  • he still uses that wheel as a wrestling expression as to how to finish a double-leg takedown

  • IF YOU WANT TO DO THIS THROW DO KOUCHI GARI AND FEED THE LEG TO YOUR HAND THEN GO FOR IT.!!!

  • Its horse stance, not squat stance.

    Just saying.

  • as shown in the beginning it IS LEGAL cause uke made a cross guard grip on his own. and this is the third possibility form leg graps: counter, combination and cross guard (not if tori makes the grip with "diving" like at 0:55) so u can still do this

  • I think its still leagal from this position, when the hand goes across his head like that, when he grabs "Russian style" :P

  • @ warjudoka

It is only alowed on a defence.

  • @ warjudoka

It's only illegal of you direct grab to his leg.

On a defence of o goshi for example it is alowed

  • Lol imagine slamming someone on the concrete floor with it!

  • My favorite throw! Too bad you cant use it anymore.

  • @Ownedyou I know dude...what the fuck. I win (won) most of my matches with Kataguruma....but from what I understand U can use a leg throw to defend? Like go to te guruma after someone misses uchimata....but fuckin IJF makes it so unclear.

  • I am not sure you are right. I saw a clarification which showed in what circs you would not be penalised. Counters was one exception

  • Nice vid man!!! Thank you!

  • Very nice technique! Is your right hand remaining in the lapel as you perform the duck under? I rated this a 5. Thank you very much for sharing.

  • Under the new judo rules this throw is now illegal.

  • i know that leg pickups are illegal in judo shiai, but I would still like to learn it as I cross train in jiu jitsu and MMA where it is still allowed.

  • every sport has rules. they want to clean up judo and make it about the throw. like greco nooo touching the legs..

i do all three.. mma, judo and bjj and they compliment eachother very well.. if you dont like judo why are you looking at judo clips.? to go by the rules and still get the job done requires great skill. judo is the truth.. thanks for the upload!

  • @Hector2028

So why not change the point system to reward clean throws? I mean, some of the "ippon" throws you see nowadays is terrible... You throw the guy and you end up on the bottom?

If you ask me, an "ippon" throw should always lead directly to a pin. Regardless of technique. BJJ has a great rule, in that they don't score the throw unless you get the guy on his back for more than 3 seconds. Simple rule that will make people focus on technique rather than wrangling the guy to the ground.

  • @WarJudoka

more reason to compete in BJJ.

  • @WarJudoka it's legal off of a counter or a combination. It's illegal as an attack because leg attacks are ruining good judo. You can thank MMA. :)

  • @WarJudoka Actually you are 99% correct. You are allowed to do Te Guruma, if your opponent takes the russian style grip on the same side. Check it out on USJ Judo. org.

  • @yussefumaketse

yeaaaaaaaaa. but it's hard to do te guruma, from that position... u need alot of strength to execute tht throw.

  • @WarJudoka no, you can do this in 2 way 1- when you block uchi mata 2- if there is a cross grip

  • @WarJudoka not as counter or combination

  • @WarJudoka not when its a counter-attack

  • I´m sure its not. The guy is attackig hand at first :) Morote gari is illegal. check out the differences..

  • @WarJudoka definitely not true! Example: You can still use it as a counterattack for example against uchi-mata. The direct attack of the leg with the hand is forbidden, not this technic.

  • Not bad

  • That uke is the man, gets te guruma'd and his glasses stay on! Props!

  • in a real situation a te guruma can finish the fight without effort. it's all about the landing.

  • Yep - the landing on the head. :D

  • Its not the fall that hurts. Its the sudden deceleration at the end.

  • well in the streets it will hurt like shit!

  • i must admit. i have watch this video 3 or 4 times every day.

  • when i lift my opponent i often apply him an o-uchi-gari, instead of throwing him to the ground

  • cute comment in the end

  • i agree

  • no it is not illegal..as all he is doing is letting the guy try to get his high grip but making him go to far....really ducking under a grip is while you are standing in shisen hon tai migi or hidari and trying to duck under which could cause damage to their arm....correct me if i am indeed wrong.

  • I believe that ducking under has been made illegal only if you do not follow it up with a throw or an attempted throw. Otherwise it is known as passive judo.

  • true, but as long as this person goes ahead and executes or at least attempts te guruma or some variation, they will be fine and not penalized. but yes, if someone just ducks under and sits there, it's a shido.

  • is it not illegal 2 duck under some1s grip??

  • One of my favorite throws (at least to see...)

    Nice demonstration!

  • Extra clear video, great

  • Nice video.

  • good

  • great demonstration!

  • great !!!!
