Obama isn't my candidate so I don't really care too much but he clearly answered the question in detail and even if the numbers Joe gave were accurate it would only mean 900$ more in taxes. Of course we now know the whole thing was a fiction so it doesn't really matter does it.

What are you talking about? The US has medicare, medicaid, social security, foriegn aid and college grants, and this doesn't include the fact that there are millions of people who are eligible for pensions. And don't forget that Americans have donated more money to the world than any other country. So the reason why other countries can afford to have "health care" is because their populations are SMALL. We have 300M people in the US. So this is about "apples" and "oranges".

2) Not being a plumber by trade would normally be a mark against his character, but he still wan able to bring to light how irresponsible Obama's tax policy is. Ask your self this: why would you want to expand your business, if you're going to be penalize by paying a higher tax rate?

3) Obama has lied about working with ACORN, including donating $800K for their registration efforts, which makes him just as bad as "Joe the Plumber".

1) I don't see how the Keating 5 connection is irrelevant. At the very least, it raises suspicions on why he would be criticizing a tax structure that would affect someone making more than $250k per year when he only made $40k last year.

2) The tax bracket expands from 36% to 39%. If you're really going to avoid going from $40K per year to $250K per year just to avoid a 3% increase in taxes, then you're just bad with money.

(2) Because you would make more money. Let's say you make $5 million per year. Your tax rate goes from 35% to 40%. Are you going to stop making $5 million a year and cut back to $1 million to save in taxes?

No, what you do is not expand you business to hire more people. If you want an example of what life will be like under an Obama Administration, go back to the Carter years. A flat tax across the board will compel people to spend more.  You'll get a lot more mileage from a national sales tax than an income tax. You buy something at 5 cents on the dollar, that billions of dollars easily.
