  • I was content with a c average.

  • nailed ! Great upload!

  • I thought by the title that we were going to see Eddie Vedder crying because he got bad grades...

  • @KAHNonymousjohn hahahahahahahahahahaha

  • Excellent job from a very discriminating and biggest Police fan EVER!!!!!!

  • Really, really didn't know what to expect from that title....

  • I didn't know he played guitar, I thought he just sang and played piano. My respect for him grew incredibly.

  • Eddie is not a bitch he's a excellent musician

  • @4AJWP Excellent musicians can be bitches.

  • damn. i thought i would see him cry. Oh, well.

  • @oiergasdn /watch?v=AfD1kNu9ufQ&feature=related

  • @AnkHknA oh, wow. this was really... emotional...

  • this version is way better than the police. they should of recorded this in a studio

  • that was pretty damn cool.

  • This is not Pearl Jam, this is worst !, They really fucked this great Police song !

  • @ekjade

Yea definitely...one of my favorite Police songs too. Oh well...

  • This is a Police song ,,,look it up..

  • When/Where/What is this from?

  • 1966 era John Lennon on drums.

  • if pearljam had jimmypage they would have been "Led Zepplin" reincarnated

  • Apart from Eddie, fantastic drummer! Who is he?

  • drummer got chops............. bitch

  • is this pre - pearl jam?

  • @blugoo06 noup...

  • nirvana right on, stupidlitle kitty your name is appropriate

  • Hiwatt Custom 100 Dr-103 guitar amp!

That's one awesome piece of equipment.

  • @milesofsmiles2 so ignorant its unbelievable

  • @maimad you realize that you have some sort of mental illness or disease right?

  • Dammit I wanted to see Eddie Vedder crying like a bitch.

3 stars for a cool Police cover though.

  • this is jsut such a great police song and what a performance by these guys.....wow!!..eddie as always great, and the two guys i don't know are wonderful musicians!! hat down!

  • drummer got skills to cover Stewart Copeland so well

  • Oh man this is so much better than when I saw Pearl Jam play this in 2000 or so.

  • I understand how the music might keep you from noticing due to it's amount of amazingness but .......Eddie was playing a hollow body Rickenbacker guitar......How cool is that!

  • @jasonsadrummer

    Very!

  • who are the other musicians? they are amazing

  • @nirvana3887 C average they are called

  • Misleading video title......

  • @vanillasquirel really? do you not hear the title of the song repeated through out the song?????

  • @vanillasquirel

    Right?

"C Average feat. Eddie Vedder - Driven to Tears (Police Cover)" would be a MUCH better title...

  • how old is this? Eddie looks like a little kid! I love him! Keep rockin' - my favorite all time voice!

  • 94 i think.

  • it's from 1999

  • CAVE RAGE!!!!

  • vedder performing as a trio and playing a police song, wow this is rare... and very good. i'm already searching for more of this show!

  • In this show they also play a great Version of I´m a Patriot ...... Did u find it here ?

  • @IFlipDaScripI nice one!

  • Eddie is a pretty good guitar player

  • it's an old POLICE song!

  • Sounds like an old Police song. At least its in the same genre of reggae influenced semi punk jazz.

  • @DarKmaNiaN it is a Police song :)

  • @stupidlittlekitty :Men in white robes from the mental institution came looking for you the other day and since they haven´t found you yet lets just hope your hiding, sucking on the twin barrels of a winchester......squeeze the trigger...

  • sounds like jazz

  • @marrydruli

    it does sound like jazz!

reminds me of a laid back Mars Volta (musically, not vocally, obviously)

  • Seeing this and more makes me think Eddie as good guy. And talent musician too. I feel ok by seeing this. Still humans in Globe....

  • when was this?

  • "Seems that when some innocent die, all we can offer them is a page in some magazine. Too many cameras and not enough food. This is what we see." - Shame he didn't get that lyric out. Still a great cover of an amazingly powerful song. Drives me to tears every time I hear it.

    END WORLD HUNGER, NOW!!!

  • Im hungry.

  • Terrific drummer!

  • One of my favorite Sting songs, done well -- the drummer is channeling Stewart Copeland, no backbeat here. Is there nothing this guy can't do? Amazing.

  • Who's that drummer? He's really good!

  • Good - he's fantastic! Wonder who he is...?!

  • Eddie says his name at the end, but it's not really clear what he's saying...

  • Brad from C Average. amazing band.

  • Ed probably likes the Police because of Stings connection to the Who in Quadrophenia.

  • so awesome!! no one ever covers this song.. what year is it?

  • is this san diego? did the drummer work at guitar center? i think i recognize him.

  • is that Rickenbacker he's playing?

  • true..never really been into the police..not that they're bad, i just never listen to em

  • eddie's solo shit? this is the police!.....are you serious?

  • @d15er

Pardon me for not listening to The Police

  • amazing.both my fav artist's playing

  • Huh. One song of The Police I didn't expect to hear a cover of. Neat.

  • Is this Eddies solo shit or something?

  • BORING I WANT SEE HIM CRY!

  • HAHAHAHA! That's why I clicked on this link!

  • @stupidlittlekitty Haha same reason i clicked on this video.

  • @stupidlittlekitty I guess your nickname makes perfect reference to your persona. Please die.

  • And also, the reason "grunge" guitar solos get over looked is because they arent as long and self indulgent as many guitar solos in other genres, most "grunge" solos dont last over 45 seconds, whereas metal solos can stretch into 2-3 minutes easily

  • This is cool, who are the people he's doing this with, and what are they playing? im having a really hard time hearing it.

  • Its like they're playing another song entirely.

  • They still have solos, just they focus on more instrumental parts than solos. for instance "Of The Girl" and "Immortality" has some great guitar work. if you count solos as own sections of the song, then no, pearl jam doesn't have much of that. Stone Gossard likes to solo in between Eddies poetry, which makes Pearl Jam so good, they know how to really play together and not divide their songs into verse-chorus-verse-chorus-solo-chorus-outtro. rearviewmirror and in hiding are great examples of that

  • is that the infamous Jack Iron?

  • The drummer rips in here! lol. nice.

  • We also are heavily influenced by The Who, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Cream, The Yardbirds, Iron Maiden, Rush, Metallica, as well as local Olympia bands Karp & Fitz of Depression. If you aren't familiar with any of these bands and are a fan of Rock'n'Roll I would suggest you check out all of these bands. The covers that we do with Eddie reflect his tastes and some of his favorite bands. Check them out also.

  • how can anyone who's a fan of rock n'roll not have heard of any of these bands unless they have been living inside a cave on mars for the past 40 years!

  • Hello Everyone, I am the drummer in this video. Thank you for the kind comments however right here on YouTube you can find ALOT of drummers better than me (Tony Royster Jr, for example and others), check em out. This is Eddie Vedder with Brad Balsley and Jon Merithew from C-Average, in C-Average, Jon plays Guitar. He is playing bass because, Eddie wanted to play guitar. We both are big Police fans and personally I prefer their live stuff (in which they usually play faster).

  • Is this the reason why Jon is using a pick?

  • Probably the reason.

  • Youve got some serious skills, very nice, I loved it.

  • Eddie could sing a page out of the phone book and yet somehow, it would still sound awesome!

  • what year was this?

    and was this bad radio?

  • Eddie played in C Average at the House of Blues in '99 opening for the who. Played mostly covers. Awesome shows if you can get your hands on them. Bad Radio was his bad back in the late 80's.

  • Bad radio

  • Sooooooooo rocks!

  • Oh god how young is he in this?

  • This a Police song, dopes.

  • An Eddie Vedder guitar solo....how un-Seattle of you Ed!

  • I don't get when people say things like this. Pearl jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees, and sometimes Nirvana all had guitar solos. Seattly was hardly an anti-guitar solo scene, except for all the random people who formed bands who had no talent and couldn't play solos.

  • It's just that Cobain went in the media and declared that "guitar solos are passe." He also started some controversy when he said that PJ wasn't a real alternative band cuz of the solos! And when questioned why on their releases after "Ten", solos were a rarity, Mike McReady (sp?) said "We don't want to lump ourselves in with the bands that play them." No solos are a widely regarded characteristic of alternative music.

No disrespect intended, just pokin' fun. PJ and EV make great music.

  • Solos weren't a rarity....every album after Ten has had at least four solos. Live Mike even tears up on improv solos.

And considering how many offshoots of alternative rock there is, it's hard to say solos aren't characteristic. Dinosaur Jr is regarded as one of the first alternative rock bands, and J Mascis shreds.

But still, i get what you mean. Solos or not, some great music was made in Seattle.

  • what are you talking about no solos after 10? have u ever actually listened to Pearl jam Music. Especially live!!!

  • robdmhaze- I have been listening to them for a while, and I dig their music. I have 10, Viatology, Yeild, Binaural, and used to have Vs.. How many solos on Viatology? How many on Yield? And a solo isn't repeating a verse or a chorus vocal melody, or a little 2 bar bridge. It is a complete and seperate section to a song. So I'll say it again, after 10, solos are a rarity for Pearl Jam. And I'm not talking about live....different beast.

  • well i guess you will just have to see them live cause a studio album is for making money live is about the talent and ther music, and they alwasys do Solos in their live music ALWAYS, so i guess they are different yes because they didnt have them in the studio release, but they add them to their LIVE shows, which is stil them doing solos.... and there are solos in those albums

  • In Vs., Go, Animal, Daughter and Leash have guitar solo's.

And for those who think that grunge solo's are short and not self indulgent, then listen to Kim Thayil's guitar solo on Soundgarden's "Like Suicide"

  • ...Alive anyone?

  • Oh yeah! How could I forget?

  • haha thats what i thought too

    lol :]

  • Tune by The Police. good cover.

     Love PJ

  • <3 <3

  • can anyone tell me the title for this song.......

  • nice cover :)

  • Was this Bad Radio?

  • Nadie mejor que Eddie Vedder.

    Su banda sensacional ! cool

  • i want to see more of this!!

  • bassist using pick FTL

  • I use fingers, but it's personal preferance tbh.

  • BTW...that drummer kicks ass!

  • Whoah!...what a drummer

    C Average my ass

  • c average is a band....

  • Yes I'm aware of that I clicked on post comment accidently and didn't finish my comment LOL! Sux when you can't edit LOL!

  • "it is brad wilk" lol

  • U use their name thats cool but no vids in your faves???????

  • holy shit!!!

    Eddie's a Police fan?!

    AWESOME!!!

  • What is eddies actual hair color?

  • brown

  • no shit it is brad wilk.... fuuuuck

  • uhhh, it's Brad Balsley of C Average...

  • dont ruin my fantasies dude :)

  • Are you blind or what? Can't you see? The drummer is HARRY POTTER!

  • touche :)go the pothead

  • great cover, dont like what he did with the solo. i love the original solo bc the phrasing is amazing, and the real reason why he (andy summers) wrote such a 'wierd' and unphrased solo was symbolizing what the song is about

  • fuckin great. never knew they even covered this awesome police tune.

  • pretty decent cover I think.

  • decent? this is awesome. their own version hence the word "cover". good stuff.

  • Eddies no Summers BUT this is fucking amazing two of my favs come together love it

it is such an Eddie Song too

  • don't mess with texas?

  • Part of this band went on with Eddie in Hovercraft. This is the band Eddie played with to prepare himself for guitar duties on the VS. album. Fun!

  • Stewart Copeland II

  • damn eddie looks so young!

  • agreed. somebody please identify this guy

  • what "eddie driven to tears" eddie isnt crying or in tears what the hell?

  • ahaha this is the name of a police's song

  • lol wow that was dumb - good song though

  • o' please

  • does this band have a name and is eddie playing bass?

  • I believe the other two guys are from a band called C Average. And Eddie's playing guitar. The other guy has the bass.

  • yes and no

  • ive had this in my favorites for over a year. i watch it every couple weeks. so damn good.

  • Who the hell is this beast in the drums? He is incredible!! I never thought of having such an enourmous tom right next to the hi-hats - that gives him an edge, which combined with his good taste simply rocks the hell out of Stuart Copeland (who I love as well)

  • Eddie picked the drummer out of the crowd at the east troy 99 show

    watch?v=AVH2slp5QXU

  • That was a fake. The drummer he "picks up" is the same that is playing here with him.

  • Eddie sounds ok but it is certainly not his greatest vocal performance! the drummer kicks ass though! is it possible that it is Brad Wilk former Rage against the Machine Drummer? hmmm :)

  • At the end of the song, Eddie thanks the drummer and says his first name. It's Brad.

  • Nicely done.

  • Who is this fucking drummer?. Cool!!!!!!

I love this version. Thanks x de video :)

  • respect

  • UNREAL!!!!!!!!

  • wow this might be a bit better than the original. great great cover.

  • Im a die hard police fan and Ill say i love this version. Awesome that at 3:00, the bass player goes into the bass riff for Demolition Man from the Police! I like. Good shit.

  • The drummer looks like when Wierd Al dressed up like a nerd in White&Nerdy.

  • He totally blew a line, but kudos to a frog like Ed for choosing such a cool song to cover, and for pulling it off nicely. And by the way, it's spelled Copeland, Mr Dumbass.

  • who's the fly drummer

  • haha why should you copy a song exactly? what would be the point of replicating something note for note...might as well just put on a cd

  • this is junk... nothing like the police version starting with the voice of sting... nobody play drums like mr. copland.

  • nice try but doesnt come close to the police

  • I prefer Sting, but this is cool too

  • who are the guys playing with him? Great drum&bass players

  • great cover. awesome performance. eddies the best.

  • Too bad he didn't play the solo, but regardless great performance!

  • a pretty tight rendition, esp after 2:53
