You should just use the torch technique to find your way out, if you don't know what that is, basically you place torches on only one side of the cave, then when you want to exit, you just follow the torches in the opposite direction

Dear God, just press F3 and you can see any mob thats remotely near you. Little numbers appear above their heads as if you were in multiplayer. Watching you squirm around guessing where mobs were made my head hurt.

@bamagymnast obsidian is only created from the source block of lava, so you cant let lava flow down a mountain and then dry it up for alot of obsidian. thats why lava pools are full obsidian
