The Dinan upgrade looks really quick, can you tell me the exact acceleration speed 0-100 km/h or 0-60 mph? And is their a counter limit to install the Dinan, I mean, is it bad for the engine if you install it when you already drove 180 km?

As much as i love my E39, Most S2 E39 M5's will still get beat by a stock E60 M5. From a stop it would be much closer, but the top end on the S85 is incredible and the S62 just cant keep up NA.

Throw on a ESS SC kit and all the E60 will see is your taillights :)

A Dinan S1 will beat an E60 M5 or at least hang with it. THIS S2... will rape on an E60. Get your facts straight.

Dude, get YOUR facts straight. A stock E60 M5 will be faster than an S2 E39 M5. Its got more hp, similar weight and the SMG transmission makes for much quicker shifts and better power delivery. A dinan S1 M5 is pretty much just different mufflers, a different intake and Dinan software. Your looking at MAYBE 10 horsepower TOPS. Needless to say, an E60 M5 will demolish an S1 E39 M5.

That alone proves how little you know about these cars. The S2 has 470 crank HP, the E60 M5 has 505 crank HP. Considering the weight difference between the two, why you are so convinced an E60 is faster than an S2 is beyond me.

Umm, no. Look at Dinan's website. They list peak power for the Dinan S1 E39 M5, which is exhaust, chip and intake, at 402 hp. Stock, the M5 makes 396 hp. You do the math.

As for S2 vs E60... The S2 E39 weighs 4026 lbs, with 470 hp. Thats a 8.57 power to weight ratio. The E60 is 4090 lbs with 505 hp, for a 8.01 power to weight ratio. The numbers are in favor of the E60. Now factor in the much faster SMG transmission, and we have a clear winner here.

You are comparing crank HP to WHP. You are seriously an idiot dude... and by the way the E60 M5 weighs 4310, with 505hp putting it at 8.5lb/hp

An S2 E39 with dinan cams (an S2 option) puts out 481, giving it 8.3

Factor in the powerband, and a manual vs manual the E39 is more likely to win.

So we'll use 481 as the S2's CRANK hp. It's curb weight is 4026 which equates to a 8.37 lb/hp. Where you saw that the E60 weighs 4310 lbs I don't know, but everywhere that I've seen lists curb weight between 4050 and 4090 lbs. It has 507 hp at the crank (thats a fact, look it up if you like), which makes for 8.07 lb/hp. Yes, this will be a pretty damn close race. But the E60 has the upper hand. Search E39 M5 S2 vs M5 E60 on youtube and you will see that the E60 is quicker.

I wasn't talking about s/c S62's here. I don't even know what your trying to argue? I'm well familiar with the ESS supercharger kit, hopefully one day I'll supercharge my E39 M5. I actually prefer the E39 M5 over the E60 M5 because of its torque and just larger power band. But you can't tell me that peak hp is meaningless.

My 2000 M5 actually got around 22 MGP highway stock, not bad for a 4000lb vehicle. I've since added two K&N filters, and modified the intake to resemble a ram air intake (intake tube fits into fog light assmebly), and I can now squeeze out around 24-24.5 driving nicely.
