I've always loved that opening too! I was about 9 or 10 and everytime that opening would come on, I would gaze at the castles and dream that one day I will live in one. Sigh, they need to put this show back on!!
I never missed an episode. Everytime this show cane on, I rushed to the couch and had a notepad and pencil and would take notes on every detail and fact of every mansion. They should have reruns for this! I miss it, would love for them to do Europe's Castles!!! Europe is an endless smorgasbord of castles and mansions!
This was such a great series, along with "Great Castles of Europe". I really wish, especially now, in the age of HGTV and DIY, that people could see how really well-built our homes used to be. Even if we can't eventually afford the grand palaces seen here, we can, at least, partake of the great style and incredibly sturdy construction.
I love the music! Several years ago, on Saturdays, I hardly ever missed this landmark show, America's Castles. I love wood and wood carving, and there is plenty of it in these American Castles. So much sweat and blood, talent and expertise went into building them. They are show places of Art and Craftsmanship!

Other than the fact that it BLASTS out of the speakers at you like a twenty-one gun salute, this is pretty good. I always liked this series.
