@MaxamillionGat that what happens when a studio takes over a project and locks out the guy who created the whole thing and bring in outside editors and try to appeal to the masses.
I can't believe I jus discover Louis Ck three days ago. I mean heard his name popped up every now and then, but I just started watchin his stand-up now.
the girl is a bit of an idiot, their explaining why directors are not allowed autonomy in their films because of the financial disasters of the 70's and all she says is "so what?" Its cause sometimes big budget films don't work, and their more liable not to work when one guy has the final say in everything, its protecting their interests.
I like how Eddie's the voice of reason on financial stakes :) In general I'd say it's better to've back-payments through royalties than upfront payments. Then directors who aren't living paycheck-to-paycheck are invested in the film and paying them is not part of the movie's initial investment cost.
@AlienLizzie yeah my boyfriend gives me a weird look when I try that, lol. I guess Eddie meant it from an evolutionary perspective though, there's no reason for them to appear on men like they do on women from a natural selection standpoint. They're just there on men because we pretty much all start out as female in the womb (I like to say some of us just get demoted but I get groans with that joke :p)
in the uk just about everyone knows eddie izzard, for americans benefit, i dont mean personally know, but who he is and what he does and his quirks, but i didnt realize he was well known in other countries, for example how well is he known in the states? i said earlier about for americans benefit because so many americans have been heard to ask brits "do you know the queen?" is that because they see britain as such a small place and we're all living on top of one another? i dont know
Eddie's stand up had a fantastic following, but he really broke in North America when he and Minnie Driver did a television program called, "The Riches".
@bryngOneOn I watched Dressed to Kill, and most of my fellow US inhabitants know him for that. I LOVED that special. I saw him play a disco bandit, a super villain, a sleazy guy in a French Western. I dig seeing Izzard in things. Is he like super well known and mainstream in the UK? Here, he was somewhat underground for years, slowly gaining mainstream appeal through cameos and whatnot.
@ElPayasoMalo he recently gained national treasure status, can do no wrong in the uk when he did something like 40 marathon runs in in about 40 days or numbers in that area for the uk's only once a year telethon charity show on the bbc, probably stuff on utube on it, i dont think he trained b4 hand and he would stop half way through running to go for a beer in pubs(bars) along the way
@ElPayasoMalo maybe im wrong but americans in the eyes of the british fall into 2 camps, i believe u r of the group that is aware of the world outside the usa, but the other group we see as rednecked, deliverence style, obese and saluting the star and stripes at every opportunity. i claified pubs as bars as slang can often get confused, i made a comment to an american once about going outside for a fag and that means something very different to what it does in the u.k,take care my friend
@bryngOneOn There are the goods and bads in every nationality, and I understand your sentiment. I just didn't know Americans still get confused about what a "pub" is. It is not uncommon to see such things as McFinnigan's Irish Pub here. Some terms are still unknown to us. Like "pissed" and "candy floss." The one that confused me was when my UK buddy was telling me he keeps his huge gun in his boot. We say "trunk." I literally thought he kept his giant revolver in his footwear.
yo no joke that woman is kinda attractive to me I don't want to feel like the only one so thumb me if you agree. not the waitress the actress she looks so normal.
@hollywoodjokerpicalo I've always thought she was exotically hot. She's not the girl you see everyday- but she's really pretty in a non-conventional way.
galling if it's true. like jon favreau and eddie izzard have any business making fun of anyone else's movies. louis ck is a good filmmaker, check out his short films. he's also a funny motherfucker.
This is a really good show. Looks simple but it's hard to get right - well done Jon and Crew. Great guests. It really feels that you are having a dinner chat. More, please, More.
