  • i wish schools teach asl my french teacher has a deaf son so she runs a asl club but besides that no one at school would even talk about it pay attention to it(no deaf at ne school)i feel so bad fo rdeaf people how they can't hear p.s how do they learn asl or reading if they werre deaf scince like birth practcaly or at least 2-3 years old!!???!!???

  • @lavalamp50000000000 -1st, dont feel bad for Deaf people, they dont like pity, they are not disabled. When you have a proper ASL classes there is no spoken words in the class...its all done through sign. Its hard for them to learn how to read, but they can, they have to, so they can read captions. P.S. You need to learn how to spell, and type.

  • Beautiful, powerful and brilliant. I am in tears. I was so happy to see all your gorgeous faces at the end.

  • I love this song. And I am a CODA so it means a lot!

  • Thank you for sharing this, My mother is accepted by the Deaf community even though she isn't completely deaf. For us it's been a struggle to go back and forth between both worlds on regular occasion. It's helped a lot.

  • one word... Beautiful.... thanks it touched my heart... i am not deaf and no one in my family is deaf but i have a love for ASL <3

THANK YOU! <3

  • this is awesome!! beautiful song, and signs are clearly done for those who are just learning such as myself :)

  • I love this i love that you focus on the signing not their faces it made it easier for me to read what their saying

  • I saw this a couple years ago, along with the "Waiting on the World to Change" video from D-PAN. This one still gives me goosebumps!!! I have since met Sean Forbes after one of his performances! He is a great person, so down to earth! Treats everybody the same, Hearing, or Deaf!! Has respect for all!! His wife is now my ASL instructor! They are doing great things!

  • Wow!!! This is amazing! I have seen many songs signed on You Tube... but never have I seen what I would consider an ASL music video... That is what I've found here and I love it!! I'm about to go looking to see if you have any more posted!! Thank you sooo much!!! :D Blessings in all you do!!!

  • I'm in ASL 1 at my High School, I'm not deaf or hard of hearing, but this video stills gets to me. I recently went to Deaf Expo and CSD to watch m very first deaf football game, and to try to communicate to the beat of my abilities. I love your videos D-PAN.

  • I'm deaf and hard of hearing u guys are so amazing mawh love u guys

  • This video compleatly amazing. Im in ASL and my teacher showed us this video and it just makes me stop and think how hard it could be for someone that is deaf. But its such a beautiful language:) makes me happy to live among the deaf and get to know some of them!

  • This is great but... Why no captions?! :/

  • @symbolt What do you need captions for?

  • @vr4jay You serious? Well, how do I forward this to Deaf friends who don't know ASL?

  • @symbolt Well, its made in the beautiful language to show they are not different. English captions do not translate the signs anyway.

  • @vr4jay They DO translate the signs. A translation is not the same as the original language, it's a translation. Are you saying it's best to ban access (as in "access to information") to the content to this video to people who are d/Deaf but don't know ASL? There are many sign languages in the world, as well as many deaf/hard-of-hearing people who don't sign (to me, that's unfortunate, but that's the way it is).

  • @symbolt Your right, and no I do not think we should ban access. I just think the nature of the video would loose a lot with a translation.

I think its sad that some d/Deaf do not know sign. And for some reason, I did not think about other sign languages.

  • @vr4jay Yeah but the translation doesn't replace the signing, does it? ;) It's always like that with any translation, you usually lose something between any pair of languages (signed or spoken). But at least you understand a lot, and actually, some signs (e.g. iconic ones) are similar across languages, but not identical - seeing the translation may allow a person to realize what the sign means and see the similarity.

  • My little sister has a mild-to-moderate hearing loss. She could be deaf someday. This video mad me cry and gave me a sense of hope. God bless every deaf person in the world and everyone who made this spectacular video.

  • i love this video i hate being a hearing person i would love to not be able to hear people are so mean but yet i love that you focused on the signing not their faces being deaf is not a sin its not something to be embraced and excepted

  • Interesting video. I am trying to learn ASL. Can anyone translate a poem for me into the ASL?

  • @sokal91 I'm in ASL 3 I might be able to help you do you think you can send the poem to me? That's if you mean translating it into ASL Grammar or do you want a video too?

  • @SkyLeoHeart Hello! I just send you the poems. If u can - please translate it in to ASL video. Thank You!

  • Interesting video. Good Job. Can anyone translate a poem for me into the ASL?

  • THIS...is Beautiful!

  • absolutly marvelous!!!

  • i really love this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Deafness runs in my family. I am almost deaf. It is especially hard for me because I am living in a small town with no deaf people. I have no interpreters for school, and I work in customer service with people who do not understand that I can’t hear them. I AM used to feeling stupid on a daily basis. When I watched this video, it made me cry. Just knowing that there is someone who understands me. Thank you

  • @CherryLicious58 YES!! I am the same way... I am hard of hearing, but I am like you, and so is my sister!! These videos mean so much to people like us!!

  • Some people can be so ignorant, they do not realize how "LUCKY" they are to be in full possession of all abilities, both physical and moral ..! Should we "IGNORE" these people ...? Maybe "THEY" need a lot of help themselves ..! (RdLE)

  • @CherryLicious58 Your comment made me cry! I'm not deaf, but what you said really touched me and I'm honestly not just saying that, but this song makes me cry as it is, but I think what you've said exactly how other people are feeling and it bought me tears! It's so nice to see that these sort of things are helping and there are people grateful for it! No, thank you!

  • @CherryLicious58 Also, I muted it and turned everything of, just to see how it would feel! I found it extremely hard to understand, but I can see how this helps people! My respects go to all those deaf people and also blind! It's got to be one of the hardest things to live and grow up with!

  • @CherryLicious58 dont worry, everyone is different, most people just have the ability to hide what makes them different. keep your head up, lives beautiful

  • @CherryLicious58

You are NOT stupid. Embrace what you have. I am hearing and don't understand asl, so I feel stupid. I hope to learn asl and more about the deaf culture. You are beautiful <3

  • GOOD! XOXO FROM PUERTO RICO

  • oh my gosh this is soo awesome i love this music every time i feel sort omg it is so beautiful

  • How do you make music videos like this? i would love to do this.

  • this. is. amazing. !

  • I love this

  • when watching this video, first thing I was thinking... gosh, its beautiful! I felt each hair on my body stood then danced along with this song! True, no matter how many times you had seen them say no no you cant do this, cant do that... Dont take them personal. You are the bigger than you think, so you can do ANYTHING!

  • This is so powerful. I love it more and more everytime I see it.

  • I would marry him.

  • We saw this video last week in one of our Live Labs in school for our ASL interpreter program. I am an emotional person to begin with, and this song has always brought tears to my eyes. But to see it being signed has a whole new meaning. I had seen a few comments about facial expressions. You are right about needing facial expressions, but you can see a lot of expression just from their mouths & their bodies. This is my favorite interpretation of this song. D-Pan always makes great videos.

  • yes beautiful ! that make me feel better !

  • I love the video, but I am curious.... why were the participants faces cut out. I've always been told facial expression is a huge part of ASL. Just curious.

  • @prudgrl1 I believe it's to add to the effect that the video has. You can see them signing but it doesn't show their faces because it doesn't matter; they are beautiful. Or maybe some other reason! But yes, facial expression is a biggie in ASL

  • This video is clearly more that words can describe, it is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

  • Everyone's talent in this video blew me away. Keep it up to inspire and plant a seed in everyone to change toward to a kinder world.

    Rock on D-Pan!!!

  • @Kelly50057 igggnnoooorrraaannnnttt lolllll

  • amazing... now THAT'S and ASL music video people!!!!!! inspiring!

  • Comment removed

  • lol the insults in this video are really generic. we watched this in my ASL 3 class and the mellowness of the insults were kinda distracting. "dumb"

  • when I first saw this, I didn't know sign language. But I fell in love with this video anyways.

Now that I've learned sign language, I understand and I love it even more. :)

  • Beautiful!

  • Saw it again after a long while and I want to say I'm in love with this video again!

  • You can rip the audio-mp3 of this video at grabaudios doht cohm.

  • Love the video! :)

  • Deaf and sign language are both so breathtakingly beautiful. <3 God made no mistake, choosing who got to be Deaf and who got to hear. Each is a virtue, but Deaf is so beautiful that it captivates me.

  • It was reported on a Deaf dating site named Deafornot dot c om that 500,000 Deaf individuals in the United States claim American Sign Language (ASL) as their primary language.

  • thank you so so muoh i am beautiful

  • wow i actuallyu cried watching this-.-

  • i am deaf my self and i hate to say this but being deaf sucks!!

  • @Rockdimond sorry to hear that; perhaps you haven't embraced your deafness yet; or never took sign language. Never, never too late to learn.

  • I LIKE THAT ALOT VERY ADMIRING :)

  • geee .. it made me go to the ugly cry !! looooved it !

  • BEAUTIFUL...You are amazing. Love your work. Amazing. OxOxO

  • omg im cryin!! I LOVE DPAN!!!!!!!

  • i cryed over this vid =( this is pure proof that you dont need to speak to have a beautiful voice!

  • @kellyberger1969 I agree. you dont need to speak to have beautiful voice.

I use part of my ASL in church doing pantomime.

I saw the original video, but I never understood the song until i found one here D-pan video with CC (closed caption).

  • My cousin is Deaf and i speak Asl im so happy that they made this it's so beautiful :)

  • i am curious, are they signing word by word the lyrics? how true to the sourse are they? signlanguage is very beautiful for sure

  • @vivianmari They are doing ASL(American Sign) And in ASL you don't do word by word. When you sign you leave out all the little words IE: Is, and, are. Stuff like that. And the sentences are different. Like instead of saying "She is going shopping." It would be "SHOPPING SHE GO-TO." It's a little different. But beautiful like you said!

  • I do like this video... very powerful and beautiful.... and unique

  • P.R.I.C.E.L.E.S.S.

  • Glad this is back up on youtube with sound !

  • Very unique!

  • I'm taking ASL and my teacher showed me this and it gave me chills.

  • wow this is so beautiful! literaly :D

  • Very nicely done! I ordered two copies, one for myself and one for a friend of mine whose hearing is going, so she will have something encouraging to watch when she experiences discrimination.

  • this music make me feel that what they re saying in sign language is alll TRUE and I FELT THE SAMEE how hearing world disrespecting us but some they were nice even if they help us and that would be the big different but real fact they most to be an asshole even we cant hearr . Agree or not .. love this music giving this a thumb up rate ! way to go DPAN.com

  • i like this beautiful video the amazing

  • I agree with others, this is just perfect! I love this video. :)

  • This is so powerful! I am a hearing mommy of an AMAZING Deaf boy, and I just wish the rest of the hearing world understood the beauty of Deaf language and culture.

  • Jenny- I think the faces aren't shown to illustrate to hearing people a beauty that can't be seen. That target demographic- the hearing- likely isn't familiar with that grammatical aspect of ASL. The message comes through loud and clear. I could be wrong (I don't know that much about D-PAN), but that's my interpretation.

  • oh i see Very Beauitful dream song music Asl Wow nice smile :)

  • Why in the world would you cut off people's faces? I don't get that? ASL's grammatical cues are in the face.. I would enjoy it more if I could see the faces..

  • Thank you for this video I am a child of deaf adults and it makes me proud that we are bringing beautiful words out to everone!

  • Wow! Very awesome ASL. Keep up good work!

  • very beautiful postive!!! Smile!!

  • amazing!

  • oh my gosh!! this is soo amazing!! i literally bawled my eyes out...this is sooo amazing! i watched it like 100 times!!!!! it really touched me...

  • i saw this on d-pan

its so emotional song but really helped my bestfriend Katie who had low self seteem but now shes getting better and have a good confident!

    beautiful.

    thank you!

  • I actually met both Sean Forbes and Joel Martin at an entrepreneurial talk at the University of Michigan earlier this year where they played this video. They are both such amazing, charismatic people. This video is a great example of the truly remarkable and inspiring work from D-PAN which has really helped me actually hear this song and the ones they have posted on their site.

  • ^o^

  • words cant bring us down

  • So beautiful beautiful and beautiful.....

  • That was incredible, the cool thing is that even though you can't see the entire faces of the people signing, you still get all the emotion (and the visual grammar too I guess) from the way they're actually *signing*, and from their mouths. Pretty cool! :)

  • wow amazing interpretation! amazing creativity!

  • 0MG that is sooo koool=]

  • i saw this video in my asl class...

  • I saw this video at DeafNation and was completely overcome. Sean Forbes and D-PAN have done some really incredible work. Check out D-PAN On CNN News!

  • An absolutely "beautiful" video and song. =D

  • very very powerful. thank you for this.

  • I have always wondered .... has Christina Aguliera seen this? If so, what would she have thought of this video? I'm sure she would be so flattered & appreciate this wonderful creative video! :) Good job, guys! :)

  • "we are beautiful inside and outside no matter what any one say wrong about ourself"

That what my teacher use say that to me and my friends and she is right. and love it video it.

  • omg! ITS AWESOME!! LOVE IT

  • oh my gosh this is BEAUTIFUL my brother is deaf but i can't sign that fast... i hope he can join d-pan but we don't live in the states... too bad.

  • Beautiful in deed! :D

  • Thank you for sharing this wonnderful video.

  • I cry every time I watch this.

  • @ChesieKitty me to

  • Great video! I love the incorporation of signing with animation.

  • beeeeeeeeeautiful!!! this is just amazing.

  • This is wonderful! I love what d-Pan is doing! They are making music into something the Deaf can better experience! :)

  • OMG that was awsome

  • i saw this in my sign language club and i was absolutly touched by it

  • That was phenomenally good.

I was a bit surprised by the degrading words that they chose to include, or rather, the words that they didn't include. I saw words like "stupid", "weirdo", and "damaged", but I didn't see "ugly" or "fat". Given that the title of the song is "beautiful", I am curious whether the choice to completely avoid appearance-related words was conscious or not.

  • I think that since this is focusing on Deaf and Sign Language that they chose the right words to display and was not trying to not include everyone.

  • I agree with Uncpa. If you watch the video (by D-Pan) "Waiting For The World To Change" they do the same thing there; focusing on the Deaf culture and how hearing people look at them. You really should watch that video :)

And yes, this was phenomenally good!! I'm impressed!

  • Notice their faces aren't shown. The message here is, a person is beautiful on the inside! Afterall, that's what matters.

  • That is very beautiful. I love the video and the way that all of the signs brought about wonderful pictures for the song. My sister was deaf for many years (until science brought about a hearing device) and she went through a lot. I will have to show this to her.

  • Wow, I have never seen a sign language music video like this! this is so incredible!!!!

  • I'm an ASL student of a deaf teacher. She was telling us about signed music and I wanted to check it out. It really is amazing. I got to perform a song in sign for my church. Maybe I'll upload it.

  • beautiful

  • I love this video! I am hard-of-hearing and deaf in one ear. The first time I saw this was at the Deaf Festival that was held out here in Kentucky yesterday and it made me cry alot because it explains everything I went through while growing up and it also shows how the deaf and hard-of-hearing have to struggle through life because most hearing people are ignorant and are missing out alot. Thank you for putting this up here and sharing it with the world. :)

  • Thanks Sean....the DVD is FANTASTIC !!!

    I love this video.

    -Donnie G.

  • hey im deaf girl this is very beauitful sgin i love it thank you so much :) awesome good job :) really nice this song makes me tears.. and its really beauitful song
