@Cartoonothing Sweet Ann was the first Vocaloid2 vocaloid. Her Taiwan boxart design was made 3 years later...I don't really think they'll end up using it now. And a LOT of people hate Al's XDDD

If you look up her wiki page on the vcaoloid wikia, you'll find links to her version of several songs such as Amazing grace, Killing me softly with his song, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus. All of which, Ann's voice suits pretty much perfectly.

I think it sounds kinda nice, just that it sounds like a puppet techno mouth Big Al voice and Both of their voices sound purposely unrealistic, but that's not the problem (everyone has their own like when it comes to voices). The problem is their box cover art! They kind of look old fashoned and creepy. (although many also have their own like in art too)

The Japanese Vocaloids are better because the Japanese vocabulary is very strict. One letter is exactly one syllable. For example, Hatsune Miku. 5 syllables, 5 letters. All you need to synthesize are just the letters, since in Japanese, you just pronounce the letter. In English, you kinda mold letters together.

I think PFX and ZG were afraid to cater to ppl who like characterization. (Just In My Opinion) They wanted to be taken seriously, so putting too much emphasis on personification would lose their musician audience.

But at least PFX gave faces to the voices, I think it makes the program more inviting. I am a Sweet Ann fan.

ZeroG came late and finally created Sonika (who is cute and sounds cute too), but what is disappointing, is that they won't do the same for their original Vocaloids.

About synthesize, it appears that English is quite difficult to work with. Add to the fact that all the English Vocaloids have Euro origins which means thick accents. Ann has troubles with the H, R, U and S. But she has very clear pronunciations when used right.

I agree with the previous comment about the operator being just one of the main reasons. Because there are uploads and ppl who have difficulty even making Miku sound good.

The Japanese ones are more popular because of the anime-style box art, I'm sure of it.

Though, in my honest opnion, there's nothing better about Crypton's (Japanese) vocaloids compared to Zero-G's (English) vocaloids.

In fact, when you look at Sonika's huge range of clear and smooth pronounciations, Zero-G almost seems to put Crypton to shame.

The song was actually originally sung by these two - it was written for them by the Russian composer Alexei Ustinov. But if you're asking for a human equivalent, the person who wrote the English version of the lyrics (Rick Paul) did a more complete version in which he and Beverly Bremers sing together.

I personally sort of like Ann's take on it a bit better than Beverly, in terms of intonation.

Al and Anna seem to be more vintage vocalists, imagined by Power FX to be in a certain category that the other vocaloids (crypton and zero G---utau I guess) were not in.

So they are different, but that is good.

Tehy widen the spectrum at which we are able to control human voices, with Bi Al's it can be modified to sound slightly different, but I like how he sort of sounds like elvis in his older years.

Very interesting. vocaloids were meant to allow anyone to be songwriters, essentially.

Well, like anything, I sure it just takes a bit of practice and a few adjustments to make these two programs sound better. Not to mention having them sing to music that's better fitting to thier voices would make things nice. As time goes on, I look forward to people getting better with these two. They sound like they have alot of potential.

I like them actually, but the songs they are singing have notes that change multiple times in between lyrics- you can notice the almost robotic switches in their voices.

They also seem to be accented. Sounds a little nice though.
