  • WHERES THE FUCKING SOUND

  • Somebody has a horrible taste in music, if they're hating on tool.

  • @mario you are a fucking tard hahahahahaha what an idiot with no musical knowledge at all go listen to your lady gaga colection

  • I listen to everything..

  • @MarioBangsAshley first off your name is utterly retarded secondly your mother should have aborted you when she had the chance

  • @MarioBangsAshley mmm... what kinf of music you listen??? I mean, for have dhis opinion...

  • The thing that makes Tool awesome, IMO, is that I can't really hear a "weak" spot. The entire band draws focus. With A Perfect Circle, alot of the focus is on the sound of the drums and vocals. The guitar intro's alot, but after that, they could go for a smoke break and be done with it -.-''

  • .. rocky would fuck chuck norris up... rocky listen to tool, not only danny carey. rocky has a beautifful wife. rocky 1 - chuck 0.

  • what a clean double stroke

  • paimon is the best drummer ive ever heard!

  • what a interesting set up

  • Danney Carey Rules!!!

  • This video's frame rate is way too slow to show Danny's complete Godliness.

  • dear jack. i disagree.

  • Virgil Donati is better :)

  • @auburngoalie WAR CAM EAGLE!!

I agree. but give him credit he's beast. Two diff styles there.

  • Neil Pert..... he is the "best" drummer. I give Danny Carey a lot of style points though, and Tool in general is beast. I like Tool better than Rush, but its fckn hard to find ways that he is better than Neil. Lets face it, Maynard is such an overwhelming force in that band that almost any drummer with talent would do.

  • @JackFucington there's no 'best' drummer. they're both skilled to the point where they could learn each other's drum parts easily. in my opinion, danny is more creative. he uses a lot of independence which gives his drumming more depth and mystery.

  • @JackFucington i disagree completely. Without Danny Carey, there is no Tool. Danny comes up with so many unique tom-beats and rarely does conventional hi-hat/snare beat. Not a lot of drummers have the talent and the creativity to come up with a beat like Ticks and Leeches or Disposition. Without Danny, Tool would sound more like a A Perfect Circle, obviously with heavier guitars

  • @mineonlyhoof both perfect circle and tool actually have weak guitars

  • @Level80irl Tool has weak guitars? the hell are you smoking? The guitars are so over powering sometimes you cant even hear maynard on their studio recorded songs

  • yep its danny carey what else can i say?

  • God is a drummer (he's Carrey)

  • danny carry is god's drummer

  • @valtandom

    Rofl you asshole. xD

    Go train your brain.

  • chuck norris bows to danny carry

  • @MikePostDrums (youtube.com/watch?v=oDCRrWcbw30) Here he is pullin a Rick Allen and makin it look just as easy. Whats hapnin here is (Im a huge Tool Fan btw) ppl are hatin on Barker cuz they are huge Tool fans and dont prefer the sound of blink. I just dont want to see a guy that i have no doubt could sit the drums for an injured Danny Carrey at a tool concert, get trashed cuz he's in a fizzled out emo band

  • @JackFucington The difference is that danny has an economy of motion and barker does not.

  • @JackFucington Barker couldn't fill in for Danny Carey.

  • lol, you guys are dumb. that travis guy doesnt suck, and if you seriously dont know who Travis Barker is then you've been living under a eurorock for the last 15 years, that and your opinion as a drummer must be narrow minded. Barker and Carey are beasts!!!!!

  • @JackFucington Barker is a beast? Since when?

  • @JackFucington Barker is good but he works cymbals too much for my taste, at least in the songs I've heard him play. I like cymbals for emphasis not beat.

  • yes but paiste hooked the man up!!

  • @eurologic

    Ew.

  • who may i ask do you think is the best drummer? travis barker?

  • who is travis barker? what are you, a complete fucktard?

None of you guys know a good drummer if you tripped over one.

try Sean Reinert, Tomas Haake, Dirk Verberuen for metal then try Horatio Hernandez, Steve Smith, Thomas Lang, Vinnie Coliuta for a bit of jazz and funk fusion.

Research those and THEN talk to me because right now none of you are in my league.

  • well thank god you dont know that travis guy cuz he sucks ass.

and those drummers really are great, but ijust think Danny arey is way better than them, but they are good, just that Danny Carey is better

  • well you are truly a fanboy idiot if you think that. I've played drums for 17 years and have more experience than any of you fanobys.

  • @eurologic I would add Iian from the lost prophets to that list.

  • @eurologic i would add the rev and mike portnoy to that list

  • there*

  • If they was one thing I could steal from his kit, his hi-hat, for sure.

  • @rrdrums110

what the fuck are you talking about @.@ I haven't heard anything about maynards sexual preferences, and he's a fucking incredible vocalist. fucking INCREDIBLE

  • exactly, who gives a shit what his"preferences" are. Realize what he can do

  • @SvenIsHere He does cross dress on stage, but so did Bon Scott - and he was definitely not gay!

  • @maxinator96 yeah haha, I know that much; like heaps of musicians before him he's a pretty damn quirky guy

  • @SvenIsHere I love him as a vocalist, but he does seem to be very introverted... I probably couldn't spend a lot of time with him!

  • Seriously Jeff, this time WHAT THE FUCK are you on about ???!!!???

  • listen to how solid maynard is.

danny, i'm lovin the paiste kit man genius.

  • paiste is a cymbal, not a drum kit brand you dickhead

  • fail..he plays a drumkit made out of paiste cymbals....literally melted down cymbals formed into shells....

  • anybody else notice his hihats are in a different spot than usual?

doesnt he usually keep it on top on the toms?

  • this was before he started doing that, needed more room for the extra electronics.

  • yer he does, wonder why aye

  • wow, are you serious?

  • danny carey is the only drummer chuck norris listens to

  • @cardinalbaseballer5 now that was a funny fuckin comment

  • @cardinalbaseballer5 hahahahaha

  • he makes the drums speak so well with that part of the song (more than usual)

  • whats that thing upon the hi-hat? the thing with somekind of picture of star

  • it's called a mandala drum pad. He can make awesome sounds on it. Like on the intro to Stinkfist, you know the weird sounds at the beginning as it starts :p

  • He has around 4 of those "electro-drums" on his drum set. The shapes upon the heads are Carey's own drawings (he's an ex-geometrician).

  • wau thats cool to know, thx!

  • @monochrome666: Sacred Geometry my friend, sacred geometry. Its also part of the reason why he likes equitorial woods used for this drum shells (like the Bubinga Sonor Kit). I think his reasoning for that is they reflect the lunar current better, and allow hecates fountain to pour fourth. No, i'm not tripping on acid. This was what he said in a modern drummer interview. To understand it, you have to read the Book of thoth (Apparently ha ha) Best drummer ever

  • Agreed and I know you're not tripping!

  • That's one of his electric pads he uses for other types of percussion such as that used in Jambi.

  • Those are his drum pads triggered to different sounds and effects that you hear in some of his playing. You can see the brain for them right over his left shoulder.

  • i need a link to all of this over-the-shoulder footage of him

  • athletic guy. good muscular definition on his arms

  • epic amazing win.

  • it must be easy to make kickass music with a drummer like this.....\m/

  • Im a huge toolfan since the early 90s. I wont call them sellouts cause "they sold out long before i even heard there name" but i dont understand the guitar hero deal. Why would a band like tool take part in something so comercial? Is nothing holy anymore?

  • Comment removed

  • I'm not completely sure, but I think their record company Volcano which is owned by Sony Records is in complete control.

I think they had enough of a hard time fighting the Record Company for releasing albums so far and few to bother fighting something like Guitar Hero.

Also Adam Jones plays computer games, so maybe he was really happy about it- after all he's only human.

    Long live tool.

  • Long live Tool Benzies, always. I would never put down or question the bands integrety. But as a Toolhead i have a right to disagree with their choise, after all if Tool has inspired me to one thing in life, its thinking for myself. Learn 2 swim.

  • who cares if they have a song on guitar hero. The only thing its done is gotten thousands of people who previously wouldn't have thought about listening to tool interested in them, why wouldn't they want that?

  • I understand your sentiment towards Tool and them being on Guitar Hero, since it is such a hugely popular game, but you should watch the interview of Adam and the guys who make the game. It's on YouTube somewhere.

Yes, they licensed their music and it's on the game, but they aren't plastered all over the box, they don't have video game versions on their band, they didn't make commercials about it and more people get to hear what breathtaking musicians they are.

Try to not get so hung up:).

  • i agree...they only want people to hear more of their music and enjoy playing it without needing to be musicly inclined..but...im buying world tour just for tool...lol

  • Ha ha, yeah if I still had my ps3 I would buy World Tour just for Tool too.

  • yea you should...totally worth it :) ;)

  • Danny - the backbone of Tool.

  • This part is very complex and perfect at the same time. I'm serious it's a damn perfect drumming.

  • i'd love to have an office just like this one

  • Go listen... I mean LISTEN to hooker with a penis and you'll eventually figure out what an idiot you sound like when you make statements about anybody EVER selling out.

  • do you guys calling them sellouts even know tool?

you bubz need to listen to hooker with a penis or something.

and dont post comments if you dont know what the fuck you are talking about.

  • fantastic drumming

  • Where is this from? Who made it? I wish there were more like this one.

Who cares if their songs are on guitar hero? I say its about time! Now I want some zeppelin and floyd.

  • I wish there was more but better sounding

  • on guitar hero?

i could see maybe some floyd

but apparently expecting some led zepp on guitar hero's never gonna happen.

    sorry dude ):

  • Why not jimmy page is one of the original guitar heros. HaHa!

  • shit hot!!!!!!!!!!!

  • danny carey IS BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hell yeah dude

  • A singer that can hold a perfect scream for almost 30 seconds, at 40 years old is in no way over-rated.

  • your mom is overrated

  • They agreed to be in Guitar Hero for the fans that want to play to their music. But like always they still have it their way, they,ve always been about the art, Guitar Hero begged to use them as ppl they said no, all it is is their art thats not selling out, plastering their faces on it looking like performing monkeys would be selling out

  • Selling out is when you resort to rash decisions and contradict your values to bring in the big bucks, or, in the case you're saying, glory-whores. Now, for some reason, people just mean it as "they suck".

Be careful, some people on here might not understand what you're trying to say...

  • as far as i am aware that song was a response to some young(ish) man that met them after a show and started bitching...amidst the fact that i wouldn't put it past maynard...as far as it seems he really doesn't write songs just to write them it seems to be more of a story of whats happened to him directly or may have affected him

  • haha i didnt know they were in that game...but its fun either way

  • it is so unlike tool to sell out to the man, why oh why did they agree to be in that guitar hero bull shit...

  • to give idiots like you something to talk about.

"I sold out long before you ever even heard my name. I sold my soul to make a record, dip shit. Then you bought one."

  • Hooker with a penis...great song. rather provocative. easily one of my favorites.

  • I really get the feeling that Maynard wrote that song directly *to* someone who said something about them "selling out". It is a great song, so much anger.

  • as far as i am aware that song was a response to some young(ish) man that met them after a show and started bitching...amidst the fact that i wouldn't put it past maynard...as far as it seems he really doesn't write songs just to write them it seems to be more of a story of whats happened to him directly or may have affected him.

  • It wouldn't surprise me at all, and I've always thought the song definitely had a real personal feel to it. And you're right, Maynard's not one to write simply for the sake of writing a song, there's always more to it (even if it's tongue in cheek -often- or a flat out joke).

  • for sure...a lot of bullshit music has come out as of late and along with bullshit music the lyrics are even worse...which is why i feel that tool is one of the if not the best bands out there...theres so much emotion in the music and the lyrics (most of the time anyways let us not forget disgustipated, haha) its not that "i want to be in the 'alcohol of fame'" shit.

  • For money and for people who are not good at making thier own music who want to have fun playing some of the songs that have kept them going over the years. And like always, you're the man. Is that so hard to see?

  • Why is it when a question about Tools intentions come up loads of dickheads shoot on the scene qouting hooker with a penis...?

  • At the same time, it must not be paralyzed into inaction by trivialities, and we should not be afraid to call a spade a spade (no offense intended to Sam :) - and we should deal with problem users quickly, effectively, and with common sense as our guide- especially so in the case of repeat offenders

  • oh god..playing this in guitar hero 4 is going to be absolute hell..

  • Tool should've never agreed to be in guitar hero in the first place.

  • ya that games a fuckin joke

  • Thank you so much for this video!

  • nicely said Themadtapper and great dick analogy they make life worth living. :]

  • actually all great drummers have their own style so comparing them is useless. you can't compare styles, but the skill of the artist is real. i like joey and danny. but danny is on some plane of drumming that we aren't used to. what he writes is truly the essence of drumming, it is more than just a beat, it is life.

  • who is better matters none at all. its like saying, "his dick smells better than the other" doesnt matter, its not a scented dick competition. music is not a competition. and why argue who is better? you still suck at the end of the conversation.

  • u sick bastard, scented dicks? at least try to relate it to something a little less homo

  • HAHAHAHHAHA scented dicks. thats fucking hilarious. whered you think of that?

  • lol a scented dick competetion

  • of course i have hes noted by many as the best drummer

  • sounds amazing

  • I like the drummer Paul koehler

  • I doubt that dude. The rev is an amazing drummer and hes probably my favorite drummer but Danny most likely has him beat, atleast when it comes to stuff like tool. Im sure the Rev could play all of his stuff, but I doubt the drumming would be as creative in tool if he were the drummer instead, even though the rev can do some weird shit.

  • ha! thats good for a laugh.

  • i agree a7x fails

  • they fail long, long and hard

  • u fail mate, they own u long and hard

  • my bad, my bro hates tool and commented this, tool is the sex

  • It seems that there is only one solution, you must kill your brother.

  • Hands down, no.

  • Danny Carey all the way!

  • where do people get these clips of danny?

  • carey and joey are both good, but i still say chris adler from lamb of god is better than both of them. However, danny carey makes rock sound cooler with the way he drums...its kind of hard to explain....

  • Dude you have a fue things wrong. Yes adler is great and so is danny but joey isnt. and if anything danny runs laps around adler

  • dude you are the one who has things wrong!! JJ CAN drum... hes done a great job with slipknot, but carey and adler cant be compared, they are too different. danny carey makes prog rock intense and fun to listen to, chris adler grinds his double bass and bashes his china in a way that makes LoG's music hardcore! they are all probly just as good as each other but express different skills through their bands and their music

  • No their not equally good at what they do. your forgetting about groove and feel, which adler and carey have a shit load of, especilly danny. jj plays with no feel or goove he plays an unoriginal style and is uncreative and untill he shows me something different which he hasnt ill continue to think that hes just another ordinary metal drummer with all feet and no hands

  • true true, each man to his opinion! i dont agree entirely, but yes, he is mostly feet and no hands!

  • joeys ace my second fave drummer he has groove his drumming is quite funky look up the like warm up thing in the road runner united dvd its ace easy to play but sounds kl and danny is beter than joey but joey is beter than alder

  • haha no... i have the roadrunner inuted cd/dvd combo!! umm dont get me wrong i do like joey's drumming, but he is in no way better than chris adler, and in no way more creative than danny carey! the thing is danny and the other two cnt really be compared, due to difference in style and genre, but if you listen to adler's stuff, watch dvd's and shit, you can tell hes better!

  • Danny and adler are both excellent drummers, however danny never plays the same beat twice whereas adler is quite samey, and joey jordison is utter wank

  • Dude is he playing double bass or just keeping time?

  • the former

  • man, who cares whos better and whos not, it depends on the style of the person, of course everyones going to have a different opinion. just because someone doesnt think exactly liek you doenst mean they're wrong. i used to think joey jordison was the best ever, he is a good drummer yeah, but there are drummers (danny carey being one) that i think are better and i just happen to like them more. grow the fuck up and quit being so bias for everything

  • I'm sick of all this "This Drummer or that drummer Pwns this drummer" bullshit that I see on almost every comment section, Especially those that feature Danny Carey. He is an amazing drummer, no doubt about it, but it doesn't make anyone else inferior. Get over it!

    Good clip by the way.

  • amen

  • joey is good, but carey is 100x more creative and he doesn't have to wear a mask to be cool

  • if you seriuosly think joey jordison is better than danny carrey then im speechless. Danny flow is so much more creative and amazing to listen. Joey is good but its mostly all double bass and fast rolls......it gets repatitive

  • jordison cant even touch carey!

  • joey suck but my opinion yeah slipknot can be anoing too i love the old shit its pretty cool

  • What's with only 39 seconds of these shots at a time? If you have the 39, you must have the rest! Come correct!

  • These were actually first posted on Danny's website. It was supposed to be a continuing thing but I only think 3 ever got put up.

  • no, i think this is from his website

  • EPIC FAIL

  • you know i love tool and i understand they are very low key, but i do agree with what you guys say, i would love to see them on dvd cause it sucks watching all these low quality videos. it's fine if they are not all about money but it should be for the fans! i saw them live and they fuckin rocked as cheesy as that sounds, but they did.

  • fucking bad sound

  • i can see why they dont want to be on video, because i get sick of a band when i learn too much of their personality, it loses the bands edge and mystery. They should however do a live dvd, purely gig footage and leave out all the backstage chats and rehearsals if they want.

  • hey dude.

apprantly tool are in the talks about making a live dvd.

though im' not sure how they would film it. u cant take a fucking amazing thing like a live tool show and put it in a movie format.

    ohh and yes

    Danny Carey. we salute you.

  • im so exited for nov. 24. tool is touring the west coast and on that day they are playing at the E center in salt lake city utah. i might end up spending around $150 for a ticket. but it will be worth it

  • Whare does this video come from?

  • fucking awesome drummer

  • Danny f'in rules. I agree w/ Saesays....I would PAY for a dvd of this view for an entire show. It'd be a good marketing thing for the band too......

  • dude, I totally fuckin' agree. I know they're not all about money, but man, just imagine how much they'd make off a fuckin' live dvd...or just a live cd.

but yeah, multi-angle dvd with optional "Danny-cam" badass

  • the one thing that pisses me off about tool, is that they are to secretive. i like there point of view about how they want to sell there art, not there faces, all good stuff. but i think they should throw the fans a damn bone or something. a live dvd or some professional footage. jesus christ!

  • Yeah, I know what you mean. Jst yesterday I bought the schism dvd to hear the commentary...the stupid dual commentary where the commentator doubles a completely seperate commentary OVER the other at the same time. The guy says absolutely nothing about the video, what it's about, or anything even relevant to the video.

  • yeah i saw it, it was funny but a lame dvd. at least a live version of schism or something, the rearranged track was trippy but not worth my money for the dvd. danny carey played at the 2006 modern drummer but didnt want to be shown, that also pisses me off. come on! i respect there opinions and how they do things, but the fans make the career, they should do somthing

  • they'r not sell-outs, gots to appreciate the fact man!

  • That's not a live CD... that was their 1st "album". (Excluding the Demo) Salival is their live album. Do a little more research.

  • is that another hat of in front of the toms?
