You are wrong. All a helicopter needs to do a barrel roll is a rigid rotor system and be of relatively small size in order to complete the roll quickly. Just look up the red bull helicopter. What I am talking about is doing it in place with minimum loss of altitude. In reality, any helicopter doing a barrel roll would loose hundreds of feet of altitude in the process.

Yes. Many choppers can, especially one with a roll rate like the Apache. However, it wouldn't look like the barrel roll in the game. It would be much slower, and cause a substantial loss of altitude. That's why pilots initiate barrel roles in an upward attitude. You would never perform one so low, nor from a hover.

@wincollum Some helicopters (specifically high-performance ones) can in fact perform a barrel roll and even loops. These maneuvers are significantly difficult to perform, and I would assume require pilots of immense skill and experience. It's probably why it's not seen on a regular basis.
@wincollum As long as I've been in the Army have never seen it happen. There are some that can, but I think the Apache would need more altitude and lateral space. It definitely wouldn't be able to do it that quickly either.

Apache's are actually very manoeuvrable! However the manoeuvre in the game is actually an aileron roll. As far as i am aware and I also highly doubt this, but helicopters cannot do aileron rolls because they do not have ailerons. Ailerons are found on fixed wing aircraft. Helicopters can complete barrel rolls however which is a different manoeuvre, Google it and look it up!
A friend of mine flys helicopters for a living so i know enough to know what im talking about :)
Enough with the references to recent FPSs. This has nothing to do with MW3 or BF3. An apache may not be able to do a barrel roll but at least this series DOES truly get better every single time they put a game out.

The controls were odd, It just didn't feel right, and the camera was too close to the aircraft I actually got dizzy playing. Gotta love it when the airplane does a 360* at 700+ mph and end up behind the enemy aircraft.
I refuse to buy it, it's total crap. I was a big fan I had my first game back when I had my Ps1 it was Ace Combat 2. My favorite were Ace Combat 2,4,and 5 .

Eh, I always disliked Ace combat and I thought that this would be cool due to the trailer =\ I hate when trailers lie.... I mean an AH-64 doing barrel rolls to evade a Missile. Throw me a damn bone why don't you they dont even follow realistic Protocall for an AH-64...... It takes 15 shots of 30MM to take out a light armored Troop transport yeah my ass...

@wincollum Some helicopters (specifically high-performance ones) can in fact perform a barrel roll and even loops. These maneuvers are significantly difficult to perform, and I would assume require pilots of immense skill and experience. It's probably why it's not seen on a regular basis.

@wincollum As long as I've been in the Army have never seen it happen. There are some that can, but I think the Apache would need more altitude and lateral space. It definitely wouldn't be able to do it that quickly either.

@wincollum Yes, military attack helicopters (especially the apache which I've seen happen) are designed to perform both barrel rolls and loops. Though they are not as fluid as a jet (or as they are in the game) they can perform them. It is a defense tactic and the game, for the most part, captures this. /watch?v=DTtX6GF6D3I

Apache's are actually very manoeuvrable! However the manoeuvre in the game is actually an aileron roll. As far as i am aware and I also highly doubt this, but helicopters cannot do aileron rolls because they do not have ailerons. Ailerons are found on fixed wing aircraft. Helicopters can complete barrel rolls however which is a different manoeuvre, Google it and look it up!
A friend of mine flys helicopters for a living so i know enough to know what im talking about :)

Enough with the references to recent FPSs. This has nothing to do with MW3 or BF3. An apache may not be able to do a barrel roll but at least this series DOES truly get better every single time they put a game out.

@TheHeroofShadows000 That dog fight mode is crap, It's more of an arcade game than anything else. The controls were odd, It just didn't feel right, and the camera was too close to the aircraft I actually got dizzy playing. Gotta love it when the airplane does a 360* at 700+ mph and end up behind the enemy aircraft.
I refuse to buy it, it's total crap. I was a big fan I had my first game back when I had my Ps1 it was Ace Combat 2. My favorite were Ace Combat 2,4,and 5 .

@JetBlast777LR Now, this is my opinion. I've played every game since 04 with the exception of Advance because I'm sure you know, that game was complete shit. I for one liked this game, I know it took a departure from the original formula, but you gotta give credit for where it's due, Project Aces took a big leap of faith for that and I appreciate them for trying. I understand everyone didn't like it, but to each his own. And here's to a hopefully great Ace Combat 7 in the future.

@TheHeroofShadows000 If they gave us something we like then thay can give it to us better and Im not saing ACAH is bad becouse in my opinion it was the funnest AC I ever playd and the online mode brings you back for something new every day unlike the PS2 AC that you have to play campaine only (And we still play them over and over). It just isnt fair that fans talk like that about NAMCO when they put in so much efort in ACAH to keep AC alive just so we fans can enjoy more future AC titles.

They should have made at least the Dog fight crap or the camera angle a bit better, maybe making it so the player could have had a choice whether they wanted to play arcade poop or ACE COMBAT.

@JetBlast777LR I dont know buddy, but if they want to boost sales then its best for the game to be an all around console game, PC, PS3 and XBOX360, probably what happend to AC6 was that they didnt know where to put the game in modern consoles, you see times have changed becouse now days people stick very well to there series instead of bieng all around players and lets face it, filght sims are not ,amy peoples choise now days with titles like COD, BF3, many adventire game and more.

@JetBlast777LR You see, AC isnt like it was on PS2, flight sims are not looked the same today so its hard to give AC a good spot among this other games and its also hard to adjust AC style of gameplay to the general public wich are more adjust to other titles now days, I actually given up all hope of another AC after six becouse it only came out on 360 and didnt sell much but his new ACAH tell me that AC is not dead and Im now looking forward for AC7, tells that NAMCO will send more AC our way.
