@woahXgirl94 Henry did not behead all his wives. He beheaded ONE (Anne Boleyn) because they all said she was a witch + she promised him a son but did not deliver. He beheaded ANOTHER ONE because she was unfaithful and not a virgin like her father had said.
What a funky little island. You people must enjoy getting screwed, to not only never depose your own monarchy, but also to worship it in restrospect. Jesus Christ I will never understand the english. Yeah sure it looks cute in your pub, but do you know you're celebrating the legacy of an inbred psychopath? OH WAIT THAT'S THE ENTIRE LEGACY OF ENGLAND
Yes, it is a real song. And Henry was a good king for the most part. Hes just famous for being a womanizer, which was a horrid thing to be known for. But Im sure there are different sides of the story, besides, the Henry we know today is a hollywood version! A recent find has lead histrians to believe that Henry tudor was shy. Especially around Katherine of Aragon, and Anne Boleyn. The Tudors is a sex filled show, and completely off of the real Henry Tudor.
@HisxLittleXRunaway Not completely true. He was shy with Katharine of Aragon in many ways because he didn't LIKE her. She was his brothers wife, originally. Arthur Tudor, his older brother was supposed to be the King, not Henry, but Arthur died before he could assume the throne. Henry, on the other hand, was not supposed to be the heir, and thus, was not raised to be proud, and confident and regal like his brother was.
@sabradan In addition, he was generally raised outside, and spent most of his time with the servants out-of-doors, wandering in the fields, tending horses, and mixing with the people. Even when he was King, he used to 'sneak' out of the castle many times 'incognito' (I'm not convinced the people couldn't recognise him) and just walk the streets, go to pubs and markets, etc with the every day people. He was a womaniser, though, as generally, I'm sure any one of us here would be if we were king
@sabradan I'm sure he eventually gained his confidence and found his stride because after all, he did become one of the greatest kings, from one of the greatest dynasties in English history. And a note about his womanising/having children out of wedlock/with women who weren't his wife: While technically it wasn't ENCOURAGED, it wasn't discouraged, and many historians believe that it was subtley encouraged for Royals to do this as it gave a greater chance for his subjects, the people he was...
@sabradan ...supposed to be ruling justly and fairly and making sure were treated properly were actually related to him, his children. Thus, this fact in mind (that a certain percentage of the commoners, though he could never know which ones) were actually his children (or related to his children) gave a larger chance that he would then rule justly and fairly, and treat the people properly.
@italoluder Why do you say that? Because he killed people? Killing was a way of life back then for everyone. From the King down to the very lowest: the serfs. Whom, exactly, did he kill to get what he wanted? Anne Boleyn? Yes, he killed his wives. But you must remember, before he created the Church of England divorce was unheard of (literally) and for a queen to fail to provide a male heir was tantamount to treason...the punishment for which is death.
I LOVE IT!! I love the Tudors, love the pub, love this song!! but you got it wrong you gotta say "'enry the eighf am I"...like the song!! I wanna hang out at this pub, where's it at? :)
Ridiculous , Sure Henry is history but he beheaded his wives and didn't have any morals, And now they are making money off of it...
