Mainly homophonic and polyphonic texture with sopranos rising to the top A at bar 110 along with the violins to create a homophonic texture. Based on four key ideas with parts imitating each-other and participating in canons. A major, modulates to B major once and E major twice. Oh, GCSE music. How I love thee.
This was particulary inspirational as I used it to practice for the choir I sing in. I would have been happy to have sounded 1/10 as good as this group! A simply grand performance! From a fellow Albertan!
Searched this to pracice this for my choir. WOW! This Bow Valley Chorus sounds absolutely terrific! I can only hope my choir can sound sort of close to this. And, whoever engineered this video did a fantastic job too, the mix was superb. Alberta talent at that! Bravo, hats off, etc.........

@texmustangbullitt Aloha from Hawai'i where our snow is on a volcano! I am British lad, and I was being my usual cultural snobbish self, thumbing through Youtube and then was just put to shame at this wonderfully vibrant Canadian presentation of the Messiah. The orchestra is very nice indeed full and rich. The pronunciation is soft and refreshing. It's a holiday suprise!
Doug, interesting perspective on the vocals. Pehaps their pronunciation is American sounding beacuse they are American. ;-). I found the strings superior as well. What do you think?
@texmustangbullitt agree with you.... a very good group..messiah is NOT an easy work to perform (have sung its numbers many times, did the entire work once, and have even played harpsichord in performances). my only complaint is their pronunciation seems to be a little too american, the vowels needed to be a little more rounded... but still an excellent sound and perfect balance between the sections. very good
@Doug19752533 I too have done this piece many times from HS on to Church Choirs..this is an excellent rendition! They are from just across the border.......
I have just discovered this amazing group of talent! You are truly blessed and your beautiful performance of this brought tears to my eyes!! God's Children you are indeed!
Excellent! I sang in Oratorio Chorus for 6 years, under a conductor who trained with Robert Shaw. Finally I understand, after watching this conductor and choir, what my conductor was trying to accomplish! If the rehearsals can be uploaded, PLEASE do so!
Does anyone know who the Conductor is for this piece? We could do with his 'guidance' and musical verve 'transposed' (pardon the pun), to the singers......
@Gaggymott - The conductor is John Goulart... he is also a classsical guitarist. He lives in Banff, AB Canada. I used to sing in this choir many years ago. he is amazing to work with!!
Wow, I like this arrangement and slightly up-tempo version! There are directors that drag this piece and you feel like the Glory will be here before the section ends. This is lovely. lovely, lovely. Thak you for posting one of my favorite sections of Messiah.

Absolutely beautiful !!! Having sung the "Messiah", it is definitely not an easy piece to sing and sing it well !!! Everytime I hear this chorus I get chills in my spine !!!
What an outstanding group.Last night I sang with a bass section of a church group that performed The Messiah. If we sounded half as good as this chorus, I will be very pleased.
Thank you soo much for posting, I want to sing this with the local choir and everybody there already knows it, so I need to learn it. My mom let me borrow her score, but I just needed the music, and this is an excellent recording for me to sing with! ^.^
The music director is an amazing person. He radiates energy in to the choir. His elegant body movements, the precision with which he signals the start of each piece is simply wonderful.
@Kevin4779 Imagine Halelluja without the lyrics it has now. It would ot be th same song. This song was made for Gods glory and when people hear it they just feel uplifted.
