That's Alexis Smith dancing the rhumba. Evidently, during Bette's "Either Too Young or Too Old" number, at the end when she is tossed around by her dance partner she threw her back out something fierce. You can just see her going offstage trying to hold herself up. She was a trooper.
@sporran564 Actually, it was her leg that got banged up. You can see her rubbing her knee towards the end of the number when she exits the nightclub. That, needless to say, wasn't in the script. Trooper indeed.
Wonderful movie and....Hattie McDaniel! I think this is the best of those star-filled musicals that all the major studios produced to promote patriotism during WWII. Thanks for bringing this to us.
