  • Thanks AussieOldies! This really took me back.....the transistor radio my parents gave me and how it was my most treasured possession and made me feel like a teenager(I wasn't,quite yet...still in Primary school) ,listening to the hitparade, and lots of other great memories.I most probably listened to this :-))!As an expat this takes me back....and takes me home. There's one happy "little" Aussie girl in Europe tonight.

  • Good to hear Ernie Sigley again, I remember all those hits and we didn't get tv until '62 either.

Went to see Ernie when he used to compere In Adelaide Tonight not sure of the year.

  • Terrific mate, loved listening to all the songs, bought back many memories form my teen years

  • Aaah!..the beatles were just gathering a full head of steam ..& the stones ..then 4 years later all that "far out " stuff ....untill ...you end up here right now .

Innocent times are LONG gone ....ha! listin to ernie sigley trying to sound a bit posh !

  • Quite remarkable to hear this. Just tonight we were discussing how appalled my father and grandma were back in the late '60's at Ernie Sigley's "dreadful ennunciation...how is this badly spoken lout allowed onto radio?" Yet just listen to how rrrounded his vowels are in this grab from 1962! Great to hear this little piece of our collective memory.

  • Hey who needs a Time Machine ?

    More please Mr AussieOldies !

  • absolutely great

  • love the "Oh Carol" instrumental played between each song

  • Hey. What fantastic nostalgia. Great stuff

  • Wonderful!...love this 1 John...Billy...

  • G'day Billy ,glad to see your soaking up some good ole Aussie Kultcha .

    Cheers mate

  • There must be hundreds of old air-checks such as this one gathering dust on reel-to-reels. Did this one come from Ernie?? I can still remember having to front up to the studio manager with my tape for his critique. Somehow, I just couldn't erase them later.

  • Interesting piece of radio history. Extremely rare to hear an actual radio program (didn't anyone think to keep some for posterity?). The very amusing Ernie Sigley sounding oh so bland, and not his larrikin self at all. Thank you!

  • Hi Aussie, this is wonderful, lots of great songs here.

My personal favourite amongst them is West of the Wall. . . .and Ernie, he certainly had the goods for radio.

Was this before he was on Radio Luxembourg ?

  • Glad you enjoyed it Deb.I just had to share this ,radio was king in those days ,we didn't even have a TV in 1962.

    Cheers John
