  • Proud to be a Wellesley alumna. I had lots of lesbian friends at school, and most are married with kids. Glad there are ways to show solidarity with kids who are still in high school. It does get better!

  • I've never been to Wellesley College, but I feel like I belong. I've been out for years, but nothing has ever made me feel so at home with being gay. Thank you, from my girlfriend and I.

  • 5:04 what a great loss to manhood, but nice video

  • @MrStingray1985 what a great addition to womanhood.

  • Tribalistic tribades.

  • yay! the're just so cool!

want to meet all of them!

  • Good work Wellesley! As a Wellesley Alum from the time in the "dark ages" when few women were coming out, it is refreshing to see you young people so proud and so willing to contribute to the "It Gets Better Project" to help others along their way. I am so glad this new generation is changing things in the world. I will work to do what I can to make this world a just and equitable place for the LGBTQI community. All Wellesley Alumnae should do so!

  • Is there a gender gap? Inspiring "It gets better" videos have been made by groups of awesome women students. Yet the suicides publicised last year were young men. There is no video featuring a group of male students comparable to yourselves. Instead there are individuals, couples - and it's notable that videos dealing with gay men all prompt pages of homophobic "comments". You are so upbeat, whereas the guys speak only of enduring, surviving. "It gets better" - that's all. What do you think?

  • oh, the girl from 2:20 is really cute, come to Poland, please :-)

  • can you transcribe video for deaf viewers? I love Wellesley but can't understand it. D:

  • @oibara2 What part of this was "swallowing any kind of leftist diatribe" or flaunting some vague notion of an "alternative" lifestyle (seriously, what the hell does that even mean)? The whole purpose of these "It Gets Better" videos is to reach out to LGBTQ youth. Nothing about this is superficial. I think that in some ways, this video in particular is more constructive than any other "It Gets Better" video I've seen so far. It certainly made me feel better. And really, that's the point, no?

  • i didn't realise south park's parodies of left-wing americans were accurate. there's such a difference between being open-minded and eagerly swallowing any kind of leftist diatribe and trying to wear how 'alternative' you are on your sleeve (or skin, as is evident here). americans are hilarious.

  • who disliked this? way to go all of you lesbians at wellesley

  • Loved this, thanks to all of you I see on campus everyday, what a gift.

  • @tripod863 Obviously, Wellesley College didn't think this video was drivel, or they wouldn't have posted a link to it on the school homepage.

    BAM!

  • I am very proud of my Wellesley students. You are making a difference in someone's life.

  • @catiacecilia thank you i will suportt this in every way i can for you and my family and friends that has been called names an everything and pick on but i was always behind thenm in everything i love who and what they stand for and no one can change that and who there where so i say god bless them all and i will take anyone that would love for me to add them have a bless day patricia

  • GET IT JOJO

  • I love this video. I am so proud of all my friends who are in it. You all are very brave and making a great difference in many people's lives. Thank you all.

  • I love this video. I am so proud of all my friends who are in it. Thank you all.

  • Tripod 863 is just making me lol at this point. Seriously, she's supposed to be the mature one? She's asking people on the interwebs to leave her old school because she disagrees with them. And telling these people they're all going to fail at life. That sounds like the kinds of insults I heard in fifth grade and middle school, not the real world.

  • in the real world my whole life. If living in the real world has made you bitter and self-righteous, that's fine for you, but keep your anger to yourself. This is a place for support and love, which you obviously have none of. So back off.

Wellesley, I am so proud to be a part of your community.

  • excuse me tripod, but where does money come into being gay, at all? I pay for college myself and come from a very poor background so you can just shut the hell up. This video was extremely well done and shows how most (but, obviously, not all) of the students here are progressive/wonderfully open-minded, supportive, intelligent, creative, and strong women who will make a difference in the world. I don't care how much "life experience" you have- I have lots too and have been working and living

  • @tripod863 Obvious troll is obvious.

  • @tripod863 You are not a troll because you have different opinions than me. How do you even know you have different opinions than me? I did not present any. No, you are a troll because you are insulting people for no other reason than to get a response. Oh, and I'm a straight kid on financial aid if that'll feed your fire at all, and I personally do not like Dan Savage, the guy who started this movement. See, that is an opinion, not an insult. This'll be my last response to you, enjoy yourself.

  • @tripod863 Why don't you just calm down. Honestly, everyone who helped make this video and everyone in support of it is just trying to send out good vibes to the larger lgbtq community. You really should stop taking out your aggression against WC on this video, where it has no place. Yes, Wellesley is not the world, and yes, Wellesley women are not perfect. That's not what this is about, so stop trying to detract from this cause.

  • @tripod863 Sucks that you didn't like Wellesley. No reason to take it out on people who do though.

  • @tripod863 Would you like a fucking prize? Hateful bitch. Little miss "I'll have you know" (who even says that?), get off your high goddamn horse. I'm an alum, as well, and the only reason Wellesley wouldn't be a great prep for the real world is because liberal arts education in general is less career-oriented than other academic programs. Otherwise, who gives a shit how we behave socially? Tufts students run around naked in Somerville once a year, and they get jobs, lol.

  • love it. proud to be a WC alum.

  • wow. this is awesome. I am always so very proud of Wellesley and the women there. People joke about Wellesley being a bubble, but it isn't. It is no more a bubble than a cul-de-sac cookie cutter house neighborhood in the burbs. It is a community that is run on the ideals that the students, faculty, staff and administration set forth. It varies from decade to decade as classes change, curriculum changes, society changes. One thing never changes and that's its support for ALL women. You all rock!

  • This is a beautiful video - it makes me proud of Wellesley College.

  • This makes me proud to be a Wellesley ally. Thanks to all you brave and strong ladies who made this (especial hugs to Sam!) Wellesley gave me the chance to develop my understanding of and compassion for the LGBT community, something I didn't get growing up in a conservative city out west. It's a great place to hone your mind and build lasting friendships in an accepting and nourishing environment, whether straight or queer.

  • I never want to leave this place. You guys rock my world.

  • Swell video, ladies! I'm so proud to be a Wendy :)

  • This video was absolutely amazing and beautiful! I'm so proud to be attending the same institution of such courageous and strong women!

  • @tripod863 That they're brave enough to be true themselves in face of bigots like you. THAT is what makes them courageous. It's not just the video, it's what they go through EVERY DAY in a world that preaches hatred towards them, that somehow they are lesser human beings because they are different from what society has deemed the norm. They don't give up. They WON'T give up. THAT makes them courageous.

  • I don't think I could say it any better than @ameliapolyester did... And this video makes me dearly miss being on Wellesley's campus. One of the (many) reasons that Wellesley is such an amazing institution is that our community is so supportive of women of all backgrounds, orientations, beliefs, and so on... and they are supportive of our every endeavor in life. And I just hope that more people come to embrace the example set forth by Wellesley.

  • tripob863 is totes jealous that we get to be gay, safe, have gay allies, supportive staff, and INCREDIBLE community - and hope.

Also. I know all (most) of you, love all of you, and shall hunt you all down and hug you to bits. pip pip

  • @tripod863 i'm a wellesley college student and have yet to meet anyone but incredibly intelligent women from very diverse and primarily underprivileged homes. so please don't make assumptions about the student body that are absolutely unfounded and false

  • @tripod863 If you're going to criticize someone else's English, I would double check your own grammar before posting. Just saying.

  • Aww, this makes me miss Wellesley! I'm proud of you guys!

  • thank you for making this video

  • Awesome video! :) Proud of everyone here... <3

@tripod863 This video is one reason why I'm proud to be at Wellesley. It's an institution that embraces and empowers ALL women.

  • I love this video! You guys are great. I'm so proud to be a member of Wellesley's LGBTQQAAI community!

  • this is awesome and adorable. yay wellesley love!

also... i beg to disagree tripod863. providing support for the queer community online doesn't make the institution look like a queer-driven sorority. if that was true, then do the campus-wide parties and the subsequent photos that get posted on the internet make wellesley look like a party school?

  • I am so so so proud of everyone who was featured or made this video. Just brava!!!

  • @tripod863

And some people still live in the bubble and want to enjoy it while they can. And some of us are glad to support them even if we don't need that particular bubble ourselves!! Back off.

  • @tripod863 What about this marks the institution as "queer-driven"? Are you familiar with the purpose of the "It Gets Better" project, at all? On the contrary, I think this reflects positively on our institution. If you're worried about the students in this video damaging your idea of what our institution should look like, you need to rearrange your priorities.

And even if you're a Wellesley alumna, parent, faculty or staff, your statement is no more valid than ours.

  • @tripod863 Many schools and other institutions have chosen to voice their support of the LGBTQ community in this difficult time. This support does not mean that the LGBTQ women in this video are representative of the entire college. In fact, Wellesley's percentage of LGBTQ students is approximately that of the national average. In addition, sharing supportive experiences with similar students who might be experiencing these difficult issues should NOT be considered "shielding" them.
