Andy Messersmith may have bee a baseball player that was born in 1945 but that person is not who this song was written about. Brandon Flowers went to Juab HS and so did Andy (the person he wrote this song about). sunnybunnygrand knows what he/she is talking about.

Andy Messersmith--now my coach. lol. Brandon Flowers, the lead singer, went to my school. Andy was a REALLY good wrestler and was the biggest jerk ever to Andy. Andy went onto being a really good wrestler, got kicked out for anger issues, and is now back to teaching pe at our school. It's hilarious when we go up and yell, "Andy, your a star!" I hit him in the head with a dodge ball--priceless~!!
