I find the ash interesting. It is the natural/island/faith method to repel Smokey, whereas the Dharma Initiative had the sonic towers technology/foreign/science method. Just another example of the dichotomes seen in this show.
By the way, whether your theories are right or wrong, your analysis is nothing short of stellar. I must subscribe immediately.
thanks. that's an idea though she was quite dead when christian picked her form the fire, wasn't she? i think it might have been hurly by mistake when the cabin appeared to him and he rushed out from the window. than we can do another episode called "everyone blames hugo" :-)
i dont think she was dead... if she was, why was she so surprised to see christian ["dad?"] Also, for now we dont know if the monster can "share" 2 bodies simultaneously.
and if she do, she don't have to be surprised too... think about it. ;)
i assume it does since it takes time for the mosnter/disease to spread and take root as dogen described. it is also residing in the same time in quite a few ppl: lock, sayid, christian, claire and who knows who else.
I agree with you on most of your commentary except that. the man in black reference is more from Steven kings' dark tower series. in which the character is name " the man in black". The dark tower is about a place which is in the center of many universes and dimensions. A lot like a certain island.
lost text often refers to more than one image or book so both can be true. however WE call him MIB and not the creators. and the man who sat in the cabin was already referred to as "the man behind the curtain"...
Thanks you focused on two important quotes that I haven't heard other people talk much about.
1. "good to see you out of those chains, Richard"
2. "I'm very disappointed with all of you" This one especially seems significant to me.
I also am intrigued by your comparison of Man in black with Wizard of Oz.
finally I also like that your meaning in how the asian guy forcibly breaks the eqyptian symbol in two. I didn't pay much attention to it the first time through.

I am so glad You're back carmel...
i think i have a theory about who broke the ash circle around jacob's cabin...
the monster as christian managed Claire to come with him, and ask het to broke it, because he cant, he is the monster, and claire isnt dead [yet]...
