  • @TheExecel wrong. i had a yz250 with a 45 tooth rear sprocket, it was a 2003. just got a 2000 cr250 with a 51 tooth sprocket and its WAY faster than my yz ever was

  • @zwanny1 increased wear and tear maybe, but if you do it right its exactly like floating gears on a car or semi truck. if you just jam it into the next gear whenever however then yes it will cause damage. if you do it when the rpms are just right causeing the trany to not be under load, it will just float or slip into the next gear. hence floating gears

(may be called different name, I'm not sure) But why do you think that when you change gear on a mx bike without a clutch that you don't hear the grinding noise that you normally do on a road bike? Or a car even. Because they have crash gearbox's. Ask anyone on here that knows how to ride a bike. I've been doing it since I ever learned how to ride and I haven't had a problem yet. Power shift if you wanna win, not just look at bikes go past you.

  • Add one tooth to the front sprocket...........I raced a 1992 WR250 from Yamaha for several years...It was so much fun on a long straight to blow by people on motocross bikes...The WR had a low 1st and a tall 4th and 5th.....The 2nd and 3rd was the same as a YZ...

  • Dude, dont use the clutch, the bikes clutch is basicly just for whipping and starting, you can hold that throttle and knock right into the next gear, Thats my style for racing and I always get to first off the starting line. :)

  • ive been told that the 00-01 were one of its best years of the cr250. would the 2002 cr250 have a difference in power being slower than the 01? i just prefer the styling of the fenders of the 2002 than the 2001.

  • @atvman1000 my buddy has an 02 i and am more skilled so i am always faster and i havent ridden it yet so sorry but i do not know i do believe the 00 01 motor was better

  • @shift4life they started detuning the motors in the late 90's by taking more n more weight off the cranks 96-97 were about the last of their best motors but they kept getting better chassis's until around 01 when they started pushing the big 4-strokes hard then they just crapped out\

  • @atvman1000 after 01 honda installed reed valves on their 2strokes and they didnt really get it to work, so after 01 all honda 2strokes basically sucks compared to the other manufacturers. they were way to proud to realize their mistake and remove the reeds.

  • @atvman1000 Yeah I have an 03 and have ridden an 01 in stock form the 01 is a better motor but the 02 on up motor really comes alive with mods IE squish corrected,pwk air stryker carb and pro circuit exhaust and the 3 rd gen is a much better suspended and handling bike not that the 00-01 is bad just the 3rd gen is better in those departments.

  • @borohockey13 actually the newer 4t's have quite good acceleration i blew off tonnes of cr's and yz250's then again i was riding a 4 speed ktm 520sx 2002 so can't really compare cuz that thing was a monster on 2 wheels

  • @shift4life I'm talking to YamMazdaaha I use the clutch when i'm in a situation where it's not going to go in smoothly. And in my vids thats the best place i can jump but u cant get enough speed off the ramp to do any bigger and if you do the tail swings out.

  • @irockoutlouder1 I wasn't talking about the start-off, i mean when you are moving. you let off on the accelerator and it gives you a period of time when theres no stress on the gears and in that time you click it up a gear. Starting off with no clutch however would probably ruin your gearbox.
