@TropicalFishLovers All beetles are biologically defined, amongst other things, as having four wings: two soft ones for flight, and two hard ones to cover them. Even the males of this species have them. Seriously, look it up.
@memutic But mealworm beetle 'worms' are grubs, not adults, so of course they don't have wings. But they get wings eventually, if they aren't fed to your pets. So, unless this is a juvenile, or a highly neotenous adult, it can't be a beetle.
(P.S. I just did some research: it is a neotenous adult. My bad.)
@dinodude36 Sure, but they are "actual beetles" before the metamorphose too. There are plenty of trilobite beetles that turn into something more recognizable (ie, the Lampyridae family) but this is a special case of one that does not metamorphose. It's a conceptual problem: we also say a chicken comes out of an egg, but we don't say the egg is the chicken before it hatches: even though, clearly, the idea of "egg" also includes the chicken inside.
@memutic True, but I was just pointing out that the mealworm doesn't have wings but metamorphoses into a black, winged beetle. I'm not denying that the trilobite beetle isn't a beetle, I was just remarking that mealworms aren't "worms" their entire lives. (I like the chicken/egg analogy.) Also, nice video
@memutic Hey Memutic i gotta ask you something don't you find it odd that the trilobyte beetle can be in the same shape of the original trilobyte?,i mean its like they evolved into other shapes overtime or something, but overall you just earned yourself another subscriber because of this footage
thats so fuhkin disgusting wat wud u do if u wer just outside 1 day and u saw that thing crawling towards u i wud run to 7 11 gastation to get a taco hahahahhaahahahahahahahhahahahahahahhba random ^_^
