Its people who don't heed to the evacuation warnings we gave and end up stranded in the flooding and putting our soldiers at risk because they were too pig headed (guys like the cameraman) to leave when a hurricane came to hit them. This was a rescue mission gone bad due to rising water levels and misleading water height.

@cdsulli11 those trucks are called LMTV's-Light Medium Tactical Vehicle, the US Army's most widely used transport vehicle. It is part of the greater FMTV class-Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles. these vehicles are excellent for fording deep water, however these soldiers underestimated the water depth. you can see that the vehicles were able to operate even when the water level was near the roof of the cab but as seen, that is about the maximum limit.

Let's see you synch a SINGCARS, perform night land navigation, splint a fractured limb, hit a target at 300 meters, apply a tourniquet, perform maintenance on that vehicle, clear a weapon malfunction, send a combat message over Blue Force Tracker, start up a DUKE system, send a 9-line medevac, call for fire & then adjust fire. These are tasks that even the lowest ranking Soldier must perform as a Basic Common Task. Some Soldiers do it under fire after they've been wounded.

Deep water fording kits only do so much. This is why we do route recon and ensure that the truck is capable of driving the route..... Yes, they were probably on some "feel good" help the locals mission, but now instead of doing that they are going to have to abort the mission and focus on recovering the two vehicles, spend tens of thousands of dollars repairing them (engines will need re-built, tranny's, diff's and transfers will need flushed as well. Amphibious Ops are why we have US Marines
