Bloody hell Mike Patton has some of the best vocal control I've ever seen. What other vocalist can be as active as this onstage and still hit every note of a vocally taxing song like 'Digging the Grave'?
Mike Patton - definitely the greatest, most original lead singer ever. He never even breaks into a sweat he's so cool despite his extremely physical exertions when performing.
Thery really should have kept Jim.. and well at least Trey Spruance, he does a killer job on the album - Menta wasn't up to the par and Hudson is even further off the mark.. but he has improved thou'
@Nirvanaseattle1 Everybody like as many Faith No More vids at once for the next few weeks. Because when you "LIKE" a video and even add it to your Favorites, it make the video appear on the front of YouTube for all your subscribers. With as many people that are watching Faith No More videos we could flood the front of YouTube with Faith No More videos :) Copy and repost this idea in other FNM vids to get the idea around. Even if it lasts over time, FNM always needs to be front and center.
@hootyhaha And have all the 14 year's old Bieber fans with no taste of music but only listen to what's popular cause they are to insecure to have an opinion for themselves? Naaaaaaah I think I'll pass.
How many other bands have singers in Hawaiian shirts? genius. Last time I saw them they were all in nice suits, and Patten was shouting at the audience that he wasnt going to wear a Pantera shirt for them, the gig was bootlegged and on it you can hear me and mates shouting for this tune, but, they didnt play it.
I think it's cool when Roddy busts out his guitar, and they start playing this song with dual guitars. It looks cooler, and it gives Roddy something to do when this songs up. It'd be cool if they started doing this during their latest tour.
i learned the drum to that song, you know why? i play open handed just like him, and when he is playing on the ride and you hear that fast roll on the toms, he is hitting the high rack tom then the floor tom, while still playing the ride with his left hand, i love playing this song, it is so fun.
yeah i can play both ways but i am open handed, i am left handed with evrything but i am right foot with everything else, but i got bored and learned trad grip and how to play with right hand so now i have 2 rides one in "normal" position and one where i would have it placed because im open handed
thats great, i think one of the best exercices is to reverse your entirely drum, and play with all your extremities inverted. When you play can do exactly the same in both ways, you will be able to do a lot more of things. I think im gonna start!
lol? yes it does man, i can do thing i bet you could never do. and pluss, i doubt you can even play open handed, so how would you even know if it makes a diff. pluss think of this. open handed means when i do a roll with my feet and my hands, they are inverted, right hand matches up with left leg and left hand matches up with lefs leg. and you try to tell me it does not make a difference?
yes im sure you could, i can play both ways, but sense i am a natural open handed drummer i play better open handed. and it is not a technique when you are actually left handed and right foot.
Roddy plays guitar in Imperial Teen (I think) so its not suprising that he plays in this live version of diggin the grave since there's little or no keyboards in the song. I'm not sure he the second guitarist is in that video though. I know Trey Spurance was on the recording of King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime, but I don't think Trey ever perfromed live with Faith No More (correct me if I'm wrong).
Roddy was also trying to kick a heroin habit around this time, that is the main reason why he hardly contributed to the King For a Day album. He really should stick to keyboards since he is a mediocre guitarist at best.
Half the production of King For A Day was put out of place (hence less keyboards) because Roddy's dad passed away. If Roddy's dad didn't pass away, the album would be regarded as the best of their albums instead of Angel Dust and The Real Thing and you wouldnt be seeing him here, on a live tv show with a guitar but instead a keyboard.

In a sense, I think Roddy could've made more of this.
I mean leaving the keyboard for total guitar fest, as in this masterpiece IMO.
BTW, nice post!

Hmmm.... I didn't know that, man. :S
Of course I appreciate what Roddy did on the keyboards. Digigng the Grave is amazing though, right up there as one of fy FNM faves.
Anyway, regardless of what critics say about the albuns, KFAD is still my favorite. I love all of them, but this is the one I listen the most.
