Neil Pert..... he is the "best" drummer. I give Danny Carey a lot of style points though, and Tool in general is beast. I like Tool better than Rush, but its fckn hard to find ways that he is better than Neil. It wouldn't surprise me at all, and I've always thought the song definitely had a real personal feel to it. And you're right, Maynard's not one to write simply for the sake of writing a song, there's always more to it (even if it's tongue in cheek -often- or a flat out joke).

I doubt that dude. The rev is an amazing drummer and hes probably my favorite drummer but Danny most likely has him beat, atleast when it comes to stuff like tool. you know i love tool and i understand they are very low key, but i do agree with what you guys say, i would love to see them on dvd cause it sucks watching all these low quality videos. it's fine if they are not all about money but it should be for the fans! i saw them live and they fuckin rocked as cheesy as that sounds, but they did.
i can see why they dont want to be on video, because i get sick of a band when i learn too much of their personality, it loses the bands edge and mystery. They should however do a live dvd, purely gig footage and leave out all the backstage chats and rehearsals if they want.
im so exited for nov. 24. tool is touring the west coast and on that day they are playing at the E center in salt lake city utah. i might end up spending around $150 for a ticket. but it will be worth it

Jst yesterday I bought the schism dvd to hear the commentary...the stupid dual commentary where the commentator doubles a completely seperate commentary OVER the other at the same time. The guy says absolutely nothing about the video, what it's about, or anything even relevant to the video.

I'm not completely sure, but I think their record company Volcano which is owned by Sony Records is in complete control.
I think they had enough of a hard time fighting the Record Company for releasing albums so far and few to bother fighting something like Guitar Hero.
Also Adam Jones plays computer games, so maybe he was really happy about it- after all he's only human.

as far as i am aware that song was a response to some young(ish) man that met them after a show and started bitching...amidst the fact that i wouldn't put it past maynard...as far as it seems he really doesn't write songs just to write them it seems to be more of a story of whats happened to him directly or may have affected him

It wouldn't surprise me at all, and I've always thought the song definitely had a real personal feel to it. And you're right, Maynard's not one to write simply for the sake of writing a song, there's always more to it (even if it's tongue in cheek -often- or a flat out joke).

for sure...a lot of bullshit music has come out as of late and along with bullshit music the lyrics are even worse...which is why i feel that tool is one of the if not the best bands out there...theres so much emotion in the music and the lyrics (most of the time anyways let us not forget disgustipated, haha) its not that "i want to be in the 'alcohol of fame'" shit.

actually all great drummers have their own style so comparing them is useless. you can't compare styles, but the skill of the artist is real. i like joey and danny. but danny is on some plane of drumming that we aren't used to. what he writes is truly the essence of drumming, it is more than just a beat, it is life.

I doubt that dude. The rev is an amazing drummer and hes probably my favorite drummer but Danny most likely has him beat, atleast when it comes to stuff like tool. Im sure the Rev could play all of his stuff, but I doubt the drumming would be as creative in tool if he were the drummer instead, even though the rev can do some weird shit.

carey and joey are both good, but i still say chris adler from lamb of god is better than both of them. However, danny carey makes rock sound cooler with the way he drums...its kind of hard to explain....

JJ CAN drum... hes done a great job with slipknot, but carey and adler cant be compared, they are too different. danny carey makes prog rock intense and fun to listen to, chris adler grinds his double bass and bashes his china in a way that makes LoG's music hardcore! they are all probly just as good as each other but express different skills through their bands and their music

No their not equally good at what they do. your forgetting about groove and feel, which adler and carey have a shit load of, especilly danny. jj plays with no feel or goove he plays an unoriginal style and is uncreative and untill he shows me something different which he hasnt ill continue to think that hes just another ordinary metal drummer with all feet and no hands

joeys ace my second fave drummer he has groove his drumming is quite funky look up the like warm up thing in the road runner united dvd its ace easy to play but sounds kl and danny is beter than joey but joey is beter than alder

haha no... i have the roadrunner inuted cd/dvd combo!! umm dont get me wrong i do like joey's drumming, but he is in no way better than chris adler, and in no way more creative than danny carey! the thing is danny and the other two cnt really be compared, due to difference in style and genre, but if you listen to adler's stuff, watch dvd's and shit, you can tell hes better!

you know i love tool and i understand they are very low key, but i do agree with what you guys say, i would love to see them on dvd cause it sucks watching all these low quality videos. it's fine if they are not all about money but it should be for the fans! i saw them live and they fuckin rocked as cheesy as that sounds, but they did.

i can see why they dont want to be on video, because i get sick of a band when i learn too much of their personality, it loses the bands edge and mystery. They should however do a live dvd, purely gig footage and leave out all the backstage chats and rehearsals if they want.

Jst yesterday I bought the schism dvd to hear the commentary...the stupid dual commentary where the commentator doubles a completely seperate commentary OVER the other at the same time. The guy says absolutely nothing about the video, what it's about, or anything even relevant to the video.

yeah i saw it, it was funny but a lame dvd. at least a live version of schism or something, the rearranged track was trippy but not worth my money for the dvd. danny carey played at the 2006 modern drummer but didnt want to be shown, that also pisses me off. come on! i respect there opinions and how they do things, but the fans make the career, they should do somthing
