Taxi Driver is a Dostoevskyian, Nietzscheian journey of god's lonely man.

Bickle is someone completely sick of it all. He's fed up with the the man, people, women. It's a total punk rock mantra in it's own right.

1976 underground punk was exploding in NYC.

When Becky tells him "you should come with me to a commune," Travis says. "na, they wouldn't like me, i don't hang out with people like that." Punks don't like hippies.

Coldplay is too soft for the hardcore reality of that time.

I saw that video that you told me earlier, it was really poor, a typical rock song that doesn't go well at all with any of the scenes.

I don't care what was going on during that time, just because you put that type of genre in the background and add taxi driver clips doesn't mean it will fit.

But I see the movie in a different way then you do so I don't agree with you saying Coldplay is too soft for Taxi Driver.

I wouldn't listen to what anyone says, this is a good match. Martin Scorsese uses pop songs in alot of his movies. The sirene qualiy of the song makes the image more striking.
