Nice camera work wit the lear!

  • I think it all fucked up when they started mucking around with sequential gearboxes, as the drivers no longer had to dance on the pedals; no longer would you get a car drop back a position or two because of a missed gearchange. Bring back manual gearboxes, and create a class for turbocharged cars (very late 80's, I know =D).

  • Great racing! And happily Brands Hatch hasn't changed too much, it's still a great circuit. Bigger gravel traps and higher safety fences but the circuit layout is almost the same today.

  • Yes!!! those were the days! I think it all went wrong when the started arsing about putting rear wings and big splitters on the cars. It used to be great because your dad owed a Cavelier, (or a nasty Toyota Carina), that looked like the ones you saw screaming around wherever every other weekend!!

  • ill bet "health and safety man" wont let you kerb hop dingle dell @ 130 any more too... :(

We should all get together and buy a field/build a track etc... lol

  • cool! i didn't know BTCC was that exciting... If feeling very sorry not to be able to see this on my country... this, dtm, wtcc, v8 supercars are great!!!

  • Ahh BTCC when it was real racing and didn't need gimmicks like reverse grids to make it appear to be slightly exciting.

  • up the chavalier!!

  • Wow, teammates taking each other out. Remember Jason Plato and Yvan Muller back in '01 driving for Vauxhall. They don't like each other.

  • R.I.P Will Hoy

  • fantastic racing!!

  • They don't make em like Hoy, Rouse and Cleland anymore! Superb stuff!

  • class

  • Bloody excellent video! Well found. Anymore like this? These guys were great touring car drivers, it seems so much better back then. Cleland was superb!

  • thanks for posting this!

  • Fantastic stuff!
