@GizzMoLand5-4-3-2-1 down to 2h are hard then getting softer all the time h - hb -b-2b-3b-4b-5b etc I generally use 6 or 8 b as I like my pencils really soft. press lightly and you can erase easily.

@music7junkie777 yes mech pencils should work - you can get softer leads for them which might make it easier. I like soft 4 - 8 b pencils

I have an art exam and im doing the last supper in pencil, i've been drawing from photos of bowls of grapes and im still finding shading difficult...i just cant shade the bowl! i dont know what parts are light and dark??

@futuremissesbloom spend more time looking and analysing the subject and do rough practice sketches to see if you are getting it right. :)

@mooshiemush789 not really. you'll find the softer the pencil the easier to shade. h pencils are hard and don't have a great tonal range. b pencils are softer at the higher the number the softer they are. press light for light tones hard for dark :)

your not good at discussing it. the way you flop around"voice wise ext." constamtly changing the light scource, you should be more solid on were it is, instead of moving it, think about your video before hand. the only good things are, your good at drawing/shading, and you discused ambiant light, that was help full.

@828kiran Staples should have pencils. Ask for some help and tell them you want to sketch and you want soft pencils they should ssay B on the side. H means hard B means soft. B os soft. 8B is very soft and they grade between the two. Good luck!
