I don't know the exact theoretical explanation, but i do know that when ever you have some sort of major chord, you can play a major scale that is a whole tune down. very cool
I transcribed the same solo -- I play the Bb instead of A (11 instead of 3 over F7) -- I think the line sounds better - Eb maj 7 arpeggio all the way -- even though that is not exactly what Pat played -- I just checked it -- he plays A -- but Bb might have been what he meant to play...
what a waste of notes. All that you memorized when it has lost what a simple Mixolydian could have captured. Bebob. Sounds more like fusion. Not impressed.
he's got it set on clanky and you wanna get that sound rollback on your tone knob ditch your amps bass on 1 or 2 and crank the middes about 7 or 6.. and treble about 50 that way your guitar tone comes out not the amp... trust man you'll get a good sound.. this guys sound is of but the high end sounds clanky... also use flat wounds...
all depends on what kinda guitar i guess.. my strat if i want a darker tone i roll all the way off on the tone knob and leave my amp seting treble 7 mids 7 base about 2.5 and it works... Im also using a fender super twin and it has way to much bass... love the amp tho... but shit it really is a blues amp..
so out of tune :P

Why should I play an Ebmaj7 arpeggio over the F7?

@maigles well you'll get the b7 9 11 and 13th of the F7; I would play an Ebmaj7#5 over a F7 instead cause you'll get the #11th

@MrPlainsteel why ? the tuning is 100% correct. a4 = 440hertz

This comment has received too many negative votes show
needs some work. Slow down and work on your rhythmic accents more and it will sound more clear and enjoyable for the listener. Cheers!

i can't tell if you're wearing a funny hat so i can't tell if this is truely bebop. good stuff though.
DRGasMoney 2 years ago 12
this is definitely Bebop. Pat Martino's music is signature Bebop but with his "extra" touch and style.
5 out of 5 for great job

i find it way better to keep the mid down just as much as the bass actually... if you want warmth after that, you play with the guitar's tone.
