his Iranian ,i'm not saying somebody who doesn't practice the religion isn't muslim although some scholars say if u don't pray your not muslim.
he was brought up in a secular iranian family nobody in his family prayed except his grandma and he thought that was just culture.
he had no idea about islam.basically what i'm trying 2 say u know how even if we aren't practicing islam we are still brought up islamically or familiar with islam .I think that wasn't the case with him.

in his teens he practiced wicca his parents had no problem with it so long as he achieved good grades.If I said that my parents would have freaked out and so would almost every muslim parent practicing or non practicing.
its clear islam wasn't the center of his life.its only later on he discovered it.
