Unfortunatly nationality has nothing to do with volume. I have been to this arena many times as it is my home state and I have also been to 9 other arenas in the U.S. and Canada during the playoffs. Raleigh is the only place I have ever felt concrete shaking.

oilers definately the loudest. and everyone keeps forgetting that Rexall Place is the smallest arena in the NHL.... only 16,839 capacity! how big is the Bell center? or RBC center? probably a couple thousand seats bigger. so rexall has less people and yet still louder....interesting

ya so bell centre is almost 5000 seats bigger than Rexall Place. i would agree tho that it would be a toss up between Edmonton and Montreal.

to the tard who said the Oilers were lucky it went to 7 games, you're lucky Roloson was injured in game 1 otherwise the Oilers would have won the Cup in 6 games tops.
And that decibel meter was full of shit. Edmonton peaked at 116dB, for Carolina to be 125dB it would have to be 80 times louder than Edmonton which is impossible.
I've never heard such sustained noise through a whole game than what I heard in Edmonton in '06. Carolina is loud but you don't compare to Edmonton and Montreal sorry

i got this off of NHL . com when the playoffs started they voted Verizon Center the loudest arena. im sure people feel like their teams are the loudest, i know bell centre is loud i love that arena i thinks its great i love the huge lower level and how it extends up behind the goals, most dont do that, and RBC is nice as well [the nes pens arena is pretty much exactly like RBC] . but DC is very loud. looke up "unleash the fury" its a Caps thing its pretty cool, kinda like a crowd pep rally.

cool, didn't realize that. Yeah the RBC centre was rocking that year, the Verizon centre is also crazy, but I still think the Bell Centre is the loudest. GM used to get pretty loud, as did the Saddledome. I would have to say the oilers arena was louder in the playoffs that year though.

the loudest fans in the nhl are the canes it has been said time and time again across the nhl by many people and i would say by the show of support in north and south carolina that we do care. You see hurricanes flags hats and shirts everywhere. we bring the spirit of college atheletics to our games i don't know of another nhl team that has that. but everyone is biased for thier own team

Your fans are only louder in Edmonton because there are no other major sports. The hurricanes are probably the 4th most popular behind College Basketball, Nascar, and College Football. Edmonton was lucky this was even a 7 game series, would have been over in game 5 if Stillman didn't make a sloppy turnover in OT.

you are absolutely right. we dont have any other major sports in edmonton because hockey is religion here and we just dont give 2 shits about anything else. basketball? nope. soccer? nothing pro. football? barely. baseball? ya right. weve gone thru 3 teams in the past 5 years because of little to no intrest. and as far as game 7, there is no luck when u get that far in the playoffs. either u win or lose. we made a great comeback but lost the last game. shit happens.

It's true. It broke a record for one of the loudest sporting events in history. You all can't judge the loudness through a camera because it all depends on speakers of the camera. The RBC Center may not be the loudest every night, but it can be deafeningly loud. mrfinn9, I agree completely. RBC is the only place that I feel the whole place shaking.

Unfortunatly nationality has nothing to do with volume. I have been to this arena many times as it is my home state and I have also been to 9 other arenas in the U.S. and Canada during the playoffs. Raleigh is the only place I have ever felt concrete shaking.

During 2006s ECF and SCF in the RBC Center, televised displays of handheld decibel meters repeatedly showed readings above 125 dB, which is considerably above the threshold of pain. The 133.4 dB recorded by arena staff during Game 5 of the 2006 ECF broke an unofficial record held by the Sacramento Kings of the NBA in the Arco Arena.
