I am writing on behalf of the production team for an upcoming documentary about Seattle's 1962 World Fair. We found your movie of the fair on YouTube, and are interested in the possibility of using it in our documentary. If this is acceptable to you and it does make the final cut, we would be willing to pay to have the original footage digitized into the highest possible resolution.
There's a guy who acquired a great collection of pictures of the construction of the World's Fair, and many of the images are on vintage seattle DOT org Unfortunately, the site is down right now, but the images are classic, especially if you remember when the only big structures around there were Memorial Stadium, the Ice Arena, and the Armory
YT won't let me post a link, or even vintage+seattle, but just string 'em together
This is great stuff. Thanks for posting. I have to say it again. It is just tragic that so many of the original World's Fair historical buildings have not been preserved.
If the jerks could find away to turn the monorail into open space, an art gallery or a live theater they would. They think all anyone wants to do at the Center is sit on the grass and look at art. Those making these idiotic decisions must be transplantsbecause they have zero regard for the historical significance of the center and its roots to the 1962 Worlds Fair. Getting rid of the Fun Forest is a big mistake and once they rip down Memorial Stadium the Center will lose me as a paying customer.
@zibbyzubb Yeah I agree completely; if they take take down just one more attraction or historic building, I'll probably never set foot there again. The center's coolness has depreciated significantly since the 70s when those idiots started changing things. Point is, it was a lot cooler in the 60s.
Thanks so much for the footage!
I was there yesterday with my kids. The Food Circus without the Bubbleator just isn't the same.

Hey there, 72Devilz. It tried getting a copy of the raw file from you a while back. Can we orchestrate that again?

@zibbyzubb: agreed. The "out with the old" mentality is so 80's.
