  • that's what I love about Linux, it keeps old computers in the game for another few years. I run Xubuntu on an old computer myself, and apart from a few hardware upgrades, I am able to do more than I would expect on an old computer.

  • im down loding this right now is this the same as the athere ines is theXubuntu 8.0 download a iso i cant what to get it im sick of microsoft and deiling wilth the boot led xp the pc i will run it on is 512 and pen 3 lol than a pc i got going for later will have 2gb proseer and 4 gb ram i bet Xubuntu would run real fast on that lmao

  • yes with 2gb of processor and 4gb of ram it will run super fast.

    Good luck and enjoy it.

  • How Much Did You Get That Laptop For?

  • Bought it on ebay for $75.00 and paid about 25 for shipping. After the video I upgraded the ram to 512mb and runs way better. This cost me $20 on ebay also. It is currently running Ubuntu 8.04 It is not blazing fast but acceptable once it boots up. It came with XP intalled which was a mess filled with viruses and super slow. No viruses anymore.

  • yes. I have upgraded this computer to 512 mb of ram and it performs a lot better.

Also have a desktop computer with processor 1.6ghz and 512 of ram and it goes a lot faster. I have seen videos with other faster computers and it goes blazing fast.

  • will it boot faster on a newer computer, cause that took kinda long..

  • does the mouse and everything work well? did it load all the drivers and stuff cause its old?

  • I'm new to all this. It came with win98 and had viruses all over. In a post I read that best wifi card, since the comp. so old had none was the Linksys WUSB54GC.Just plug in prior to install and it gets the driver. For the mouse, got a cheap optic w/ cord and no driver at walgreens, works great. The printer just plug it in while on-line, try to print and it searches for the correct driver Hp5600 series. got new 512 Ram and Impr. 100% then did clean install of ubuntu which is far better.
