I realized it was a dream by a very simple yet effective method: Counting fingers on my hand. I casually check my hand when im sleepy, usually theres just those 5 boring fingers but tonight I had 6, and thats when I realized I was in a dream.

@CubeChaps Lol now my dreams gives me tips how to lucid dreams. -______- Like asking me not to blink my eyes. But when i did i keep waking or maybe it was a false awakening
@CubeChaps I used to have that, sometimes still do. It might be because you're dreaming of yourself, becoming aware of your dream. If that makes sense. You're focused on noticing you're dreaming, so that's what you dream, but you're not actually aware yet. It's very close though, once it happens start looking around you, feel things with your hands, notice how real it all seems and be amazed, know it's all made in your mind, it's your world, feel it, then look up and just jump. You'll fly :)
@TailsMilesPrower99 Everyone has dreams, but some people just don't remember them. Try keeping a notebook beside your bed. And whenever you wake up from a dream, quickly write it down in a notebook. Just continue doing this every day, and you should start remembering more and more dreams :)

@MrCasey94 HELP ME!!! my dreams i cant takee control of, its justlike watching a movie. the other day i fell asleep got shot multiple times by a serial killer and did not die? WTF? why what happened??????? i just felt pain. the only time i relized i was dreaming was in my dream went to target and got the inception box set with the case and totem and postors and i was like wait..they are not available in the us..wait his does not look like target, no! i did not get it noooo!*wakes up* so close..
@DeceptionIsTruth You are able to control your dreams when you know your dreaming. Try searching up "Lucid dream guides" on google to find more information.
@TheReasonBirdsFLY1 I managed to do a bit of lucid dreaming accidentally, it was a nightmare and I thought about what was happening, then I managed to take control.
So the question is am i dreaming now??? is this world we live in a dream.. think about it how did we all get here God so how did he get here and so on and so on... is this whole thing we live in a dream and when you die you go into another one WTF man this world is fucked
@yumxx You can't die in a Lucid Dream. In fact they are 100% safe! The purpose of Lucid Dreams can be whatever you want. You can do ANYTHING with enough practice. Some people us them to practice speeches and other things.
interesting idea. i want to do this but im kind of freaked out... can you ever not wake up from a lucid dream? ... in inception the wife died in her dream because she thought it was reality... :S
@yumxx lol yeah there's nothing to be freaked out about. The moment you start thinking your dream is reality, is the moment you lose your lucidity, in which case it just turns back into a normal dream. So basically when you're lucid you can wake yourself back up if you choose. :P
@yumxx no didnt she die because she WAS in reality and thought she was dreaming? she though that she was still dreaming when she woke up and came into reality. so she killed herself, thinking that it was a dream and then she would "wake up". get it? lol
when im in a lucid dream everything is going to fast and im starting to panic as i try to get out and ive heard that if for example that you spin around your dream lasts longer
what im saying is that i think that the more you focus during your dream the more real it gets since your using more of your senses
took me 1 month of doing reality checked and trying all day awareness, just looking around and asking myself if i am dreaming or am i awake, you got to seriously mean it and test it, its exactly what happened for me in my dream, was the best feeling i ever had, was not able to keep dreaming for long, need to rub the hands together next time...
@picaticatara Dude i actually see some bursts or scenes of the future i dont know its the future untill i see it like a month or day or week or even a year later
Yeah, the types of dream checks themselves are virtually irrelevant, for pretty much every time I think to do one it becomes instantly obvious. Unfortunately, I don't *remember* to do them much because I am so engaged in what is going on around me. Even though strange things may be happening, my suspension of disbelief ignores it, just as I would accept whatever was transpiring in a movie. And there is no way to set up a trigger to remind me because dreams are independent of time and place.
Well, these reality checks are nice but they aren't the answer to the question if your awake right now, because if you're awake, you know your awake. And in my dreams I can't even choose what I want to do or think. It's like watching a really weird movie. The first thing my dream has to be is to be realistic, so I have to be in my house or somewhere else and it shouldn't be so strange. I will do some reality checks and hope if I do them in my dream automatically and then get control or something
Question: There's one thing that scares me about lucid dreams: Do you experience pain in them? If lucid dreams are more vivid, is your brain and nervous system 'tricked' into thinking the dream is real? Say for example you lose control and your hand is cut off. Does your brain 'see' that and send pain signals to your arm? That sounds horrific.
I have experienced pain in normal dreams, but I don't know if the pain is imagined, or the result of a random cramp or spasm while i'm sleeping.
@Chapstick817 These questions can be tricky to answer, mainly because LDs work differently for everyone. But basically, the only pain you should experience will be very toned down. You know how in Inception, when Cobb confronts his projection of Mal and says, "You aren't her, you're just the best my mind can do." This is basically the same principle. I once had a dream were my skin was being stitched, and it only felt like a very small part of my skin was being pulled.
i've had about 30-40 ish Lucid dreams now and ive got to say They are the most spectacular things ive ever experienced just think, you can do anything :D oh and what i do for "Reality checks" is well i have 2 things 1. i look at my hands about every half hour (in a dream they will look different) and 2. i touch a wall every half hour aswell (in a dream your hand will either go through or the wall will dissapear! well those are just some tips... Have fun! :D
Well, most of my nightmares feature a murderer entering my house at midnight. I usually grab knives and kill the guy. I usually wake up moments later. Some of my nightmares have been recurring more often now.
I used to suffer from repeated, terrible nightmares as a kid for as long as I could remember. Eventually I learnt how to control my dreams so that I could either fight back or even completely change the situation that I was in. Then the nightmares stopped and I've never been able to do it since!
i've controlled it once..and what ever i imagined on the dream it really did become what i thought of..cuz i knew this is a dream and i'm inside the dream so i have the power to control it...it was like 3 years back..but i can't do it again it's so hard...each time i keep dreamin it's like so real but i don't know how i'm here and where i am..
I used to lucid dream all the time when I was younger. In fact it was more strange to me when I would wake up from a dream and NOT know I was dreaming. I don't know what happened but now I rarely have them. I still have very vivid dreams sometimes, but I don't know I'm dreaming and I can't control anything (directly). When I do, seldomly, realize I'm dreaming, I wake up almost immediately.
Here's a tip. record yourself saying "How did I get here?", edit the audio to make it quiet for one and a half hour, and then to make it repeat "How did I get here?" over and over again, and listen to it on your iPod/iPhone through MP3 while sleeping. should work just fine.
Omg I think I lucid dreamed before becuz i was standing on my couch stretching to the light ad i rose up in the air and it was so real i could feel everything Omg Omg Freaky XDD
I've known how to control everything since I was lil like8 I stil know how but it's harder I can't fly anymore although iknow I'm dreaming. I even remember I was at gun point in a dream and I relized wait this is bs and I tricked my killer to be my slave saying I'd end him LOL my subconsious is so funk retarted haha
and a thing that u neaver whant to do dont ask people in ur dream if its a dream or not. becouse u will usaly get a '' no ofcourse this isent a dream''
well this reality controll sucks. so im gonna give u some more. The most importent one is always to think. where was i before this. Not in every dream u start at home in ur bed some times u do. The secound one if u wake up in ur room or in a bed. u look around in the room is any thing diffrent. The clock thing have i neaver experiensed as well that i always know when im in a dream or not. Look out of a window and if something is weard or unusaly.
I didn't believe all of this bull, but I persisted with it over a fortnight and to my amazement it actually has started to work and it's pretty friggin sick :)
What are somethings i should do my first night before sleeping and having my lucid dreams? Is it hard to wake up from lucid dreams, will i be able to feel an earthquake and wake up?
@SuperKare123 Well, there's no guarantee that you'll have a lucid dream the first time you try. It might take a while. And to the second question, you'd be able to feel an earthquake, yes, and it'd probably wake you up unless you're a very heavy sleeper. If you really need to wake up from a lucid dream, try to get adrenaline pumping, run around, get excited - sometimes dreams lose stability from that sort of thing, so you'd probably wake up.
People I just want to warn you that lucid dream are NOT always cool. If you enter a lucid dream and you haven't manage to control it, you can really have a living hell. Because lucid dream make your dream more realistic but if you can't control them, you can have real nightmare more vivid and extremly more scaring than normal dreams. That happened to me and the worst part is that you can't woke up. So be careful...
.... You do realise that lucid dreams occur naturally, right? I've at had least three without preparing for one. (I couldn't control the dream in any way in two of them, but in all three I was aware that I was dreaming).
So these "reality checks" simply don't work - they only work if you want them to. It's a *dream*. If you want the clocks to behave funny, then the clocks will behave funny. If you want the text to go unstable, it will go unstable. You can't rely on it.
As a person who has experienced lucid dreams and is now training to get them -every night-, I can tell you that this video is 100% useless, and that lucid dream is sure to be the most amazing experience you will ever go through (once learning to make them as long as 40-60 minuets) for the simple reason that you can deside what will happen- you are "god" so whatever exciting thing you may have done, you can repeat and improve it in your dream. You can simply do anything thats just as real as now.
i can control my dream but everytime i control my dream i can't breath and i can't move even i know im dreaming. don't control your dream cause it makes you hard to wake up and if your not lucky you will not wakeup anymore. thats happen to me but yea luckily a woke up because of my brother throw me a cold water in my face.
@egzon951159 You do dream, every night. You just cand remember it. Dreams only occur in REM sleep, so if you are sleep deprived, you wont get as much REM sleep. Try sleeping in for a long time on the weekend. You will experience REM rebound, which will give you approximately two rememorable dreams from that night alone!
There is almost no dream control in Inception. When that dude said something like "You have to dream bigger" and pulled out his grenade launcher... if I had been in that dream I would have made his body turn in-and-out and then made the grenade launcher molest him.
Hey Guys I Need To Ask Something How Can I Dream A Lucid Dream When I Can't Even Dream A DREAM I NEVER DREAM I Dont Know Why I Just Can't Dream Im Just Sleeping And Then I Wake Up And I cant rember a dam thing PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I CAN DO TO DREAM MOREEE!!!!
@egzon951159 You are dreaming all the time when you are asleep, remembering them, and then controlling them is the key. May I suggest waking up in the middle of the night and then going right back to sleep, that always makes it easier for me.
@egzon951159 hi my friend i am gonna try to help u with. If u have seen inseption when they are on the secound level leonardo dicaprio tells the other guy that u dosent remember ur dreams after u wake up.
The thing is that u always every night dream about 3 dreams. And u can train ur self to remember them. I have tried many stuff but u whant to start off with before going to sleep to tell ur self that ur gonna wake up and remember the dreams.and when u do u whant to write them down.
I once realized I was dreaming but woke up immediately. I remember a long time ago that I realized I was dreaming, cut I didn't realize I could change things and quickly forgot anyway
my reality check, can i jump to incredible heights at incredible speeds... I look like an idiot doing this irl, but when im dreaming i look so bad ass
I had this like 3 hours ago ..... I can model the world , I can do everything , but the big problem is my weight , is too big ( My moving speed is verry low and I fell like i have over 300 kg ) ..... somebody know's how i can deal this ?
Ok this is useless video. Why would I suddenly do reality checks in a dream? If I suspected I was in a dream, I would already know I was in a dream. The problem is being aware, if I was thinking of doing reality checks, I would already know I was dreaming.. HOW would I begin to think of doing that in the first place?!
@vicx05 Actually I can see why he would say that. Because I've been in dreams before where I asked myself "IS this a dream?" because it felt so real. Basically I didn't want to make a fool of myself if it wasn't a dream.
My favorite RC that often works for me (as often I mean 3/3 that I've tried in a dream, I did become lucid), was reading something, than reading it again.
wow.haha six or more figers ive never hadthat happen but how i know im dreaming is to like move my hand real fast because you cant make suddent movements in a dream you will stay slow.its like trying to punch in water and its hard to control.
How real can a Lucid Dream feel? like is it like in the real world just that u can do whatever you want or is it a normal dream only that u can controll it
@magicstick91 Lucid dreaming feels so real it's amazing. While your in it you can do what you want and everything will feel so real. When you wake up it may be a little blurry how you remember it but I think that gets better with practice. I've flown before and let me say it's amazing
@magicstick91 well i dont know if im as good as LD4all they are the website i hang around now days but well i am experienced. And i feel that some times it feels like the reality and some times its like eh wtf he just shoot me.its more what you whant it to feel.Becouse you can controll it you can controll the emotion and what happens to you and the rest of the dream..(youre in the controll)
@magicstick91 I sometimes have them, and them I am really aware of my actions. I could shoot fireballs and float a little bit when i wanted to, but there are still things going on arround you that you don't pay attention at.
@magicstick91 Some dreams are more real than others and more vivid but sometimes even after I have confirmed 100% that it is a dream I can still be skeptical whether it is actually a dream or no.
I found I was able to lucid dream after just making a habit of asking myself if i'm dreaming quite frequently. It becomes such habit that you may do it in your dream. Then it is time for you to take over.
imo the simplest way to know you're in a dream is look at your hand. When you look at your hand it looks like you're looking at it through a funhouse mirror. And you can train yourself to look at your hand whilst dreaming by doing it often in real life. Just keep looking at your hand at different parts of the day, and you will be more likely to do it in a dream.
@trvius Yes, the hand RC is a handy one (no pun intended ;) ), because your hands are something you always will have with you in a dream, as opposed to an object that you need to get from somewhere first to look at it :) I believe it was Carlos Castaneda who coined this as a RC - or at least as a way to help in becoming lucid. My hands look usually normal in my dreams.
Another good RC is to count your fingers. I usually have 6 or more fingers in a dream.
@LD4all ere is my question, I can't do this shit because, i dream every night the most random bullshit, i never had a clear dream in my life,so, what the fuck made you belive you can controll your own dream? I NEVER have seen a clock or a piece of paper in my dream. I cant believe you act like a 12 year old. You saw the movie inception and you think you can controll a dream and be like leonardo dicaprio
@Maxovic123 I've had lucid dreams before. Usually what happens with me is I'll be having a regular weird dream and then suddenly you think "Oh shit, I'm dreaming" and then I usually have this tug of war with trying to stay dreaming and waking up. It's very strange. I've found that when I become lucid if I think too much I wake up, so to combat that I just think of nothing. But that only works for what I perceive to be a few seconds.
@LD4all I noticed that. You have to try so hard you imagine yourself shutting them to shut them! The first time I LD'd was by accident and I was just staring at the floor. I knew what a LD was but I didn't know it was one, when I shut my eyes in that way I woke up, which was like "o_O" for me.
@chiffmonkey I've noticed in my dreams that I see through my eyes and I can see through what can only be described as a floating camera, like in a movie. Sometimes I switch between these views randomly or I can see both at the same time, somehow. It's very strange.
@chiffmonkey I suppose so, Imagine having a third eye that's connected to your head but floating 8 feet high and 8 feet in front of you to your right looking to your left. And you can see through all 3 at the same time. So if I looked to the right with my regular 2 eyes I'd see whats to the right, and I'd also see myself looking to the right and whats to my left and behind me.
Great video and tips on Lucid Dreaming :-) Inception and LD'ing are both about shared dreaming when you think about it, it's just that when we Lucid Dream we share our subconscious with our consciousness!
am dreaming right now?

when im in a lucid dream everything is going to fast and im starting to panic as i try to get out and ive heard that if for example that you spin around your dream lasts longer
what im saying is that i think that the more you focus during your dream the more real it gets since your using more of your senses
FacebookTheMetal 8 months ago
@FacebookTheMetal Also, rubbing your hands together works quite well. I prefer rubbing my hands over spinning
MrCasey94 7 months ago
its not that simple
SuperTherock1999 8 months ago
took me 1 month of doing reality checked and trying all day awareness, just looking around and asking myself if i am dreaming or am i awake, you got to seriously mean it and test it, its exactly what happened for me in my dream, was the best feeling i ever had, was not able to keep dreaming for long, need to rub the hands together next time...

in a dream you can only do what you have already done or dreamt of doing previously in life.

@picaticatara Dude i actually see some bursts or scenes of the future i dont know its the future untill i see it like a month or day or week or even a year later
xxmadisxx 8 months ago
@picaticatara That is wrong. Where did you here that?
MrCasey94 7 months ago
Yeah, the types of dream checks themselves are virtually irrelevant, for pretty much every time I think to do one it becomes instantly obvious. Unfortunately, I don't *remember* to do them much because I am so engaged in what is going on around me. Even though strange things may be happening, my suspension of disbelief ignores it, just as I would accept whatever was transpiring in a movie. And there is no way to set up a trigger to remind me because dreams are independent of time and place.
questingQuentin 8 months ago
Well, these reality checks are nice but they aren't the answer to the question if your awake right now, because if you're awake, you know your awake. And in my dreams I can't even choose what I want to do or think. It's like watching a really weird movie. The first thing my dream has to be is to be realistic, so I have to be in my house or somewhere else and it shouldn't be so strange. I will do some reality checks and hope if I do them in my dream automatically and then get control or something
Naud1234 8 months ago
You see, the problem with me is, that when I dream, it's like watching a movie. I can't tell the characters what to do... :P
YoungB0ne 8 months ago
@YoungB0ne But knowing your dreaming is the key to having control! If you know your dreaming then you have complete control!
MrCasey94 7 months ago
Question: There's one thing that scares me about lucid dreams: Do you experience pain in them? If lucid dreams are more vivid, is your brain and nervous system 'tricked' into thinking the dream is real? Say for example you lose control and your hand is cut off. Does your brain 'see' that and send pain signals to your arm? That sounds horrific.
I have experienced pain in normal dreams, but I don't know if the pain is imagined, or the result of a random cramp or spasm while i'm sleeping.
Chapstick817 9 months ago
@Chapstick817 These questions can be tricky to answer, mainly because LDs work differently for everyone. But basically, the only pain you should experience will be very toned down. You know how in Inception, when Cobb confronts his projection of Mal and says, "You aren't her, you're just the best my mind can do." This is basically the same principle. I once had a dream were my skin was being stitched, and it only felt like a very small part of my skin was being pulled.
JapaneseManaphy9 8 months ago
@JapaneseManaphy9 Thanks for taking the time to answer my question! That makes a lot of sense! Especially the point about Mal in inception.
Chapstick817 8 months ago
i've had about 30-40 ish Lucid dreams now and ive got to say They are the most spectacular things ive ever experienced just think, you can do anything :D oh and what i do for "Reality checks" is well i have 2 things 1. i look at my hands about every half hour (in a dream they will look different) and 2. i touch a wall every half hour aswell (in a dream your hand will either go through or the wall will dissapear! well those are just some tips... Have fun! :D

I used to suffer from repeated, terrible nightmares as a kid for as long as I could remember. Eventually I learnt how to control my dreams so that I could either fight back or even completely change the situation that I was in. Then the nightmares stopped and I've never been able to do it since!
1pete51 10 months ago
i've controlled it once..and what ever i imagined on the dream it really did become what i thought of..cuz i knew this is a dream and i'm inside the dream so i have the power to control it...it was like 3 years back..but i can't do it again it's so hard...each time i keep dreamin it's like so real but i don't know how i'm here and where i am..
godofwar123786 10 months ago
I used to lucid dream all the time when I was younger. In fact it was more strange to me when I would wake up from a dream and NOT know I was dreaming. I don't know what happened but now I rarely have them. I still have very vivid dreams sometimes, but I don't know I'm dreaming and I can't control anything (directly). When I do, seldomly, realize I'm dreaming, I wake up almost immediately.
callmebetty89 11 months ago
Here's a tip. record yourself saying "How did I get here?", edit the audio to make it quiet for one and a half hour, and then to make it repeat "How did I get here?" over and over again, and listen to it on your iPod/iPhone through MP3 while sleeping. should work just fine.

well this reality controll sucks. so im gonna give u some more.

What are somethings i should do my first night before sleeping and having my lucid dreams? Is it hard to wake up from lucid dreams, will i be able to feel an earthquake and wake up?
SuperKare123 1 year ago
@SuperKare123 Well, there's no guarantee that you'll have a lucid dream the first time you try. It might take a while. And to the second question, you'd be able to feel an earthquake, yes, and it'd probably wake you up unless you're a very heavy sleeper. If you really need to wake up from a lucid dream, try to get adrenaline pumping, run around, get excited - sometimes dreams lose stability from that sort of thing, so you'd probably wake up.
CheshireLite 1 year ago
People I just want to warn you that lucid dream are NOT always cool. If you enter a lucid dream and you haven't manage to control it, you can really have a living hell. Because lucid dream make your dream more realistic but if you can't control them, you can have real nightmare more vivid and extremly more scaring than normal dreams. That happened to me and the worst part is that you can't woke up. So be careful...

try Salvia divinorum for a lucid dream while you are awake.
thementalpatient2005 1 year ago

When that dude said something like "You have to dream bigger" and pulled out his grenade launcher... if I had been in that dream I would have made his body turn in-and-out and then made the grenade launcher molest him.

egzon951159 1 year ago

Ok this is useless video. Why would I suddenly do reality checks in a dream? If I suspected I was in a dream, I would already know I was in a dream. The problem is being aware, if I was thinking of doing reality checks, I would already know I was dreaming.. HOW would I begin to think of doing that in the first place?!
vicx05 1 year ago
@vicx05 Actually I can see why he would say that. Because I've been in dreams before where I asked myself "IS this a dream?" because it felt so real. Basically I didn't want to make a fool of myself if it wasn't a dream.

How real can a Lucid Dream feel? like is it like in the real world just that u can do whatever you want or is it a normal dream only that u can controll it
magicstick91 1 year ago 9
@magicstick91 a lucid dream can feel more real than "reality". Some lucid dreams are ultra vivid, but a lucid dream can also seem dark.
LD4all 1 year ago 11
@LD4all yeah usually if your fully lucid you can rub your hands together and say somthing like, i am vivid and somehow it clarify the dream
dbs55denis 7 months ago
@magicstick91 Lucid dreaming feels so real it's amazing. While your in it you can do what you want and everything will feel so real. When you wake up it may be a little blurry how you remember it but I think that gets better with practice. I've flown before and let me say it's amazing

imo the simplest way to know you're in a dream is look at your hand. When you look at your hand it looks like you're looking at it through a funhouse mirror. And you can train yourself to look at your hand whilst dreaming by doing it often in real life. Just keep looking at your hand at different parts of the day, and you will be more likely to do it in a dream.
trvius 1 year ago
@trvius Yes, the hand RC is a handy one (no pun intended ;) ), because your hands are something you always will have with you in a dream, as opposed to an object that you need to get from somewhere first to look at it :) I believe it was Carlos Castaneda who coined this as a RC - or at least as a way to help in becoming lucid. My hands look usually normal in my dreams.
Another good RC is to count your fingers. I usually have 6 or more fingers in a dream.
Who wants to share their favorite RC?

I NEVER have seen a clock or a piece of paper in my dream. I cant believe you act like a 12 year old. You saw the movie inception and you think you can controll a dream and be like leonardo dicaprio
Maxovic123 1 year ago
@Maxovic123 I've had lucid dreams before. Usually what happens with me is I'll be having a regular weird dream and then suddenly you think "Oh shit, I'm dreaming" and then I usually have this tug of war with trying to stay dreaming and waking up. It's very strange. I've found that when I become lucid if I think too much I wake up, so to combat that I just think of nothing. But that only works for what I perceive to be a few seconds.
Also, LD4All existed before the Inception movie.
SavageArms357 1 year ago
@LD4all I noticed that. You have to try so hard you imagine yourself shutting them to shut them! The first time I LD'd was by accident and I was just staring at the floor. I knew what a LD was but I didn't know it was one, when I shut my eyes in that way I woke up, which was like "o_O" for me.
NawnExistent 1 year ago
@chiffmonkey I've noticed in my dreams that I see through my eyes and I can see through what can only be described as a floating camera, like in a movie. Sometimes I switch between these views randomly or I can see both at the same time, somehow. It's very strange.
SavageArms357 1 year ago
@SavageArms357 Ooh nice :) Can you see in 4d?
chiffmonkey 1 year ago
@chiffmonkey I suppose so, Imagine having a third eye that's connected to your head but floating 8 feet high and 8 feet in front of you to your right looking to your left. And you can see through all 3 at the same time. So if I looked to the right with my regular 2 eyes I'd see whats to the right, and I'd also see myself looking to the right and whats to my left and behind me.
Confusing isn't it? xD
