Went to see these boys at Bridlington Spa in 1977. I was totally blown away but just as a taster it was only MOTORHEAD in support could it have been any better.
@TheDenodog you were lucky to have Motorhead as suport . I saw Hawkwind at Sheffield on the Quark Tour in 1977 and the support was a new wave band called Bethnal,

Sänger und Gitarrist Dave Brock (* 20. August 1941) gründete die Band gemeinsam mit dem Bassisten John A. Harrison Ende 1969 als „Group X“, änderte den Namen aber bald in „Hawkwind Zoo“ und verkürzte ihn vor Erscheinen der ersten LP auf „Hawkwind“. Der Proberaum der Band befand sich in Ladbroke Grove, einem Viertel des Londoner Stadtteils Notting Hill, das damals als Hochburg der Hippieszene galt. Hier probten damals u. a. auch Quintessence, Pink Fairies, T. Rex und Steamhammer.
