So this is a full Borla exhaust or just the muffler? It ain't cheap but I think it sounds better so it should be worth it. Noticeable power gains? And how much was it?
I'm thinking about getting these installed in 2 weeks or so...could you post a vid of you driving it down the road... I must want to hear how loud it is at cursing speeds.
Hey y'all! The replacement muffler is a Borla P/N 11751. I also have a K&N cold air induction kit installed when this vid was taken. Since then, I have also installed a Brenspeed custom tune for max power and 93 Octane.
Ok so I just got a 2009 v6 with pony package as my first car....And I would like to do some muffler upgrades....would this void the warrenty of the car?? I'm sorry if this is a dumb question. By the way love the sound of your stang!!
Hey Max, I could not open the link to the jpg file so I can't tell you if you have the right part or not. I went back and verified the part number and 11751 is correct. It should be pretty obvious if you have the left or right part because the hangers and slip joint will either fit or not. This is the first time I've heard about Borla screwing up an order like this, but sometimes shit just happens. Keep on it, because I've been real happy with my purchase. Keep us posted...
@jtothec5000 Hi there! I had to use space in between otherwise youtube wouldn't let me post. :) Anyway, Borla 11751 is for right side only. They must have put 11750 (for the V8) by mistake into all of their 11751. rofl. I'll update you on the 3rd shipment. Take care.
@MrBrennend1 Thanks! I have a K&N cold air kit and Borla cat back replacement muffler to get that sound, but I suspect just the muffler would be a huge improvement.
@mightyjoe911 Haha. Of course my wife had the same concern, and then some. We did a very comprehensive safety briefing before letting him loose. Comprehensive in that if he touched anything other than the gas pedal and steering wheel, I'd have his hide in my office. :)
@magicalpoop It's not too offensive. I'm glad I stayed with the single exhaust. While there are a fair number of haters out there, it's mostly fun. I get a few thumbs up from our GT brothers and sisters now and then.
@wonderbreadkw Funny you should mention that. I just received my upper billet grill which will fit the pony package. I already have installed the lower fascia grille with a polished billet design from Stack. It's going on this weekend.
i would love to do this with my v6.....all you did was put in a K&N cold air induction kit, and a borla replacement? nothin special with the headers or anythin like that?
Yeah man your car sounds pretty damn nice! i just got my borla replacement muffler in last night and got installed today, sounds identical to yours and its like a perfect sound to the v6, not too loud and not too quiet... really good deep throne pitch! :)
awsome video man, your car is amazing dont let anyone hate on it because its a V6. just a suggestion, you should think about getting a custome tune from bamachips, it will really open up the car alot.
i have an 05 v6 stang and im looking to just replace the muffler, not the whole exhaust like pipes and all. i was looking at a flowmaster super 44. this borla sounds really good tho. what type of borla is it?
i need help...should i get the bbk headers with high-flow catted x-pipe or bbk headers with the borla x-pipe? by the way i only have the magnaflow mufflers (bot the magnapacks) on with stock everything else. the only thing i have aftermarket is a herst shifter and CAI
You must have a V8, right? or are you going to go dual with a V6? I'm afraid I'm not up to speed on either as I elected to keep my six shooter single just because I didn't want to appear like a V8 wannabe.
I'm not sure of what you mean by turbo vs. s type, but I'll try to answer. The two main types of muffler are dissipative and reactive. The dissipative are like the "glass packs" or "straight thru" type that dissipate the sound energy through a sound absorbing material surounding the center pipe. The other type is reactive which by the nature of the shape and the baffling inside manipulate the sound waves to reduce the noise. The Borla I have is reactive muffler.
Ha! I don't know. It all started when he was first born. I saw his bald little peanut head and that just became his nickname. And he was such a cute baby I would want to eat him up like a peanut so the name stuck. Over the years it has morphed to "the nut" "nuttery buttery" or just "nutty".
Hello again, I just can't get over how amazing your car sounds!! Please tell me, did the "tune" add much to the exhaust note or did it sound this awesome after installing just the Borla and air filter? Also, how much was the tune and where did you get it? I think this is the best sounding v6 I have ever heard! Thanks for posting.
Wow this sounds incredible! Im about to buy the same muffler now that ive heard this! So what all did you do to get this sound??? Just the muffler and the KNN cold air intake?? Let me know!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
quit saying it sounds nice because it dosent you losers train yourself to think it does cause you have one stock for stock your slower o wait ill supercharge it o wait ill supercharge my 32v you lose youll never win this battle no matter how hard u whine rice rice rice rice rice
Did someone shit in yer Rice Krispies this morning? What Battle? With whom? No shit a V6 isn't the fastest thing out there, genius. You're the one whining, hater. The point is that no everyone can afford more muscle so we improve on the six shooter and the improvements are significant if done properly, not that we are our there beating whatever the fuck you think is best, so piss off, hater.
I have the single Borla and it sounds very nice. I prefer to keep a single exhaust to retain the V6 look. Can I install a K&N intake without messing with anything else, like tuning?
Yes, I put on both the K&N cold air kit and the Borla with no change to the tune and it ran fine. Later, however, I did go with a custom tune for 93 octane and got another kick in performance. I have not put it on a dyno, but seat of the pants performance was another gain on the custom tune.
Hi, your exhaust note is perfect. Please tell me if you retained the stock cat, pipe diameter size and if it has a resonator or resonated tip. What exactly was involved with the tune you speak of. Thanks for posting your vid, it's extremely helpful for those of us in the market to upgrade to Borla.
Yes, I retained the stock cat and pipe so the Borla is simply a replacement of the stock muffler. There is a short curved tube welded on the front side of the Borla that matches exactly to the stock over axle pipe. I did the install solo, but I would recommend you enlist the help of an extra pair of hands to make lining up the pipes a little easier. The custom tune was purchased through Brenspeed which is a performance shop out of Indiana. The tune comes with an SCT X3 tuning computer.
I just bought a new 2009 v6 pony package, did this void the warranty, also make sure he does not kick it into gear or you really will have a top viewed you tube video!
I stayed with a single so I could keep it looking like a true six shooter and not look like a GT wannabe. I also talked to a couple of performance guys and they said unless you do major tuning the six actually does better with a little back pressure. I'm not sure if that's true, but with the cold air kit, the muffler and a custom tune from Brenspeed I like what I got for the money.
I will try that when my brother or brother in law comse to town. My son my not be the best camera man, and I really don't want to encourage him doing donuts in a car... :)
There are a lot of good products out there, but I have to say that I'm very pleased with the Borla. Also do look at a cold air induction kit. It worked real nice with the upgraded muffler.
Nice! I just put a custom tune for 91 Octane and I got another nice bump in performance. Checkout Brenspeed performance in Indiana. Next I think I'm going to work on the suspension.
hey bro I know i'm replying to a year old comment but whatever lol. I gotta 6banger myself 2007, and its stock. lets say i went with a coldair/tune combo. you think i'd notice any signifigant gains (like i could really tell the difference) for the 500 dollars? lemme know sweet car bro :D peace
Well I don't know about THAT. My first car was a motorcycle because I couldn't afford a car, and I firmly believe that a kid better appreciates something he has to work for, so I'm not sure he'll be getting a 'stang at 16. I know if I did I probably would have lost my license since I did anyways with the motorcycle. You say flows (plural) did you go to dual exhaust on your V6? Is that Flow Master or Magna Flow. Either way, are you happy with the sound and performance? Do tell.
hey! I got my mustang at 16! had to save up forever! I got an H pipe, with two delta 40 mufflers and 4 inch rolled tips. it is duel. I like that borla. AMAZING in a duel system.
Thanks! Yeah, my Dad was pretty cool when it came to cars and motorcycles. I think his Dad was way strict so I got the benefit of him letting me have fun with stuff with motors. Are you a 'stang driver or just like noise like me?
Good job on that....Im thinking of buying the borla dual exhaust system for the v6 but i got a gt 500 shelby bodykit do u think it will fit??.....and whats up with everybody asking the same question cant they read the comments lol!
I don't see any reason why the shelby kit wouldn't fit. The main body and frame are exactly the same I think. As far as going dual, I was very tempted, but a guy at a performance shop told me the V6 makes more power with a tuned single exhaust. I don't know if that's true or not, but I finally decided to keep her a singe to keep it a unique V6. Good luck, and yeah, I don't quite get that about not reading the rest of the posts, but I'm not a hater. Peace y'all.
hey i have a 07 mustang with only the V6 in it and i want a little more than 200hp what could i do to my car to give it more bite with out putting a new engine in it and and stay on a decent budget?
hey man your car sounds awesome...I was thinking about buying this same Borla exhaust, but I don't think I want to do the cold air induction. I have a 2005 mustang v6. Do you think it will still sound as good as yours?
Hey, Sorry I didn't reply I was away from the home front. As far as the cold air, any reason you don't want to, other than cost? To answer your question, the 2005 is essentially the same, so I'm sure you will be able to get a much better sound even with just the Borla. I'm so happy with the Borla that I would recommend it to anyone. Good luck, and let me know how it goes if you throw one on.
Oh, I would love to put the cold air induction also, its just more money than I am wanting to spend at the moment. I really like the soundn of the borlas, but I didn't know how they would sound on a V6. But your video sold me on them. I was just wanting to make sure that if I did buy the muffler, that it would't sound worse because I didn't get the cold air induction also. I really wasn't sure if it even affected the sound anyways.
I understand, always this little issue about money... As far as affecting the sound, there is an effect. The more flow you have, the more performance and the better the sound, but I would bet that it would be minimal, even detectable without the cold air. The cold air kit alone claims around 7HP is my memory serves. I don't know anyone that can hear the difference in 7HP through the same muffler. Do you? Maybe some crazy racing pit crew chief. Get the Borla Borla!
One last question and I will be sold on this my man...when driving around, the sound isn't loud and annoying inside the car like some other systems is it? I'm pretty sure this is what I am looking for because the website says "A BORLA exhaust system, on the other hand, is designed for less restriction, keeping the velocity and frequency high so the main sound is behind the tailpipe" but i thought that i would let u verify this since u do drive around with it everday.
Your car sounds great...I am going to be getting one in black soon..I will def put that exhaust on hearing this...when you bought the muffler was it the 2.5"?
Thanks for the comment. This particular exhaust has the polished 3.5" tip. Borla p/n 11751. You can go to the Borla web site for all the specs. I'm real happy with the Borla and K&N combination. I slapped them on at the same time and the difference was very noticable in both sound and actual performance. I think my next mod will be a performance tuner as I probably need to advance the spark a bit. Good Luck!
This is only the replacement muffler (see Borla P/N in reply below). I also put a K&N cold air kit on the induction side. Just those two changes have made a vast improvement in sound and performance.
vvveerryyyy nice!!! I have a v6 S197 as well but its 100% stock right now. I was going to get some Magnaflow exhaust on it but after hearing your Borla's I'm def. going to go with those! Great video!!
Sorry I didn't answer right away. As you can tell, I'm real happy with the K&N and Borla combo, but in hindsight I may have gone with a different cold air package only for looks. Some of the polished aluminum packages just look better, but probably perform no better or only marginally. Please let me know if you pulled the trigger on a Borla for your ride and how you like it.
Dam!! Thats a really nice exhaust sound you have coming out of a V6..Like seriously. Thats the best Ive heard on any V6 mustang. What of Borla exhaust did you get?
Thanks. The Borla p/n is #11751. I put it on with a K&N cold air kit. My throttle response is way better and I've certainly added a few ponies. Plus the sound. Even the GT folks ask about my ride, which is cool. I don't think I have the budget to go turbocharging, but... Anyways, thanks for the nice post. You didn't mention your ride, so please share. I always welcome good info from fellow 'stang heads.
sounds good bro, and yea, i went with the dynomax since its got the amount of sound and tone i like, and it wasn't very expensive :) i'd like to upgrade to a full JBa true duals kit... for the little extra performance.

COMvet360 3 years ago
Nice! I just put a custom tune for 91 Octane and I got another nice bump in performance. Checkout Brenspeed performance in Indiana. Next I think I'm going to work on the suspension.
jtothec5000 3 years ago
hey bro I know i'm replying to a year old comment but whatever lol. I gotta 6banger myself 2007, and its stock. lets say i went with a coldair/tune combo. you think i'd notice any signifigant gains (like i could really tell the difference) for the 500 dollars? lemme know sweet car bro :D peace
qbmitch 2 years ago
with a tune, hell yeah you'd beable to tell a diff

LOL! you're an awesome dad! maybe he will get one at 16!! I got flows on my 2000 V6. take car of both him and her!!
FordMustangV62000 3 years ago
Well I don't know about THAT. My first car was a motorcycle because I couldn't afford a car, and I firmly believe that a kid better appreciates something he has to work for, so I'm not sure he'll be getting a 'stang at 16. I know if I did I probably would have lost my license since I did anyways with the motorcycle. You say flows (plural) did you go to dual exhaust on your V6? Is that Flow Master or Magna Flow. Either way, are you happy with the sound and performance? Do tell.
jtothec5000 3 years ago
hey! I got my mustang at 16! had to save up forever! I got an H pipe, with two delta 40 mufflers and 4 inch rolled tips. it is duel. I like that borla. AMAZING in a duel system.
FordMustangV62000 3 years ago
Good for you! I guess I didn't have the discipline to save. Your setup sounds real good. Do you have a video of it?
jtothec5000 3 years ago
I do! on my page its the main video.

haha your an awesome dad
i wish my dad let me rev his cars engine when i was that little. i couldnt even handle the keys
conor1148 3 years ago
Thanks! Yeah, my Dad was pretty cool when it came to cars and motorcycles. I think his Dad was way strict so I got the benefit of him letting me have fun with stuff with motors. Are you a 'stang driver or just like noise like me?
jtothec5000 3 years ago
im a stang driver.
2007 v6 :D
conor1148 3 years ago
Good job on that....Im thinking of buying the borla dual exhaust system for the v6 but i got a gt 500 shelby bodykit do u think it will fit??.....and whats up with everybody asking the same question cant they read the comments lol!
sallmannn 3 years ago
I don't see any reason why the shelby kit wouldn't fit. The main body and frame are exactly the same I think. As far as going dual, I was very tempted, but a guy at a performance shop told me the V6 makes more power with a tuned single exhaust. I don't know if that's true or not, but I finally decided to keep her a singe to keep it a unique V6. Good luck, and yeah, I don't quite get that about not reading the rest of the posts, but I'm not a hater. Peace y'all.

hey i have a 07 mustang with only the V6 in it and i want a little more than 200hp what could i do to my car to give it more bite with out putting a new engine in it and and stay on a decent budget?
skyeonfire 3 years ago
hey man your car sounds awesome...I was thinking about buying this same Borla exhaust, but I don't think I want to do the cold air induction. I have a 2005 mustang v6. Do you think it will still sound as good as yours?
roylat16 3 years ago
Hey, Sorry I didn't reply I was away from the home front. As far as the cold air, any reason you don't want to, other than cost? To answer your question, the 2005 is essentially the same, so I'm sure you will be able to get a much better sound even with just the Borla. I'm so happy with the Borla that I would recommend it to anyone. Good luck, and let me know how it goes if you throw one on.
jtothec5000 3 years ago
Oh, I would love to put the cold air induction also, its just more money than I am wanting to spend at the moment. I really like the soundn of the borlas, but I didn't know how they would sound on a V6. But your video sold me on them. I was just wanting to make sure that if I did buy the muffler, that it would't sound worse because I didn't get the cold air induction also. I really wasn't sure if it even affected the sound anyways.
roylat16 3 years ago
I understand, always this little issue about money... As far as affecting the sound, there is an effect. The more flow you have, the more performance and the better the sound, but I would bet that it would be minimal, even detectable without the cold air. The cold air kit alone claims around 7HP is my memory serves. I don't know anyone that can hear the difference in 7HP through the same muffler. Do you? Maybe some crazy racing pit crew chief. Get the Borla Borla!
jtothec5000 3 years ago
One last question and I will be sold on this my man...when driving around, the sound isn't loud and annoying inside the car like some other systems is it? I'm pretty sure this is what I am looking for because the website says "A BORLA exhaust system, on the other hand, is designed for less restriction, keeping the velocity and frequency high so the main sound is behind the tailpipe" but i thought that i would let u verify this since u do drive around with it everday.
thanks for all your help
roylat16 3 years ago
Your car sounds great...I am going to be getting one in black soon..I will def put that exhaust on hearing this...when you bought the muffler was it the 2.5"?
RoryGraphics 3 years ago
Thanks for the comment. This particular exhaust has the polished 3.5" tip. Borla p/n 11751. You can go to the Borla web site for all the specs. I'm real happy with the Borla and K&N combination. I slapped them on at the same time and the difference was very noticable in both sound and actual performance. I think my next mod will be a performance tuner as I probably need to advance the spark a bit. Good Luck!
jtothec5000 3 years ago
all of a suden he put it into gear...lol. nice sound. i just bought the pypes replacement muffler, but i think this one sounds a little throatier.
stupidsteve38 3 years ago
Hey bro. Did you get the complete x pipe system from borla, or did you just get the muffler and replace the old one. Nice vid stang sounds great.
chubs001 4 years ago
Thanks Chubs,
This is only the replacement muffler (see Borla P/N in reply below).

Stephenism 4 years ago
Sorry I didn't answer right away. As you can tell, I'm real happy with the K&N and Borla combo, but in hindsight I may have gone with a different cold air package only for looks. Some of the polished aluminum packages just look better, but probably perform no better or only marginally. Please let me know if you pulled the trigger on a Borla for your ride and how you like it.
jtothec5000 3 years ago
Dam!! Thats a really nice exhaust sound you have coming out of a V6..Like seriously. Thats the best Ive heard on any V6 mustang. What of Borla exhaust did you get?
Cutegoofoff 4 years ago
Hey Goofoff,
I always welcome good info from fellow 'stang heads.
jtothec5000 4 years ago
sounds good bro, and yea, i went with the dynomax since its got the amount of sound and tone i like, and it wasn't very expensive :) i'd like to upgrade to a full JBa true duals kit... for the little extra performance.
