Ah, The Fragile/tortured-artist era Trent. It's funny how he talks like he's recovered in this interview, because he would reflect in later years how this was the darkest period for him. It's kind of sad and funny how Trent addresses the question at hand in this interview and then somewhat inadvertently trails off into his tale of self-loathing. Incredible artist nonetheless. Cool interviewer, too. He knows how to talk and show respect.

Everybody's guilty of putting their best face forward in public situations...and anyways, stress hits everybody differently. He very well might be the type that turns into an asshole in high pressure situations. I guess he's a bit of a "prima donna" when it comes to his LIFE"S WORK, and I don't blame him, but if he were needlessly rude to ME, I would tell him to chill the fuck out, Woosah ,or kiss my brown ass. And I consider myself a fan of his music. It's just that easy.

It's kinda sad how a lot of artists get really depressed when they get famous and get everything that they want, isn't it? Fortunately just as well there's people like Trent, who have the strength to move on and part of that strength is making their music.

So many artists are known for this and in the 90's alone there were like Nirvana, Pearl Jam etc. Its because all they want to do is make and play great music, i don't think any humble person would love the paparazi half way up your ass at every waking hour. I believe that Trent depression was because (or a part of it) his grandmother, died in that period. O f course, there is the "always" story: too much touring, excess, like drugs and alcohol, and that is not precisely the happiness recipe...

why did i not know about this interview? it's awesome. The Fragile IMO is the best thing to come out of the 90's even more then albums like Ok Computer or Nevermind. My fav album of all time, it's an all-out masterpiece
