@CSthelevite I used the obp-3 pre in a four knob, stacked treble and bass knob configuration. I had the existing slap switch wired as a mid freq. selector and the second switch wired as a preamp on/off switch (active/passive mode). One of the best guitars I've ever played. I just bought another one lol! I'm going to try a different config this time around (Delano jc pickups/ Bartolini preamp.

I just bought a rare fender jazz bass with active electronics and 24 frets. Feels great. I can get that aggressive John Entwistle attack. I wasn't able to play it too long because they're setting it up and cleaning it until next week.

Truely awesome playing. I want to buy this bass but my only concern is that the B string is a little weak. If I buy this bass what can i do to make the b sting louder.

If your B is weak, you can either try and lower the string so its closer to the pickup (called lowering the action) or you could raise one side of the pickup a bit. They adjust at either side.

doh this is not making my future bass decisions any easier.. I was going to get the Classic Vine 50s P Bass but I do miss my active 5 string ( I had a Spector 5 string but the 35 inch scale length was murder.) I do already have 1 fretless P Bass and 2 passive Jazz basses and dont have an active bass in my stable ......decisions decisions

Hey, do you think its possible to fit the pick guard of a Marcus Miller V string bass on this squier model?

My problem is I always wear out the paint on basses without pick guards.

I put some conklins/snakeskins(65.00) on this bass.The fender strings that come with the bass are good also!The tone on this bass so out/cold it rivals basses in the thousands of dollars.Like you i can not put this instrument down!I swapped my Ibanez 6/string-Bartolini pickups/Mahogany for this $300.00 bass.Thanks for the video to get the word out!!Sean Spearman(sacred steeler) from detroit!

Oh yeah??!! I've never tried Snakeskins, and it's probably because of the price. But I may have to try them! Right now I have DR Black Beauties installed on my bass, and I'll have new electronics installed. I'm very excited about what Fender is doing with Squier with the Active Deluxe, Vintage Modified, and now teh Classic Vibe basses!

By the way, what series Ibanez did/do you have? I have a black BTB566 that I'm thinking about modifying a little bit.

I honestly have never played a Mexican deluxe, but I hear they're the next best thing to the American Deluxe's (that run $1000+). If this is true, then I'm sure they're much better than the Squier, and I'd recommend them.

Thanks man, I just practice a lot, I still have a long ways to go! You are correct, the fretboard is made from ebanol. I think ebanol plays faster than rosewoood, it is very slick, and it polishes to a mirror shine too.

Definately, Fender is doing a great job with it's budget instruments...my first bass was a Squier, five years ago, I didn't think I'd be getting another one :)
