  • LOVE IT!

  • I love wet dreams feels so good heehee.

  • All time favourite records (Reggae or not). My brother bought this when it first came out, on holiday in Wales if I remember correctly. Obviously banned by radio (and parents) so we played it whenever we could. Fantastic.

  • MAX told the BBC it was about a camping trip in the wind+rain with his girl. She had to lie down on the tarpaulin while he pushed the tent pole up. The BBC did not believe him. They banned WET DREAM :::::

IT IMMEDIATELY WENT TO NUMBER ONE for ages and ages. MAX still has the TENT POLE and the BBC owe him an apology + a new TENT !!!!!!!! [DO NOT MISS the last 2 words on the fade-out] ps for those not in UK :::"THE BBC" is........ like The Queen with an aerial stuck on her head

  • The misreable fucker who ran our Church Youth Club not only banned this being played on the record player but also stamped on the record till it was in a million pieces.........Me and my girlfirend simply went next door into the church and we had a shag on the alter as recompense

  • mortified when i first discovered this in my Dad's vinyl collection - not cos I found it, but cos I found it n played it, the 6 year old kid I was babysitting for at the time memorised the whole song - nothing more disconcerting than hearing a 6 year old singing at the top her voice "lie down girl let me push it up" needless to say she didn't come to long term harm!!!!! phew

  • Yo, i thought ma dad was joking when he said their was a song with the lyrics 'Lie down girl let me push it up' ahahahaha proved me wrong lol.

  • This used to get played at a Teenagers Disco in York called "The Heartbeat" back in the late 60`s early 70`s my mate tried to convince a girl that it was about a bloke telling his girlfriend that it was easier if she rested while he pushed their tandem up a hill...she did`nt believe him, but 10 out of 10 for imagination !

  • @omega1956 my dad used to play this and tell me it was about a guy putting a pillow in a hole in the roof whenit was raining lol

  • Superb tune, very funny story about your Dad sbasey, I too used to deliver the papers to buy records.

  • @sbasey That's a shocking story! I bet you were gutted. A terrible way for a piece of vinyl to die. Sounds like it went out fighting though.

  • @jonathon301292 im 18 and i love it.

  • @jonathon301292 songs are different when your parents show them to you

  • I haven't heard this since I was at school in 1969 when I was 14. My experience sounds like stebear58 except I was in Battersea in London. Did anyone else go to Battersea County School at that time? We used to play all the Trojan records in our house room during the lunch break. I tried to do the dances that the black girls used to do but all I got was stich!! They were fab!!!

  • Okay we all had silly grins about the lyric all those years ago. But just listen to the SOUND of this record. AWESOME!

  • ska bar, tonbridge dank, dillies in southborough......... fuck me they were the days!!

  • this sounds just like lee perry "people funnny boy"

  • WHERE is Marxi Romeo, I mean his physical body. This rasta is getting old but his music doesn't......where is he? Do you recall his music title 'Stealing ....in the name of the Lord..." It saved a pastor and me too!

  • push it up push it up!!!!

  • 6 человек случайно промахнулось мимо кнопки "like"...

  • I was 11 years old when this was out in 1969 and when a guy played this song and Big Five by Prince Buster at school in the lunch hour in the Music room. I just had to have them so ask friend to get me the 2 45 from HMV in Manchester and i could only play the 2 45 when my mum and dad was out of the house. in them days we had Blue spot (Blaupunkt) the sound was fab for reggae records

  • @stebear58

I was an 18 year-old white guy in a record shop in the middle of Brixton, well into blue beat (reggae). Used to stand in there listening to the first few bars so I could recognise the music and buy the record. All was good back then, or maybe the old time goggles have misted things, i'd like to think not.

  • nice one like i was 14 again lol

  • this song has had more air time at fair grounds around the uk,it was always being played then and still is now...it has a lot of past fond memories 4 me

Mum as this on a single,I play it at least once a week and so supprised to find it on youtube.

Mum tells me it was a very popular song in the late sixties in disco's and clubs.

I will check the label but think the one she as is around 1968 and cost less than a pound. If anyone can give additional info about the actual record release date,Max romeo or the song please do so i would love to hear from you.

  • A friend of mine did a version of this with Max called a wet scene. He went to JA to buy records and stayed with bunny lee. he wanted to do some tracks and Bunny introduced him to Max and they cut the record.
