all this tablet needed was windows 7 premium and a updated flash player and it works like a dream..now for me all I needed it for was web browsing and from time to time video chatting. I have a laptop that's for school and work so with this i will use it around the house and on the road...

the only reason i would buy this device is because it running on win7 and it has Webcam.. so actually it almost the same like a netbook since both actually have same processor which is Intel Atom.. but honestly you should wait for the HP slate or Asus EEE pad because its running with dual-core processor.

@gpermata -- Archos is shipping it with a better processor now.

But I'm waiting for the HP Slate coming out within a couple months -- which will have an even faster processor & even weighs a little less. (the HP processor is even better than the Viliv that he demo'd at 23:00...)

(btw, I usu. love Archos, but I'm waiting for the Slate this time.)

@gpermata take a look at Nokia N900(but it's based on Linux operating system, so if u need Windows specific apps it will not be very helpful for u).

I have runecore ssd and the archos 9 runs amazingly fast. Over all less stress and fast boot up speed. The Archos 9 sees an amazing increase in proformance.

I am not sure who the fuktard is, the 3G ipad is locked to AT&T, has no SD support, no support for multitasking, and it does not even have flash support! A complete waste! Cannot even call it an oversized iPhone, since has no camera and cannot place phone calls...

Even better than this Archos, look at a Viliv , beats them both hands down.

yea i will def wait and see if they come out with an updated hardware version... STill better than the ipad.. IDK y ppl are even comparing the 2. the Ipad is just an oversized iPhone/iPod Touch.. this archos device has flaws, but it needs some technical tweaks.

Is not the hardware that is lacking, since it can easily play HD video...all it needs is updated software, a good flash support. the IPad has none.

I agree that the missing flash is a downer, and I hope apple finally realizes the major F up they did by not including it in the iPhone or Touch, but I can still do youtube on the pad better than what I see in THIS video, maybe they had technical difficulties since I get youtube pretty good on my netbook, but anyway, I did more research on the archos, and will be getting both.

Wow youtube was horrible on that, most netbooks can handle HQ youtube video, not quite HD but still way better than that.

Viliv x70 is much better. And if you are into beta, flash 10.1 beta version uses gpu to help render videos so you might be able to watch HD YouTube with full FPS. And maybe even Hulu.
