Hitler actually was a painter by profession. Or, to be more exact, he wanted to be that. But the professors at the Vienna art school didn't like his style and expelled him. He became a homeless. But he learned how to paint all by himself (google: autodidactism), he painted mostly ancient buildings and sold them while living in a homeless asylum. That would have been a life for him, but art dealers betrayed him for his money and the rest is history. He went evil.
